In honor of the the 20th anniversary of the US release of the SNES, I'm making week one of the CGR 2.0 Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. A classic. A game that takes some abuse because it wasn't REALLY Super Mario World 2. Now go forth. Play this game. Talk about it. A week from today, we'll give our final thoughts/reviews/beat downs/charts/comic strips/whatever.

Well I played this for a bit today for the first time since its re release on the GBA and you know what I really do not think much of this game. I don’t know what it is I got this game back in 95 when it first came out and right from the start there was just something off about it. Perhaps it’s because for that Xmas I got my first playstation with Tekken so I never really gave Yoshis Island the attention it deserved. My first big compliant is that it should have never been called Super Mario World 2 I loved Super Mario World and still do I consider it to be the best out of all the 2D Mario Games,
I never completed Yoshis Island first time round and had sold it a few years earlier by the time the GBA one was released. It worked out cheaper to but a copy of it for the GBA than one for the SNES. So I gave Yoshis Island another chance and still there was just something that did not grab me. I at least played all the way through it this time but it felt like such a chore to do. I know some people love the sound of baby Mario crying and find it funny but it goes right through me lol.
Being honest there is nothing major wrong with this game the controls are decent not as tight as Mario World but there solid no doubt. It looks amazing still holds up pretty well today to be honest. I just find this game boring to play I tried again for this and still coming on 10 years later I can not get into this game.
HBKJASONS SCORE 5.5/10

Don't own a SNES copy, but a GBA one a do! But anyways I really like this game, but the fact that it's titled SMW2: Yoshi's Island is wrong. It should have just been Yoshi's Island, and for that reason Yoshi's Island is ruined for me forever. I give it a score of -1/10.
Nah, I'll give it a real score in a week or whenever it's due.

Just got done playing this for now, and I gotta say. This game is fun yes... But damn baby Mario crying is annoying as . I can remember when I originally got the game I was over excited, my mom surprised me with a copy of the game when I got home from school. I was wicked excited and ripped into the package and played hours of it... I havn't played this game in ages, and I know why lol. I played for a good hour or say and my ears are bleed from the cries... Then again I probley suck at the game, but whatever. Once I finish the game I will come back and edit my post with my real review. What do'es everyone else think of the game?

I played this game not that long ago. I remember enjoying it and I still do. It's worth playing I would say. I never completed and got everything done but enjoyed just it from top to bottom. I give it a thumbs up.

I was exclusively a Genesis kid, so I never had the chance to play this game. One of the things that struck me at first is the art style. It almost looks like the action is taking place inside a giant coloring book. On the surface it looks like a game for younger kids, but looks can be deceiving. The game holds a fair amount of challenge, the downside is that you grow to loathe baby Mario, because if you take a hit (which happens a lot) he starts cry, which WILL haunt you for days. Because I had never played Yoshi's Island, the nuance of being stuck in a bubble on Super Mario Bros Wii was lost on me, so it's nice to know there's a reason for that. All in all, a nice little game.

Forgot to say that "Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy" is an awesome name for a level.

Because of the holiday, I'm extending this for just a LITTLE bit more. And this acts as a handy dandy BUMP.

Yeah, i want to see week 2! :3
I don't own the SNES copy, i own the GBA copy, i loved it as a kid, i bought it in 2005 when i was moving to England, we were going to our connecting flight in Singapore and we stopped by an electrical shop, i saw it amongst a few games and the new DS in a glass cabinet. It was the first game i bought for my brand new GBA SP
Just like Sully, as soon as i got on the plane i ripped into it so fast i actually lost the manual down the seat, wasn't so annoyed being 9 at the time, but now that i'm a collector i'm pretty annoyed that i didn't look for it.
As i remember i loved it, it actually made Yoshi my favorite Nintendo character, i got as far as i could with my platforming skills as a 9 year old and didn't touch it again. I got Yoshi's Island DS alongside my DS lite 2 and 1/2 years later, loved that too.

The lackluster response and me not being on WF all that much sort of sucked the wind out of my sails. But I'll get week two up soon.
