I think Doink would sell very well. Now Savio Vega is another story.. But to be fair Doink should have been an Elite flashback.

I don't think he'll sell well at all. Besides the few board members here who would want to buy him. Let's say for the sake of argument there's 500 members here who would buy him (And I think that's a very generous number) of that 500 how many are still going to want him at $35? Because it's now on Matty Collectors the cost of the figure is going to be at least $25 to justify the lower production run. Then it'll be $10 shipping. And then how well do you think he'll sell outside of the WF community at that price? In the long run I feel he'd be line killer.

Im good to drop $200-$300 at a time on Mattel products if they make something I like. Mattel loves people like me, the ones that have money to blow on their stuff. However If I look at that line and see Doink, Crush, Savio, Faarooq and Sunka...Guess what, they dont get a dime from me for the entire year. Not to mention at $25 or even $35 a piece, Im good for 3 Arn Andersons, 3 Tully Blanchards and 2 Magnum TAs. Most of the people voting wont even have the money for the figures or will have to ask their parents to buy them Doink or will wait and try to get it off Ebay. This isnt mass retail anymore and personally I dont care what anyone else wants. Its my money and Im going to make sure I have the chance to get what I want. Call me a dick, smite me or whine, cry, piss, moan and bitch to Mattel but Ive dropped more money on figures in the past 25 years then 80% of this board. (Not attacking you by quoting your post PJ, you know I think you're cool. Just not wanting to to misunderstand this)

You guys are taking this way too seriously. I don't care who gets made from the list, I'd buy regardless. I'm just happy I'm going to get the Rockers and Andre!

I Always Respect your opinions Pj, and usually wait to see what you think when im waiting to see when something will be released or how... but i feel the same way about Magnum T.A as you feel about Doink.... i think doink would sell well, would he sell well at $35? Maybe not ... Maybe so.... i dont know.... The Only thing i'd like is the vote to be fair, then if 2000 people actually cast a vote for doink and hes in the top 5 then cool.... but if he gets 10,000 votes from 100-200 people then ya thats gonna be bad... I Dont Know Magnum T.A and i probably wouldnt buy his figure , No offense to anyone, I Never seen the guy wrestle , but if he won the vote fairly in the top 5 I wouldnt care. If he wins the vote because some people sit on the vote button all day, then thats a problem I Kinda Dont Give a Rats Ass Who Wins, All i want is a Fair vote so The Legends Line On Mattycollector can get some success Who Cares? so you plan on buying 8 Figures if your top 5 wins...... I Dont think Mattels gonna lose any sleep over not getting a dime from you. Im glad you mentioned you vote 100-150 times a day cuz theres gonna be people who will see that and vote twice as much for other guys , personally i wouldn't waste my time, but have fun with that

Like I said a few pages back Tully & Magnum were 6 & 7 on my list and if there was a real Flair and not just my customs on my shelf I'd probably gone Muraco and all NWA (Arn, Tully, Magnum & Barry) And I will buy multiples of all 7 of those wrestlers if and when they are released. I'm not voting for Elizabeth because she'll be made at some point wheter it's a single or in some sort of Exclusive set with Macho. And I really do see Magnum selling better than Doink, because he was someone people have been asking for since the Jakks CS started and I'm sure Mattel would get Jakks hold overs who would also buy him for the head swaps they've been doing with everyone else Jakks didn't make. Where if I remember correctly Doink has had 2 CS figures so we won't see any of the Jakks collectors wanting his figure. So right there there's a loss in sales before you get to the higher cost for his figure on Matty.
I just think putting Doink in another mass retail line as a flashback would be a better option as they could shortpack him and he'd still be easy to find for those who want him like Elite 7 hart Dynasty or E8 Regal are. Or like I said before even though I don't think he (Or wrestling) had one with him put him in the DM line where they could really go to town on his attire.

Well you May be right, Im done bitching about the voting and arguing about who would or wouldn't sell. I just think its intellectually- disabled that some people vote for who they want 150 + times a day because they think they deserve their wants over everyone else. And to be honest it could hurt the legends online if a small amount of people cast a large amount of votes. anyways, im over it , sorry for bitching , peace

No, you have a right to be upset if that's who you really want and you think it's going to hurt the line in the long run. I have no problem with you voicing your concerns. As that's what most of us are doing. And like I said a few pages back I don't even think they should have offered us the option of voting.
But like I said above I just think putting Doink in another mass retail line as a flashback would be a better option as they could shortpack him and he'd still be easy to find for those who want him like Elite 7 Hart Dynasty or E8 Regal are. Or like I said before even though I don't think he (Or wrestling) had one with him put him in the DM line where they could really go to town on his attire. And the same could probably be said for Tully as much as I love him I think he and Arn would probably sell better as a 2-Pack

I think some people are forgetting that the voters all grew up watching different wrestlers. Some of us grew up with the Horsemen, Muraco and Snuka while others grew up with Crush, DDP, Doink and DiBiase. I don't think we have to rag on anyone's choices. You are being reasonable on an unreasonable thread on an unreasonable board. And for that I give you props. This reminds me of the South Park episode about voting.

