I was a big ECW fan for many reasons. One (of many) lasting lessons from the original ECW: They proved it was possible to have a rabid, cheering, passionate fan base that largely did not fall for kayfabe. And that ended up being a far more valuable lesson than anyone knew at the time.
The hot crowds of the 80s and early 90s were often driven by fans believing what they were seeing. Original ECW fans might have been the first modern-day example of a wrestling audience that largely accepted that what they were watching was scripted/choreographed.
Today, when we compare a hot 80s crowd to a silent/passive modern crowd, it's tempting to blame it all on the death of kayfabe. But the original ECW proved that fans will still get behind a great product even if they're not falling for kayfabe. That was a pretty big milestone in wrestling history.

I was watching the Rise and Fall of ECW last night man its a great watch.
I STILL love Public Enemy-they are one of my fave teams.

If anyone is interested on ioffer they have the full ppv sets for $42 in sleeves or $70 for custom artwork and cases.

I loved the way The Dudleys would cause near riots just by playing to the audience. I'd post links from youtube, but there is too much cursing involved. yeah I remember this one promo and the boys are jeering this dude and his hot girlfriend.......so to annoy Bubba the guy kisses his girlfriend really passionately and Bubba asks: "so how does my dick taste?"  cue near riot Must see video! |

I cant remember where I seen that one.....but it was awesome.they show them drawing mega heat on the RAF of ECW dvd. |

This shows what I loved about ECW. I was a huge supporter and still am of The Whole F'N Show! That was sweet..brings back a lot of memories |
