In an interview with Power Slam magazine WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was asked if he envisages himself returning to the ring. Austin said: “Awww, man. Look, I’ll tell you this much: If I was going to do anything in WWE, I’d do something with Punk,” he added, “Like I said, I love what he’s doing, and there’s a lot of parallels. I’m not saying it’s definitely going to happen, but if I could cherry-pick my opponent, and all the stars lined up, I’d love to work a program with him.”

They need to do it, it would be amazing, with rock/cena and Austin/punk mania 28 would be one of the best ever.

he keeps giving that answer , Punk is the guy he face if he came back. From everything I have read it has everything to do with if Austin feels he is 100% up to one more match.

Here's to hoping that people don't ruin it by being impatient. Think how long they've been talking about Rock/Cena.

Lol my excitement for Rock/Cena went down the toilet ages ago. At first it was like ! .....The thought hit me that a whole year must past first, do you know how much can happen in one day, much less a year? After a while I just, meh, looked at it as a match that's booked early on the card and nothing more. Especially since The Rocks unseen ass has been unseen for a while.

Here's to hoping that people don't ruin it by being impatient. Think how long they've been talking about Rock/Cena. The talk of a potential dream match with Rock/Cena only really started around the time The Rock returned, All the other news/reports about Rock/Cena ever happening were like this: "WWE really want Rock to wrestle Cena but knows it probably will never happen", Even JR and other Wrestlers/Superstars said at that time the match is just a "epic dream match that will never happen" so the talk of Rock/Cena back then were just reports claiming it would never happen even Rock said himself he will never wrestle again but look what happened, It was so hard to ever believe Rock would end up wrestling again as it looked like he really left WWE for good. The real talk of the match ever happening was the night Rock returned, From that night on i knew Rock/Cena would end up wrestling each other and the match was made 1 month later so the real talk of Cena/Rock happening was from Feb-April. Regarding Austin/Punk the IWC wanted that match since 2010, When Austin/Punk were first talking about a match with each other i knew it was just one of those 'It would be awesome but will NEVER happen' but now its almost like Rock/Cena from earlier this year; It seems like the match could go down but the right time needs to occur, Austin and Punk would obviously have creative control and it would turn out great. Imagine the build up and the promos between the two, It would make WM28 possibly the biggest ever. At the end of the day Austin/Punk would own Rock/Cena even though im looking forward to Rock/Cena but Austin/Punk would be a bigger dream match for me.

Literally have no idea how people think Austin vs Punk will be the greatest thing in wrestling history. The invention of Wrestlemania? The creation of WWF? Hulk Hogan vs The Rock? The Rock vs Stone Cold at Wrestlemania 17? The Rock vs Cena? Shawn Michaels vs Ric Flair?
You think that CM Punk vs Austin will beat not even any, but ALL of those things? Mmmkay.
Anyway, I would love the match to happen. As long as Austin is physically fit to make it happen, then it will happen, obviously. They would cut out the rumours there and then in an interview if it wasnt on the cards. Will it be at Wrestlemania 28? That's more difficult to say. Marketing wise, it would be stupid because for the majority of casual fans it will be overshadowed by The Rock vs Cena. However, on the same note it could draw in a small amount of fans who would not have bought the pay-per-view otherwise.
On the other hand, they could market it at Wrestlemania 29 when there isn't a bigger match on the card (like the Rock vs Cena) and therefore it will attract more custom that may not have bought a weak carded Wrestlemania.. However, this runs the risk of WWE coming to the criticism that they feel the need to bring in Attitude Era stars to sell their biggest PPV. Double edged sword.

I hope Punk/Austin happens at Wrestlemania along with Rock/Cena, going back to his shoot promo where he said he should be in the main event at wrestlemania not the rock, he could then challenge Austin "the wwes biggest star ever" and say that him and austin are going to top Cena/Rock

Austin and Punk would pull off a great match if they had the opportunity too.

Am I the only one content with Austin's retirement match at wm19? Nope. I loved that match..it ended the epic Austin/Rock WM trilogy with Rocky finally getting the win. One of my favorite feuds of all time. I'd love to see Austin/Punk (more than Rock/Cena) live at Joe Robbie/Dolphin Stadium (or whatever its called now), but I completely respect the man's decision on what match he wants to be his last.

I would love this to happen at Mania. To have Cena vs Rock, Austin vs Punk, at the top of Wrestlemania, without even getting to Championships, Celebrity appearences and the Undertakers inevitable match, It would be the biggest wrestlemania in years, maybe ever.
