Now will all the ing idiots stop talking sh*t on Edgar for not finishing? Dude gets rocked HARD again in round 1 and knocks Gray the out in Round 4. I am beyond ecstatic right now. Can't wait for him to come back home.

Haha, now that's what I'm ing talking about. That what I want to see. I've got mixed emotions right now. I'm mad and happy at the same time. Mad because Maynard lost but happy as all hell because Frankie has FINALLY proven he can finish a big-time fight. What a fight though. It was going basically exactly like their 2nd encounter and I feel Gray let it slip away. He was SO close in the first AGAIN, but couldn't finish...Man...And Frankie hung in there and rocked Maynard and finished him off. Awesome performance from Edgar. Big congrats to him for being a true fighting champion and finishing Maynard.

Overall I have to say this was an awesome event. I regret I couldn't be there live, but that's basically it. Of all the losses, Guillard's hit me hardest. He's always been a "dark horse favorite" of mine. Silva/Sonnen 2 will be all kinds of epic, Florian will pretty much never win a title, and Frank Edgar is the best Lightweight in the world bar none and hopefully people can give the man the ing respect he's been deserving for a hell of a long time.

Awesome PPV... one of the best, imo. I hope people finally start giving Edgar some respect now... he showed a champion's heart (again) in that first round, then came back to dominate and stop Maynard. And even if he hadn't stopped him, Edgar was well on his way to a clear points win... Maynard just had no answer (excuse the pun) from the 2nd round on. You've gotta feel for Gray though - twice now he's been on the brink of winning the title... it would be a pretty tough pill to swallow (he looked gutted afterwards). Aldo/Florian was a bit disappointing but still pretty good... I gave Kenny the first, then the rest to Aldo. I don't think Kenny "choked"... Aldo was just too good. Chael Sonnen is freaking awesome... he totally dominates Stann, then cuts the promo of the year afterwards: "Anderson Silva - you absolutely suck!". Lol - pure pro-wrestling style... love it (and I'm a big Silva fan, lol). Silva Vs Sonnen 2 will be off the charts.

Frankie finished! I literally jumped out of my seat when he had him against the cage and proceeded to finish. I feel bad for Gray, considering the fight was going almost exactly as there second fight. But it looked like he refused to pull the trigger after the first round.
So it looks like Aldo has a gas tank problem? Pretty underwhelming fight with him and Kenny.
Props to Chael actually finishing a fight. I still think he should face Vitor next to get a second chance at Silva, but whatever. But did Chael have to go all "pro wrestling" calling Silva out?

I too felt like Chael went down the pro wrestling road. At that point, he might as well have sat down in the middle of the cage Indian style (al la CM Punk) & cut a promo.

Mann, 'Fe' can't make more sense for Frankie Edgar. Dude is truly made out of iron. Great win and I was glad to see him get a finish. Finally this fight is out of the way and we can get some new contenders in there. El Nino please.
Props to Edgar, but personally, performance of the night goes to Chael Sonnen. His ability to impose his will on Brian Stann, just wow. The control, the transitions, and the sub to top it off. Correction, that post-fight interview to top it off. Seems like Sonnen wanted to make sure that he was next and not Henderson if he beats Shogun. I don't think that whole stipulation will fall through, but regardless, I am pumped for that rematch.

The plan for Frankie was to actually take Gray down and submit him. Obviously that went out the door when he got beat up in round 1. I am very proud of the guy. I will be at the airport to congratulate him when he gets in. Still very happy about the outcome.

Give him our best, James! What a warrior... It's weird reading on various sites what some people are saying about Chael Sonnen and his interview/promo afterwards - I think a lot of fans are too snobby (...is that a word...?) when it comes to the pro-wrestling aspects in MMA... what's wrong with going down the WWE route once in a while? It was brilliant. And it was a genius move by Sonnen too: it virtually guaranteed him the next shot at Silva - while also probably getting a few thousand extra buys for the PPV just on that interview alone. ...now if only Silva had come into the Octagon afterwards so security could seperate them...

But you also need to understand, if people hate when Chael is doing, then he's doing his job. Point blank.

I didn't watch the fights tonight (I was working) but I heard from a friend that Sonnen essentially threw down a "promo" on Silva. And said should a rematch occur, if Sonnen wins, Silva leaves the Middleweight division, and if Silva wins, Sonnen leaves the UFC? Any truth to this? If it is true it really does add some pro-wrestling aspect to the UFC, which is awesome.

Now, since no-one else is going to ask the question, then I will. Is Frankie truly done with Gray now?? I really don't know. I mean, in my opinion, all he did in the end was tie it up. They are officially one-a-piece now. Granted, it was a tremendous stoppage, but so was the stoppage when Brock tied it up against Frank Mir. They are one-a-piece as well.
Obviously Gray won't be getting an immediate rematch, but I don't think with that loss he'll be knocked too far down the ladder in the rankings. Bottom line, I have a feeling we'll see Edgar vs. Maynard IV at some point down the line.
Also, I just wanted to mention the complete dominating performances from Joe Lauzon and Chael Sonnen. Man, they both looked on the top of their game last night.

Frankie won't be spending too much more fights at 155 anyway.

I have lost alot of respect for Maynard after watching him throw away his chance at winning the title in that 2nd round.. But probably my favorite fighter in Chael Sonnen absolutley demolished Stann. That was incredible, he really earned his niext title shot agaisnt The Spider

Prime example is Cruz/Faber.

Frankie won't be spending too much more fights at 155 anyway. And why won't he?? You already said it was "the most stacked division in MMA" and now you are saying he won't be spending much more fights at 155?? If it was "the most stacked division in MMA" as you say it is, shouldn't there be a long line of challengers waiting in the wings for their crack at the belt?? If Gray is truly out of the title picture now, then who is next to challenge for Frankie's belt?? And Badnewz, if it's not about having more wins over a certain fighter and proving you are now the better figher like you say, does that mean that Rampage Jackson is a better fighter than Wanderlei, even though he avenged a loss but Wanderlei is still one-up on him....I don't know man.... I think in order to get them permenently out of the picture, you've got to beat them decisively at least twice. Kinda like how GSP has beat Hughes, Penn and Koscheck all twice over. He's DONE with those guys. He should never fight those guys again. So Frankie tied it up against Gray. It only took him over 3 years to do so...Does that make him the better fighter?? Maybe...Maybe not....He certainly had a better night than Gray did last night, that's for damn sure. And now I hear Dana White is saying Frankie is now #2 "Pound For Pound" in the world?? Wow...I don't know about that...I think he should have a few more successful title defenses before he can say that. In my opinion, I think the "Pound for Pound" list goes like this: 1. Anderson Silva (No question. He's the best. Period.) 2. Georges St. Pierre (He's gotta be number #2. He hasn't lost in over 4 years. Frankie cannot say that... ) 3. Jose Aldo 4. Cain Velasquez 5. Frankie Edgar And on and on... Frankie is an incredible fighter with what seems to be an indestructible chin. He's beat Penn twice and avenged his only loss to Gray Maynard in impressive fashion. However, like I said, I think he should have a few more successful title defenses before he's #2 "Pound for Pound" in the world because right now, #2 belongs to GSP as far as I'm concerned.

because his body type is better suited for 145.
benson henderson probably.
and it absolutely is the deepest division in mma, its not even a question.

Anyone know if Gilbert Melendez is still fighting Masvidal? I know UFC said they're looking to bring him in 'ASAP', so I say definitely give him Edgar to unify the titles. If not, winner of Bendo/Guida makes sense for the next title shot.
