Hey I was curious if any of you guys ever use sanding needles to sand parts of your figures? I saw these at Hobby Lobby in the Model Car aisle yesterday and thought about picking them up, but thought I would see if anyone has any experience using them. I use a sanding tool on my dremel much easier and sands in minutes I think the sanding needles are made for harder to get to areas, for instance I was thinking about them maybe being easier to sand of a mustache since its so close to the nose. Seems like it may reach it better than using sandpaper or possibly even the dremel attachment. I know the sanding attachment I have for my dremel is bigger, they may make a smaller one for harder to get to areas like that.

I use the sanding sticks and needles after I dremel to get the area smoother. Dremel can leave it pretty rough. I only found those about 3 years ago, been a big help.

Hi guys,
I need your help! Over the last year or two, the Customs Board has...wilted a bit. For whatever reason, the board isn't what it used to be. Great work is being posted, but things should be more fun around here. I'm open to YOUR ideas.
I saw Customania has not occurred yet this year? Gonzo, if you're planning on putting something together, let me know. If not, I'll open it up for someone else, or try to head it up myself.
I will be posting some tutorials soon, molding and casting, head resizing, 3D scanning from home, custom printed suits, etc. and I'm open to your ideas, so let me have 'em!

Warsman, I posted on your printout thread. Maybe you didn't see it. Could you please fix your own print out thread. It has many broken pics in it. That might help a little. Also perhaps there are too many forums in the custom boards. Maybe eliminating a couple would help.
Definitely MORE people commenting on stuff would help. Especially the mods. If something good gets only two comments it hurts. Perhaps if the mods led the way with the commenting etc. It would help moral.
As well as the custom accessory guys do stuff that NO ONE else does and it gets hardly any comments. Whereas if you just repaint a Mattel figure, people comment like it is the next coming of Christ. Not knocking those guys at all but EVERYONE customizes their figures. No one hardly does what we do. So throw a little love our way.

If something good gets only two comments it hurts. Perhaps if the mods led the way with the commenting etc. It would help moral. My printout thread is old. YEARS old. I don't know why some links went bad, but if they are gone, they are gone. Some things were made on an older computer that has died long ago. Any printouts I still have are on my site: Warsman's Printouts all of which I've always happily shared. As for the "extra customs forums," they serve a purpose. This main Customs Forum is really only for custom figures. Not arenas, accessories, customizing questions, commercials for eBay sales, etc. At one time it was thriving. Now with the "Fix-up" threads in the Mattel and JAKKS forums, it definitely takes eyes away from this forum. I realize how popular they are, and I do not want them to change. However, we need to change things here to make people come back and post their 'fixups' (customs!) here. As for mods commenting more, I agree. CMD, through his own admission has not been active here at all for a long time. I can't speak for him. I was made mod today. I can say that I am on here daily and will continue to be. I will be active. I will (and do) comment on many things. If I haven't commented on your work yet, don't take it personally. I like the things you post, but I often wonder what to say, since you didn't make them yourself, you purchased them or had them made for you. Doesn't make them any less cool, just hard find new ways to say "Cool pickup!" I do like your enthusiasm, and will make a point to comment on your custom work going forward. Wars

They will never be as popular as figure customizing though, and will never generate as many replies. My philosophy on replies is: "I find my life is a lot happier the lower I keep my expectations." Wars I think it is because I am new to this. I am excited. I want others to be. My enthusiasm hurts me. But do understand. They are not pickups. They are not available at the local junk dealer. I hire the guy. Show him pics of what I want and he makes them according to my design. So in a HUGE sense, I am responsible for them as well. So I do make them. Just the money end though. I have not seen your site. Thanks for putting the link out there. Eager to explore it. Thanks again!

Trust me, I like your enthusiasm! I'm enthusiastic about my projects, too, but no one will probably match your own enthusiasm, right? We were all new here once, and I understand what you mean, believe me! I've been around forever, and I usually pimp my site in my sig, so a lot of people knew of it. I took it out of my sig awhile back, so I understand why you didn't know of it. I thought I posted it in the accessories forum or whatever, but maybe I didn't. No biggie, check it out! Wars

It would be great to see this section of the board make a comeback. If anyone can help turn things around, it would be the innovator of customs.

Anybody have an extra JAKKS Sgt. Slaughter head lying around? Have a head you're looking for for a custom? PM me.

Hey Warsman! Congrats on your "promotion"! While I do check these boards daily, I'm certainly guilty for not contributing much, if at all. Due to a handful of personal AND financial setbacks in the past year or so, my "passion" has subsided quite a bit. I still have plenty of ideas in mind, not to mention craploads of parts bins. Perhaps a Customania -style competition will be the shot in the arm that I need to get back into it a little more.

I'd love to you and others dip your toes back into the Customs Board! The old style customs challenges started off as fun, but then got silly with insults and elitist attitudes. I plan on making quite a few tutorials to share on the board: casting and molding heads enlarging and shrinking heads my method of switching torsos 3D face/headscanning creating your own robes and jackets from existing JAKKS/Mattel patterns Wars

Hey guys I'm not 100% sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I was wondering what is the best thing to use removing paint off the figures? I want to remove the beard off of the elite 20 Punk head scan but I figured i'd ask you guys first instead of taking a chance with like acetone and ruining the head scan. Thanks in advance.

Try using goof off, graves.congrats wars on the mod position, always love your work. Thank you! Graves, I suggest acetone and a Q-tip for small areas, or a cotton ball of it for large areas. Rub gently, avoid long exposures of it on your skin. Wars
