Anyone know what rare one of a kind LJN figs there are out there. Im not talking about the "Black Cards" or the Tag team sets. More in the line of like that Blue Suit Vince McMahon or even prototypes. What do u guys think about this Freddie Blassie pic?? I think its real & not a custom as this was taken in early 1994 & I dont think a lot of people were doing custom LJNS back then. But who knows??

I'm going to guess it's a custom, since I do remember people doing LJN customs in the mid '90s.
Would love to see a better shot of it, though!

I've always just figured that LJN did it for his office the way that they did Vince's. Vince's was rumored to be in honor of LJN's prosperity with the WWF line, perhaps Blassie received one as well due to him being office personnel.

It looks great but considering LJN's actual release went from a Wrestlemania like jacket with silver studs (hard to tell on prototype photos though it looks like it) to just a plain yellow jacket I don't think LJN would've gone through the trouble of making such a great figure as above. Although if it was just one maybe they could get someone to do that for him.
I think with Blassie keep it so prominent on his desk it would be more of a fan's custom than something the company made for him.
There used to be a rumor on the AOL wrestling boards that there was a picture of a Billy Graham LJN at Graham's house though I don't remember seeing that in magazines.

I haven't heard about or seen this blassie one? The only 1's that I'm aware that were specially painted for the owners are the Vince McMahon metallic painted one (The rumor on that one is it appeared in a article (sitting on Vinces desk in the background) but alot of people that took tours of Titan Towers back in the day claimed it was still on display in his office?? and the other figure is Hacksaw Jim Duggan in blue painted attire, This figure was auctioned off by Duggan himself on Ebay years ago (he was a HUGE T-shirt collector) along with his official King of The Ring Robe(The funny thing is that the LJN figure sold for more then the Robe) I'm almost positive that ebay member DrewNickJ won the LJN figure (he has posted on here at wfigs a couple times in the past but never confirmed or denied he owned it)... Hacksaw also owned one of the Rythm and Blues Valentine Hasbro figures. As far as this blassie LJN, It could be possible that LJN did make a special repaint for him because blassie was actually very instrumental in the wwf (alot closer to people then just a on screen character).. If it was just a metallic paint then I would guess it was authentic but with all them sequences things I'm not to sure (even though they are similiar to the prototype painted one on the package) Interesting to say the least...

Too bad it isn't a collector law for everyone who owns something (hopefully amazing) of a wrestling figure item to come forward and post whether it's a prototype of photo of a figure. That would be awesome. LOL. Until then we can just hope that things come out all these years later.

I have that Vince article somewhere. I'd figured you guys had seen that pic already. Will try to post it ASAP if nobody beats me to it. I wasnt aware of that Hacksaw fig. Why would Hacksaw get a special fig?? So does that mean every wrestler got a variant of themselves??? Yes Blassie was very close to the McMahon family even acted as a goodwill ambassador for them during his final years. I agree with you that the sequences on his jacket make it seem more official.LOL

Blassie had a WWF trading card in the 1990 set and in the 1993 set when he hadn't been around for some time. He was in a few WWF magazines, in the back section that had a lot of various news stories. It was cool seeing the once evil heel manager signing autographs for kids or giving his time to toys for tots. It must have broke some kayfabe unless there was a major story how he went from Iron Sheik and Nikolai to being a nice guy. Though with a few years past maybe WWF thought fans would put it behind them.
After he passed his widow was selling some merchandise, it wasn't a lot but the official LJN toy in the package was listed on ebay. I wonder if there is a story behind the special LJN that could easily be told by her.

A few years back I went to New York and did the NBC studio tour. At the end of the tour there was a fairly large section of WWE memorabilia promoting SNME. I took a few photo's, one of this this figure, is it the same as the pic above?

The first pic. shows more sparkly but that might be the camera flash or lighting.
Putting it in the WWF display at NBC makes it seem more like a one of a kind toy rather than a custom a fan might have given to him. I think a fan would have made it much more colorful though the molded sparkles are amazing.

Definitely the same one in my opinion, whether it's genuine or custom I couldn't say though

The more I see this the more I think it's a custom, it looks like someone painted it all black and then glued on black sequins. Thats def not something someone (LJN) would do if they ever had plans to mass produce it (just not time or cost effective).

Interesting stuff. I really wish they would have went with this color scheme for the actual figure since even as I kid I hated the one they used. Yeah, he was an older guy, but they made him look like he should have been sitting in the entertainment room of an old folks home!
