Be persistent if possible. That's about it. I don't have a terrible scalper problem around here, but stock levels are usually low at the stores I frequent. I work one job in Winston-Salem, so I just make it a point to stop in about once a week to Target, TRU, and Walmart since they are all on my route home. (The TRU is actually across the parking lot from where I work!) You can't entirely boycott scalpers, though, and have a good collection. I still have to buy things from Amazon and Ebay from time to time, just always shop smart and be patient with those things. I saw a Zack Ryder sell for 17.99 w/ free shipping on Ebay the other week. An elite with tax at TRU is 17 and some change after tax. And think about the gas saved. Weigh these, because, if you think about it, even Ringside are "Scalpers" (sort of). They have the product at prices higher than retail and vary across the board. Even still, I order things that I think will be hard to find at retail from them and am generally very pleased with their service.

Pre order a whole set for $110 shipped off RSC there your paying retail value basically plus your gas used too travel to all these stores finding those is used for shipping. Then the rest i just order on Amazon, find in stores, or trade or buy off legit board members on here.. If a set drops of Elites, and i only need 1-3 guys from it.. then ill jump on it right away and order those 1-3 guys which still only runs about $70 shipped and thats not bad even.. I was one of those who ended up springing the $30 for Ryder online when RSC was sold out and not getting anymore at the time but still $30 was not even bad for me.. it only gets bad for me when i see figures hittin $40-$50.. then i get a little irritated with that *ahem Kelly Kelly on Amazon. thats utterly ridiculous for sure.. But yeah Pre Order, Pre Order, Pre Order!! If your going too be a die hard WWE figure collector, then pre ordering on RSC is the only way

The best thing you can do is simple: Don't feed the Chumlee's! Also, take advantage of all the resources here.
If you're a completist, pre-ordering full sets from RSC is very cost efficient. Yes, you pay a few dollars more but the amount of time and gas money you save is worth it. You also get these figures weeks ahead of time.
If you only need choice figures, the members here are very good about reporting when new figures arrive. Check your local stores as soon as news hits and you can get an early jump on things. Sometimes, the stores have the new stuff in stock but just haven't put it out. If you find a helpful enough employee, you can get the "scalper's pick" of a fresh case!
If you're still having trouble with older releases, the classifieds section is full of good deals and generous members. The bottom line is, don't overpay! If scalpers don't get their profits, some tend to return merchandise within 90 days. I've toned down my toy runs this year and still found nearly everything at retail. WFigs & RSC have definitely helped me out with my collection, though!

Scalpers while I can understand they do it for the money I always felt bad as a kid because my stores in Florida were always sold out of HBK and Chris Jericho my two favorites. I couldn't be a scalper just because I know what it is like to be the kid that doesn't get the figure they want most. Fortunatly I don't have to put up with that now but I feel for those that do. I still wish there was someone who could swap me for a Mr. Perfect from the legends line. That seems to be the only one that is sold out around here. Just because it is the one I want. However there is a new shipment comming in tomorrow and I plan on going and picking one up. I dunno where in Utah you are, but the Target on 300 West and just off 1300 South had a few Perfects when the Legends were super cheap a few weeks ago so you could try them if you are still looking for one.

If you only need choice figures, the members here are very good about reporting when new figures arrive. That's a double-edged sword, though. You know the scalpers read this stuff too, and they don't have anything else to do so usually after news hits, they're the first at the scene.

The scalpers I run into clearly are not making much off of their "business." I've seen a few socially inept, bald(ing) sweatpants wearers lurking in the toy aisles as well as one frequent dirtball that loads up a cart every time he's in TRU. If I see a scalper, I shoot him the "I'm going to ing kill you if you get within ten feet of that Marvel Universe peg" look and go about my business uninterrupted.

Luckily there's pretty much no scalpers in Australia. Then again, what's the point if all there is are Basic 10 & Elite 8....Argh Mattel Sucks sometimes

Work in retail and get a discount card. No need. I work as a translator and paid by pages translated. Money isn't an issue and I am too lazy to work retail. I have before and that is some hard work which of course I am greatly allergic to. I don't have much in the way of availability issues in my part of town but I know there will come a time when I have to hunt something down and I think the the suggestions that have come up here are good ones. Hopefully I can get into the classifieds section soon enough. I would rather pay to trade with another member than to feed a scalper.

I go to Utah to buy alot of my figures since it's the only place really close. But I usually call down to a Few TRU's before I go to see if they have what I'm looking for and if they do then I have them hold it for me. Or in cases like the Vince promo I knew what day they were being put out so I saved up a few weeks pay and took off early in the morning so I could be there when they opened.
