Hello! Ive painted a few fix ups recently and was wondering what sealer ya'll would recommend to prevent paint chipping. Nothing will prevent paint from chipping, unfortunately. For example, if you scratch it hard it's still gonna tear up.
Sealer makes the figure safer to handle and clean without ruining the paintjob. Basically, it's a thin later of tough clear paint. If it says it has UV protection, it will also protect the colors from fading over time.
A lot of people have success with cheap Krylon spray sealer, I've had mixed results, both great and bad. It really depends on the environment (humidity, etc.) and following the directions on the can.
I switched to brush-on sealer (Liquitex Satin Varnish), simply because I can control where it goes better.
