I am starting my first collection with Mattel...
I didn't consider the Elite figure when I order because they were more expensive and their leg joint look weird, but after buying a Basic Big Show and Mark Henry figure, I notice how stiff these figure are from Jakks brand wrestling figure. I have already order 12 figures from Mattel for a whopping $100 exact.
Those Basic figures are:
Shawn Michael = $4.08 Batista = $5.13 Chris Jericho = $7.33 John Cena = $7.33 CM Punk = $7.33 Vladimir Kozlov = $7.33 Undertaker vs Kane = $14.66 Randy Orton vs Edge = $14.66 Sheamus vs Triple H = $14.66
Along with my newly bought Big Show and Mark Henry
Total: $99.51
My question is did I make a mistake, did I buy too much without doing more research? 12 Figures for 100 bucks felt like a steal to me, is it or is it not? Should I haven't gotten around 6 Elite instead of 12 Basic figure? I am having buyer remorse right now. I can always return them but shipping cost isn't worth it.
Thanks

Buy Elite if you prefer elite. Otherwise, it's OK.

I've just started collecting Mattel as well. I bought 2 basics and an Elite, and I've decided to collect the Elite/Legends/Defining Moments lines with the odd basic here and there.
As Skribbel said, buy what you prefer, because ath the end of the day it's what you're happy with getting.

Are the elite better at hand articulation, are the figure as stiff as the basic? I'm about to cancel my order right now. I like how the elite have clothes and some have championship belts which alone is worth the $8 dollars.
Edit: Nevermind can't cancel it.

I like them all and buy all styles. But Basics do look better and have 20 POA. Elites have more POA (27), but the guys in trunks look like they have reverse wedgies going on and takes a little getting used to. 12 Basics for $99 is a good price seeing they are $12 a pop at TRU & Target

I started out with Elite, but I have gradually started to buy Basics but I'm keeping them MOC as I like them like that, mostly collecting PPV/Heritage series. Elites are awesome though, so if you can afford them you should definately check them out!

I've never been against the ab-crunch POA on Elites, but what I can't stand on basics is the legs and how close they are together. To me, Basics and RAs are like bricks - and to think back in the day I >loved< my LJNs!

Even just posing the Rock Standing up straight with his chest out and the mic in his hand, it looks great with elite, basic wouldnt look right to me I Really Hate Basic for the Stiff Legs and Stiff Torso.... But at the end of the day its your choice bro, go buy an elite figure and see how you feel.

The only thing about the Elites I don't like is that the guys in trunks look like they have reverse wedgies going on. If the top part of the hip had some trunks molded to them like the Jakks DA's did I'd have no complaints with the Elites. I think the guys in the long tights look great. But even the high cut trunks have grown on me.

Buy what you want as long as you are happy. However, it sounds like you are having second thoughts about the basics you just bought. My advice at the moment would be to pick up a couple Elites and check them out. See if you really like them better than the basic. If you do, then see if you can sell off the basics to try and recoup your funds.

I think the torso articulation and hip joints on Elite make them far better than the Basics. However, the few basics that I have seen are not too bad.

I prefer the basics dude, so it ain't all that bad. Buy an Elite and do some comparisons & then decide which style is better for you.

I would probably keep them, and maybe go back and get elites if you can of certain people. I use to prefer the basics. Didn't like the look of elites, but I find myself liking elites more now. Just up to you, and what you want to do.

Always, always, ALWAYS purchase elites. There better. Basics are good if you just want too set them up on a shelf and never touch them or nothing and using them as statues in your home, but Elites are waaaaaaaaaay better. You get all that articulation so you can actually put moves on each figures and they look like they are really in the maneuver. Also basics are just a cheap version of Elites. They put out basics right before the elite figure comes out and this is too just see how it sells, how it will look etc. Once mattel drops the basic version of the fig, they then fix there errors and make a elite version of them. I would still collect some basics, such as Divas, and guys who will never get released into Elite form if you want too collect everyone. But other than that always buy the elites, legends, DM figures. They cost a little more of course but if your a true big wwe fan and you want your moneys worth in a figure. Elites, Legends, and DM's are the way too go you wont be let down at all. Hell i have paid $35 for one figure before just too own it and i never ever regreted doing it either because i love the wwe and there figures so much plus when he came it was not a let down at all considering how amazing they did on the fig etc

I'm not sure how I would be able to recoup my lost other than accepting my mistake and just ship it back cause I have a 30 days return as long as it is unopened.
I have no problem with basic other than that it nothing like Jakks figures. It so hard to move them, I like the fact they can stand on their own (unlike Jakks) but it seem so hard to play with them. However when I do get a good Jakks figure, they are a blast to play and I'm guessing that would be the Elite Mattel figure then.
