Lots of repeats and they definitely could have gotten 1 or 2 more discs out of this. This release is an afterthought just like the actual show.

Apparently nothing happened on smackdown for six years.... That was the stretch where they did SuperShow and no brand split and didn't do much on Smackdown but I bet there was something, even a goofy holiday match, that could've made the cut somewhere along the way.

The stuff with Ronda Rousey was really good too. I didn't expect the outcome from the first Piper/Perfect match! I wonder if they were going to go somewhere with that or it was just Roddy doing something different. The "return" of "Piper's Pit" was beyond horrible! I've seen it before but now I can see why they didn't carry on with it and it never made air on TV. I remember seeing the Superstars the week before and they were promoting the return of the Pit but when that Saturday came they didn't show it. Now I know why!

Though I do wish we would have gotten more matches from the 80s and early 90s. It also would have been cool to see some of his California and Oregon stuff - if the WWE has that in their library. Favorite parts of the DVD were his matches with Mr. Perfect, the Model, Rick Rude, and Mr. Wonderful, the Hasbro figure commercials and the Piper's Pit with Andre (I like when Andre threw the LJN figure of his in the crowd and Piper said in a "hey, that was mine..."). The other thing I liked was seeing how alive the crowds were during the Monday Night Wars, the weren't chanting out of boredom or trying to take over the show they just played their part and enjoyed it. Good stuff.

The article does say that's only the case in Australia and hasn't been confirmed for other regions, but still that doesn't give much hope.

They do state the decision was a result of an internal review by WWE and not a specific distributor. By that, WDN felt comfortable that it will have a wider impact than just one region.

Good stuff. I noticed Jesse Ventura's commentary was edited out. Plus in a Pit segment with Jimmy Hart, they edited out when Hart tells Piper to "Go hang yourself". Too much Ronda Rousey for my liking. I would have preferred some memories from Orndorff, Orton, Muraco, Steamboat & Flair instead. And I was really hoping to finally see the footage of him rioting the Mexican crowd by playing "La Cucaracha" instead of the Mexican national anthem.

Agreed, I would have preferred to here more from guys who worked with him like the guys you mentioned than Rousey (not that her part was horrible, but it was too much). Also, it would have been nice to see some of his early work but I don't know if WWF owns those tapes (if there are any). Yeah, I noticed WWE started editing Jesse out of the commentary when he isn't on screen, I think I first noticed it in either the Sting DVD (first one they released) or the 2nd Warrior DVD (with Warrior talking about his career). I remember watching the Warrior/Hulk match from WM6 and about half way through the match noticed that Jesse hadn't said anything. And on the Sting DVD, you can see Jesse at the commentators table rocking back and forth but no commentary is playing (I believe he was with JR or Schaivione). I guess they started doing that so they wouldn't have to pay him any more royalties.

Well I guess that's that as the Wrestling Observer just confirmed that WWE will only release the ppvs on DVD.
I wonder if this will play into the tiered subscriptions of the WWE Network and they're saving stuff to only put on those higher tiers.

Apparently nothing happened on smackdown for six years.... I do remember their was buzz about cutting SmackDown off the air in that time period. The most I remember in that time was like Wade Barret Vs Sheamus, Sheamus Vs. Cesaro, Orton Vs. Cesaro like every week, then like rematches from the previous Raw and recaps,

I find it bs, that they didn't include any content from La Familia's big Heel run. The whole thing was bull. To go from the Raw set to that, I'll be refusing to purchase. We'll always have the 30th anniversary set to look forward to. Oh wait...

I'm disappointed that the DVDs have seemingly ended without getting more of the unreleased sets. I really think those are a unique idea and getting something new and never before released is appealing. I'd purchase unreleased sets for Austin, Rock, Undertaker and Triple H all without knowing what the content would be because I'm sure it would consist of quality stuff.
