Do subscriptions sell out? That's dumb if they do, they should never deny someone who wants to commit to buy all figures sight unseen. Mattel usually announces a subscription at SDCC where it then previews upcoming figures for the sub. Technically, you see half or all of the set before committing. For example, all the Voltron lions and figures were revealed at SDCC for the upcoming subscription. I am confident there will not be a Legends sub in 2012 but I hope. I am assuming 2012 will be a test to determine how the figures sell. However, anything is possible. I personally hope one day Mattel can get back on their feet with Legends and sell them at retail once again.

I personally hope one day Mattel can get back on their feet with Legends and sell them at retail once again. To be honest, I really do not care. As long as I receive a solid 18 Legends figures per year through Elite Flashbacks and Matty I will be fine. Not to mention Legends Exclusives and DM. I am more worried about price. As I previously mentioned in another thread, most Mattycollector figures are US$20 and above. I hope the Legends line does not hold the same fate. US$15 plus shipping is fine. It is basically like ordering from RSC. Maybe cheaper! Totally, I agree with you in the sense that as long as we are getting basically the same amount of Legends figures we would be with the Legends line then it's all good. However, it just bums me out that the quality of Mattel's figures just blows Jakks out of the water, but Jakks was able to put the CS line through close to 30 series'. I guess we can tell our grandkids that the Great Recession of the early 2000's took a toy giant to it's knees.

Now that I've had time to really examine the figures and purchase some stuff, here are my thoughts:
- Vicki is amaze-balls.
- I love the addition of feud/team specific accessories to the two packs. It adds a nice extra something to the set, and, for people that collect only Basic, it gives them a chance to get some cool accessories. - Gabriel's san is really good. I wish we were seeing Slater with him as well as Tag Team Titles, but, ah well.
- Something is off about Alex Riley. I can't put my finger on it but it just looks...odd. Maybe it is the torso choice? Thoughts?
- The DM Bret Hart is by far, one of the best figures they've produced yet. Bret Hart is my Hulk Hogan, so to speak, and that figure may be the first figure I ever buy an extra of and keep MOC.
- The Elite Del Rio scarf looks like crap. It is too big. The dog is a pretty funny/trival add that helps make Mattel so awesome.
- I am mixed on the DM Cena. It is cool to see the Spinner US title (despite it being one of the ugliest titles ever made) but I would rather see more relevant Legends titles with different Superstars (IE WWF Tag Team titles, WWF European title, etc.).

Mattel tried to finish up where CS left off. Bad idea, especially when you knew your product was far superior. I believe getting talent signed late in the game including Mach, Warrior and Bret hurt. For example, you could have had a monster launch w/ any of the following Warrior, Mach, Steamboat, SCSA, Rock, Bret, Andre, etc. It is what it is. You never know what will happen in the future. Once again, I totally agree with you. It bugged me a lot when people said that Mattel should make the guys Jakks didn't make. Just imagine if Mattel's first Legends 2 packs were exactly the same as the first series of CS 2 packs? Rockers, LOD, and Hart Foundation? There would be NONE of them sitting on the shelves. Heck, they probably would've sold out within the first few weeks.

The main thing that bothers me about the DM Cena is that we don't really need one... we've already got 2 great/"iconic" Cenas in the Elite line (and we'll be getting the purple-shirt one too). Nothing against Cena (I know he sells!) - it's just I'd have prefered a wrestler that they hadn't made before... (eg. Diesel, Yokozuna etc.)

I must have missed something.
Do we know when Macho King is coming? And is it an online exclusive, or will it be available in stores?
Thanks, all!

So am I really the only one that is a bit angry that Vickie is getting a figure before the other girls who actually wrestle?
It just doesn't make any sense to me. Especially when 4 of them are past champions.

