What matches/segments were shown on live WCW/WWF PPVs, but were then cut from the home video/dvd releases? not including dark matches or pre-show stuff

WCW was bad for cutting off matches until 1994 or so. I had tapes of Great American Bash and Beach Blast 93. My local video stores rarely carried WCW tapes so I was always excited to get the WCW catalog and order tapes. They would have 5-6 matches on them, only later did I find out several more matches were cut from the tape. Maybe not great matches but still, not fair to the customer to cut off.
Coliseum video was horrible for editing pre-match intros and chopping matches (1988 Survivor Series) and yet the price tag for the videos was out of this world. Sometimes though Coliseum video would put on some neat exclusives making it a little better like WM III had an awesome pre-show before the PPV started. It was just a few minutes long but a preview of history in the making.
GAB 1991 lacked: News/Eaton v. Taylor/Austin, Simmons v. OZ, Big Josh v. Black Blood (though Blood could be seen returning to the back right before a match), Studd v. Zenk. During the videos first match Jim Ross and Tony S. comment about a previous match (maybe Studd) but I didn't think anything of it at the time.
Beach Blast 93 lacked: Orndorff v. Simmons, 2 Cold/Marcus v. Tex/Shanghai, Regal v. Watts.

I agree the WM 3 Start was great, '30 miles of cable' or something like that

The first several In Your Houses had dark matches that weren't seen until the Tagged Classics series came out I believe. Not entirely sure on that though.

Not sure if it counts but Bradshaw vs Val Venis was advertised on the back of the Rebellion 2000 VHS' yet it never took place as far as i'm aware.
Was it a dark match?

Not entirely sure on that though. i'm sure you used to see matches going on in the background on the countdown to the event, hosted by todd pettingill. are they the matches that are on the tagged series?

Every NWA/WCW PPV from Starrcade 1987 to Beach Blast 1993 were trimmed down to two hours. Prior to that, and sometimes during that time, a lot of matches were edited down. Here's what I came up with that is missing:
Wrestle War '90: Wild Thing: - Kevin Sullivan & Buzz Sawyer defeated The Dynamic Dudes. - Norman the Lunatic pinned Cactus Jack.
Capital Combat '90: - The Road Warriors & Norman beat Kevin Sullivan, Cactus Jack, & Bam Bam Bigelow. - Mark Callous (The Undertaker) pinned Johnny Ace. - Fatu (Rikishi) & Samoan Savage (Tama) beat Mike Rotunda & Tommy Rich.
Halloween Havoc '90: - Terry Taylor pinned Bill Irwin. - Brad Armstrong pinned JW Storm. - Master Blasters Blade & Steel beat Tracey Smothers & Steve Armstrong. - Junkyard Dog pinned Moondog Rex.
Wrestle War '91: War Games: - Ultraman and Eddie Guerrero defeated Rudy Boy and Huichol. - Itsuki Yamazaki and Mami Kitimura defeated Miki Handa and Miss A. - The Wild Eyed Southern Boys (Tracey Smothers and Steve Armstrong) defeated The Royal Family (Rip Morgan and Jack Victory). - Terry Taylor pinned Tom Zenk.
Superbrawl I: - Danny Spivey pinned Ricky Morton. - Nikita Koloff pinned Tommy Rich. - Dustin Rhodes pinned Terrance Taylor. - Big Josh pinned Black Bart. - Oz pinned Tim Parker.
Halloween Havoc '91: -Big Josh & PN News beat The Creatures. -Bobby Eaton pinned Terrance Taylor. -Bill Kazmaier beat Oz. -Van Hammer pinned Doug Sommers. -Brian Pillman pinned Richard Morton.
Superbrawl II: -Marcus Alexander Bagwell defeated Terry Taylor. -Ron Simmons defeated Cactus Jack. -Van Hammer and Z-Man defeated Richard Morton and Vinnie Vegas.
Wrestle War '92: - Johnny B Badd pinned Tracy Smothers. - Scotty Flamingo pinned Marcus Bagwell. - Super Invader pinned Todd Champion. - Big Josh pinned Richard Morton.
Halloween Havoc '92: -Tom Zenk, Johnny Gunn, & Shane Douglas beat Arn Anderson, Michael Hayes, & Bobby Eaton.
Beach Blast '93: -WCW World TV Champion Paul Orndorff defeated Ron Simmons by DQ. -Too Cold Scorpio & Marcus Bagwell beat Tex Slazenger & Shanghai Pierce. -Lord Steven Regal (w/Sir William) pinned Erik Watts.
A lot of the In Your House tapes were cut, namely In Your House 4 and 5, which were cut into one tape called Winter Combat '96. I'll have to look up those differences later. Hope this helps.

Luger-Flair from WrestleWar '90 had 13 minutes of match-time cut out.

I think it's disgraceful that matches are cut off PPVs. I personally loved seeing the Koko/Mountie and Race/Haku matches when the DVD came out.
A customer doesn't go to a restaurant, order the big meal and get only half of what they ordered. Why should they buy a $39.99-69.99 movie and only get 1/3 or 1/2 of the matches? It's not fair but it's so long ago I guess it's in the past.

I think it's really great that you are doing this...please keep us posted on your progress. I'd love to compile or see an online list somewhere with every difference. Here are some off the top of my head, I'll see what else I can come up with later... 1987 Survivor Series This promo was left out on the CHV tape probably because Bam Bam says he wants to burn the building down 1988 Survivor Series is cut to shreds probably more than any other WWF PPV not any matches I don't think but the order of things and different promos. 1993 SummerSlam - This segment was left out of the CHV tape because Hogan and Jake the Snake were mentioned who were out of the company at that point, big no no. It was included on the Anthology DVD however but there were still edits to that however they are only the removal and dubbing of the hotline number I believe. Like I said I'll see what else I can come up with for WWF. Thanks again for bringing up this topic its something I've been wanting to know for awhile now.

The 88 Survivor Series first few eliminations in the Jake team and Warrior team go from elimanation to elimination like Brunzell gets eliminated and then Houston eliminated when in reality there were a few minutes and other wrestlers in the ring. I don't have sound to listen to the youtube but I remember the Undertaker taking the fan's question. It was great the fan was like 'remember when you killed Jake the Snake or at least nearly killed him' and Undertaker kepts repeating Jake the Snake, Jake the Snake.

I had never seen that Summerslam footage before. Why they would put the Undertaker on there is bamboozling to me!

Slamboree 93 had some matches cut off from it too. I know I have some early In Your House shows with the dark matches on them too. It's pretty neat actually to have them.
I think the reason why they cut stuff out was they only dealt with 2 hour long video cassettes at the time. I could be mistaken on that, but it seems like that's how it was.
