Cain has already knocked out Nogueira before. REAL creative to actually predict the same outcome that happened. Once again, it just shows how great Cain is. He's probably the fastest HW out there, and has great striking on top of that. , why are people being so disrespectful to the champions now? Give Cain a little credit instead of bringing down Minotauro any chance you get.

Darren (the guy who wrote that article) is a pretty controversial writer. We kind of let him do his thing without necessarily pushing it too hard.

That was a pretty hard push.

That was a pretty hard push. Was it on one of the home pages?

Not sure, but even if it wasn't, it's still pretty funny to see a reporter dog an MMA fighter after the biggest moment in his career. I'll never understand journalists.

Darren Wong should retire from sharing his opinion on MMA.

It's not my job to censor anyone, but certainly I'm not going to feature something like that on one of the B/R MMA pages.
Like I said, I think it's pretty safe to say that Darren is our most controversial writers. Hahaha. Thankfully, the UFC has been cool with him and the rest of our writers expressing opinions. They have spent a ton of money on advertising at B/R for like 7 straight pay-per-views.

I really like the B/R (my 2nd fave MMA site!) - but was kind of surprised to read that piece. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though - and I have read 2 or 3 other reporters saying similar things (and quite a few fans too). I don't think they mean any disrespect by it - moreso, it seems to come from people's love and respect for Big Nog (rather than his ability to still compete at top level)... they'd like to see him go out on a (massive) high rather than continue on and risk getting KTFO or beaten-up.

But, how is saying he would be KO'ed (even though he already has) by Velasquez a bad thing? Cain is the #1 HW in the world.

I don't understand your complaint right now, James. LOL.

He's basically saying he would be knocked out by Cain (again) if he was fighting him. But, Cain is the #1 HW in the world... are you missing something?

So he's saying that Nog is still good, but not elite. Is that bad? I just don't understand your gripe. Is your gripe that he's stating the obvious? If so, you better not read much MMA writing. LoL.

I guess you don't get what I'm saying. How does a loss to the HW champion, and a win over a top prospect mean he isn't elite?

I guess you don't get what I'm saying. How does a loss to the HW champion, and a win over a top prospect mean he isn't elite? I guess it depends on what your definition of "elite" is. He has only fought three times since 2009. Sure, he beat Brendan Schaub, but we haven't really seen him fight any of the consensus top guys, other than Mir who he lost to and Velasquez who he lost to. Yeah, Schaub was on his way up, but he was still borderline top-10 and Couture was, realistically, a light heavyweight. We haven't seen him fight Lesnar, JDS, Carwin or any of the top guys from Strikeforce other than Barnett years ago. To me, being "elite" is pretty much top-5 in your weight class. Elite, to me, means you have a shot at winning the title again. So no, I don't think he's elite. He's still a great fighter, but I don't put him on that level, personally.

Yeah, but it isn't fair to say he ISN'T "elite" until we have seen him against what people consider "elite fighters". If he loses to them, THEN you can make any type of article you want about him being a scrub or whatever.

He lost to Frank Mir and Cain, who are elite fighters. So yeah, it's pretty safe to say...
... No one called him a scrub, to my knowledge. Calm down.

I think these peeps are just saying: Nog can still compete with a lot of top guys, but would probably get KO'd again if he faced the likes of Cain, Mir, and Dos Santos. And if that's the case - at this stage of his career - they'd rather him go out on the massive high that Rio was, rather than carry on and (eventually) get KO'd. That's what I gather from it, anyway(?). Spider = greatest of all time, P4P. Please, please, PLEASE let Sherdog still rank GSP over him P4P so I can laugh again. Lol... you'll be please to see Sherdog have Silva back where he belongs.