Pre-ordered Punk. I rarely buy online, but after most stores still only have ELITE 6 FROM 2010, I'm growing quite impatient lol. I bet the guys at Mattel are super psyched that Punk decided to wear a very similar attire at MITB. People are going to remember that match, and that will likely help sales.
Bret is a dream figure. I hope they're planning on Anvil for the Elite throwbacks next year. I can't wait to display a "complete" 1997 Hart Foundation (we're never getting Owen, but that's out of Mattel's hands).
Del Rio's scarf isn't as good as I expected but that little chihuahua dog makes up for it. How cool is that? Daniel Bryan looks a little skinny but I really love the scan and that attire. They just need to texture the hair...like usual. Surprised to see Miz and Orton already. Never thought they'd do a Corre version of Gabriel. Seems pretty obvious to me that Heath got bumped for one of the Legends. But...it's Heath Slater. I think we'll live. Hopefully he'll come with two new tag belts instead of a Corre shirt in Elite 13. Debut Kane having unique molds is the figure I've been waiting to see since the whole concept of "classic" styled figures. It's hard to believe it's taken this long for such a marketable look, but they have finally delivered, and I can't wait to own it.
Love that we're getting another 90s Rock with that logo. That's how I remember him best. I think he and Austin have just as good Basic figures as Elite. You can tell they had "Dashing" planned for this upcoming Cody, as evidenced in the scan, but are including the mask to update it a bit. It's a weird mishmash but hey, it's a basic figure getting a very cool accessory! Glad to see USA Sheamus. The Elite scan's hair is very weird looking, though. Blue Rey looks cool...and I think he's wearing blue lipstick. Okay. That Extreme Rules Del Rio looks to be the best one of the bunch. Might just get him and make my own scarf. Really loving how his Basics are looking.
Legends announcement....hmm. I fully expected a change, and this is actually not too bad all things considered. It was obvious that the line was getting an overhaul. It still exists, which is a good thing, it's just going to be a bit more costly. I hope they keep the $15 price so I can drop a $20 and some change shipped, and not $25-30 shipped like I'm fearing. The Elite Flashbacks is an excellent idea. That way they can release deserving firsts like Magnum TA and Nick Bockwinkel in the Legends series online for collectors, and the more marketable names like the masked Kane, Diesel, Austin, Bret, etc. at retail. There's definitely a demand for Legends, they just needed to streamline it a bit, and this is the perfect way to do it if retail wasn't cutting it overall. It sucks that 2 modern Elites have to get cut, but...well, so we lose a couple Ted Dibiase types for some kickass Legends. I'm fine with that trade-off as long as the mid-card and main eventers get releases/reasonable repaints.
So far, so good. I'm curious if they're going to show DM6 tomorrow or at least explain the upcoming Savage. It says it's for Legends, so I presume it's not just a display piece like our friend The Gooker. Surprised we didn't see Layla yet...with Mattel's schedule, her and Michelle are the hottest thing going in the divas division, so it seems inevitable that she's on the horizon. Perhaps she's in Series 13 or maybe a 2-pack with Michelle? Guess we'll find out tomorrow if they have more to show.

Elite Punk's hair looks more like a mash-up of brown tinted spikey, and slicked than one or the other.
And Elite Christian is exactly the same as Series 3 in everything but tights and accessories...with the wrist tape problem still intact, the basic headscan is far better.
WM27 Rock is looking good, along with the fact we (finally) get a current figure of him, that basic one looked good too, as I was never able to find the Entrance Greats.
Elite Bryan is great, new headscan and all, knew we wouldn't only end up being able to find that attire in the target pack.
If we end up seeing basic 12 Del Rio and extreme rules Del Rio hit stores at the same time, kind of like what happened with the first Sheamus figures, I'll go for the gold more common attire, but believe me, I'll grab the first Del Rio I see.

I dont know if anyone else noticed this or brought it up but I strongly think the Macho King is the next RSC exclusive. Why you ask? Well because its on the same shelf as the exclusives, and its sitting right infront of RSC Exclusive CM Punk and RSC Exclusive Kane. Maybe Im looking into it but to me it makes sense.
