Brilliant strategy: close down the Shop, and just have people rent all the shirts and merch at shows for appearances. That's all the WWE values: showing people merely wearing stuff, not actually owning it.

I'm surprised they didn't do this sooner. Physical media is a dying market, let alone physical media of wrestling PPVs. I thought they would have scaled it back to just the big four PPVs a few years back then eventually get rid of them all together.

This is one of those things that you knew would eventually happen but you are still disappointed that it did. Yes, physical media is basically on life support at this point, Best Buy recently announced it will stop selling DVD/Blu-Ray’s at the end of the year, surely other stores will soon follow suit. It’s highly unlikely a last minute deal will save WWE Home Video like what happened two years ago. Another thing to consider, who knows what will happen to all the Network content once the Peacock deal expires? Content could end up being lost forever, plus not all DVD’s are currently available for streaming. I get the reasoning, but am still sad this era has come to an end.

Agree with everything you said, there has been a bunch of weird edits done to stuff on the streaming service too which has people really championing physical media too. I get it…but it’s def an end of a big era.

End of an era. Does anybody see WWE DVDs becoming collector's items soon? 💿

End of an era. Does anybody see WWE DVDs becoming collector's items soon? 💿 I don’t see it except for maybe a few select titles where changes to licensing rights or decency have the streaming version severely altered. For the most part, DVDs in particular from the last fifteen years are just landfill fodder now. The number of people holding out on getting good internet connections and streaming services dwindles by the day.

Jim Cornette was furious about this. It’s still 1990 to him, dammit 😂

Based on this sample of two, WWE Home Video is very popular with people who have hated every WWE show for decades. 1: That's a fullblown gas-powered lie. 2: That is a revenue source of which WWE would otherwise be deprived. Should be something to cheer. The real question, why do "fans" of the billion dollar WWE want it to be starved of extra income?

If PBS can still release stuff on DVD, then so should WWE.
