You can't help but root for Jake Shields on this one. The fact that his dad passed away a few weeks ago and he's still soldiering it out to fight Ellenberger after such a big loss is very admirable. I'm sure everyone would have understood if he had pulled out.

Today also marks the first day of 4 weeks straight of UFC.
Then a two week break, and then another 4 weeks straight! Going to be a crazy next two months.

Missed most of the prelims due to taking a much needed nap after a long night/morning of partying.
I Guess now I'm ready for the main card and the Mayweather fight, as well.

I expected Belcher to him up. I love MacDonald, but he's too one-dimensional.

Wow...Ellenberger smoked Shields...An incredible win. There was about 6 lightning-fast unanswered punches, so I think referee Kevin Mulhall made the right decision to step in and stop the fight. I mean, Ellenberger could've drilled Shields with many more shots, but Mulhall had seen enough.
Some people will probably say it was an early stoppage, but Jake was so out of it, he began to go after the referee. I think it was a good stoppage.

So Condit straight up KTFO of Hardy and now Ellenberger finishes Shields in the first via stoppage. GSP, you have some explaining to do!

It was more or less a joke to how people are already back to bustin' GSP's chops for not finishing fights. I'm a huge GSP fan, but this is getting ridiculous. I'm finding it hard to root for him, especially against Condit, but that's a topic for another thread.

He destroyed Fitch's face, he destroyed Kos's face, he almost ripped Hardy's arm off, and not to make excuses, he was more or less blind in one eye against Shields. He's fine...

It's true, GSP doesn't have the same "killer instinct" that some other guys do.
... That also might have to do with why he wins so many fights. He doesn't let his emotions get the better of him.

I don't understand why GSP continues to get bashed by fans for not finishing fights. Why does he need to finish fights? He's not fighting for the title. The opponent who is trying to defeat him is the one that needs to fight to finish. But all of GSP's opponents are so frightened of him that they don't want to even engage with him. Why would GSP go out of his way to put himself in a position to get caught or submitted? Just because it'll entertain you? Please.

GSP always has the perfect gameplan... he dominates his opponents, without ever getting in trouble. He may not get the stoppages lately, but so what? He beats his opponents with ease and totally outclasses them.
