I have some questions regarding Brubaker's work on Captain America?
Let me preface this by saying my wife is a fan of the character, she grew up reading Gruenwald's series. I think she owns nearly every Cap comic he has written, but at some point she stopped reading Cap and moved on to literature and other more mature comic titles. Anyways, about a year ago she started rummaging through her old comics and started reading her old Cap and fell in love all over again.
So, I know Brubaker's Cap is highly acclaimed, I know that much, but I nor she knows much of anything else. I bought her some of Ed's Cap HC books at Borders, but I didn't realize this was his second run with the character. It's the #600+ of the original run, I think.
Does his two series' connect or are they independent? I'm trying to figure out if she needs to read his first run before she can delve into the one I picked up?
Thanks for any help!

Brubaker's run on Captain America is considered 'Volume 5'. It's collected into 15 separate collections, and his story is very "beginning, middle, and end". If you were to pick up a trade from the middle of the story, you might find yourself lost.
It's also not several runs, it's one continuous run. Captain America got renumbered at the 600th issue, but the same story still ran.

Oh, ok. The whole renumbering thing threw me for a loop. I was thinking it wasn't continuous, but now I know.
Thanks!

Just want to pop in and say that this is one of my favorite runs on any superhero comic ever. Not so much now with what happened to Bucky, but right up until the last issue before the new #1 it's been fantastic.
