Was there ever any legit talk about this match actually happening or was it just to get wrestling fans talking?

I do think it was at the time of WMX8, but a finish could never be determined

Without looking at the above posters link; from my memory Hogan vs Austin was the intended plan for WM 18 instead of Rock/hogan but Stone Cold was unhappy at that point in time with the WWE and didnt want to put over hogan. Maybe some animosity towards hogan had something to do with Austins history/wcw days.

Austin was the man at that time, no reason Hogan shouldn't job. Andre did the job to him at WM3. Hogan put over Rock, Taker, Lesnar & Angle that year, what was the problem?

I don't mean WM X-8, I mean when Hogan challenged Austin at Raw Homecoming...thus the video

The Raw homecoming was probably just Hogan going into business for himself, to try and make Austin look silly for then not reciprocating. There was serious talk, but I doubt it was as serious at that point.

I remember that there was talk of Austin vs Hogan at WM18, but they couldn't agree to a finish. When it was changed to Hogan/Rock and Austin/Hall, I remember that the nWo was origionally suppose to go over, but when Austin refused to put Hall over as well, the plan was changed to the WWF guys going over.
IMO the rumor about the nWo guys going over seems far fetched since Vince was burrying every WCW top star he could at the time, but I totally believe that Austin refused to work w/ Hogan, considering all the personal problems he was having back in 2002.