I Would Buy Doink as an excl. or flashback or whatever, But I For one wouldnt sit on the vote button just to get him #1 So i could buy him, thats all im saying, if magnum t.a wins , thats cool! i personally dont want him, but i might buy him if the figure looked cool, i wish mattel would restart the vote with 1 per day or just 1 vote per person! Thats all i want, You guys would feel the same if someone said "Im gonna vote all day for Savio Vega for the next 2 Weeks" or " Im gonna Vote 150 Times a day for Doink the Clown" ..... Anyways it is what it is , if buddy gets his 5 guys as the top picks by voting so much then congrats
Anyways, Lots of respect for you PJ, Im sorry about bitching about the voting guys, Im going to bed lol, It is what it is but im done voting.

LOL you dont think there's people out voting 100s a times a day for Savio Vega, DDP or Crush? Get real man...Where the hell did you think I got the idea from?
This isnt the only place where people discuss who they're voting for.

guys, you do realize that this whole voting thing could be a farce to begin with right? I hate to be cynical, but if Mattel wanted this to be as open and transparent as possible with their fans, there's no reason why they couldn't show instant results instead of this private voting. Added to that, if Mattel were serious about this, they would fix the major coding flaw that allows us to vote 100s of times and pick as many people as we want - they haven't done that yet now have they?
However this thing goes, I honestly think it's rigged (queue Boss Bill or the MDT coming in here saying it's not). Mattel has their strategy in place, we've actually see hardcore proof protos of Arn Anderson and Magnum TA. Has a Doink or Savio Vega leaked out into the interwebs? No...
Personally I agree with PJ - mattycollector.com is an online exclusive deal where figures range from $20-$40 a piece and shipping (especially for International people like zombie and I) will be up to another $20. There is absolutely no way in hell that international buyers are going to spend up to $40 en mass for a Doink.
The website is exclusive, the production numbers are low, it's perfect for guys like Arn Anderson and Magnum T.A.
Doink, Vega, and the like should be in flashbacks at RETAIL.

Ya i think Crush was Pretty relevant, Demolition Crush, Evil Crush, Kona Crush, N.O.D Crush, D.O.A Crush.... then as Brian Adams in nWo and Kronik... the guys a Legend. And He was in a few videogames back in the day too .... i can see the point with doink but hes a fun colorful character and will prob do well for mattel Relevant how? He was a superfluous talent. He's the third Demolition, he's a miscellaneous member of DOA, nWo and N.O.D. He was never needed for anything or ever had an important role. He's known for his super mullet, that's it. You can't even size him up with the majority of the guys on that list that are true "Legends".

I grew up watching the various gimmicks of Crush and he is one of my favourite characters of all-time. I'd love to own an Evil Crush action figure, because aside from the rare Hasbro version we don't have one, much like Magnum or even Tully to an extent. Now, I've gone back and watched matches for those guys and a lot of NWA talent but I would never say they were relevant to me or my interest in wrestling. I didn't grow up watching these guys so I won't vote for them. For those that did, great, vote away. I know they're an important memory for some so I'd never belittle anyone's opinion or desire to see these guys made. I'd hope nobody would do that to me or anyone who has an alternative view. I think some of the people posting in this thread need to show a little more tolerance for other member's voting decisions, just because they're afraid they won't be able to finally own Magnum T.A or another Brainbusters set. If Mattel has them listed, surely they'll get round to them. Just let everyone have their fair and equal say in the poll and wait for the results to come.

I'm not a nostalgia seeker, those people can't let their childhood go, I'm a wrestling fan. Past, present and future. It doesn't matter what era, their importance on the industry is what matters. So, when I see Crush who never did anything significant get a billion votes over hall of fame talent who left their mark on the industry because they remember his big mullet flapping around on the boobtube when they were kid and they care not of the history of the sport...yeah, it bugs me.

That's understandable but there are so many other perspectives to look at it from too. History doesn't really count here. I mean, Magnum was around for what, 7 or 8 years? He didn't do a lot but he had his fair share of moments with Tully and the Horsemen and Koloff, but not everyone remembers that and not everyone is going to go back and look for those moments captured on camera. If people remember a certain character they enjoyed they'll surely be inclined to buy them in figure form. People remember Crush so they want Crush. People enjoyed his work so they want Crush. The same goes for every single person on that list from Mattel. They may not hold significant standing in your view of wrestling but they do to others. At the end of the day, not everyone has the same personal preference. We just have to live with that. Part of the fun of this process, in my opinion, is the anticipation to see if my choices were in the top 5. If not, oh well, life goes on. Just enjoy the privilege of being able to vote.
