I have never seen these or switches in person, but it disgusts me. If I ever saw someone do this, I would be so tempted to kick em in the teeth. Although, I would probably just report them, lol.

Every manufacturing company has a loss account that factors in stolen/damaged merchandise. It's one of the factors that goes into the price determination. This is also combined with the distributors loss account, consequently hiking the prices more. It was a safeguard feature implemented several years ago to keep companies from losing money. That's pretty much why products are so high even in the face of a struggling economy. It's also why stores like target can put stuff that was once $15, on clearance for like $2. The loss account gets factored in before they settle on a retail price. SO we can gripe about it all we want, companies aren't gonna do much to change it if they know they're still gonna get paid.

i've encountered the same problem at wal-marts... one time all the dh smiths shirts were stolen along the with dx triple h shirts... and at another one, all the belts were gone from drew mcintyre.. elite 10 havent hit my area yet but when it does, i'm sure ill be running into a bunch of big shows without the belts ESP when it comes with two.. sigh....

I'm gonna go with that it's probably the scalpers and or children. The scalpers would steal the belts so they could sell them for let's say $5-10 each. The children will steal them for their figures. When Hot Wheels used to have the Mystery Car series, which had blacked out blisters, so you have to buy the car to see what is inside, you would find blisters that were opened and or cars were stolen. I never had this happen when I look for figures though.

Thankfully this crap doesn't occur around me. Only one I recall of Mattel is Elite Morrison missing his jacket once.

here at my country they open the packages to see if is complete and then they leave it on one side. when my mom got me my ESR it was open, she check it complete and was complete the only thing that had extra was a package of red ropes with some string like for the corners and the ring instructions didnt say it comes with that. but i have never seen people opening figures to stole there stuff or changing the figures to get their money back. mattel and the stores need to do something i hate when people do that to make money instead of working to get what they want like honest people and working people. is like scalpers i really hate them to they should work for a honest life and dont pick up all the figures that are hot to sell them for alot of money, i would never pay 35 bucks for one figure not even a 2 pack. the only figure im gonna pay 49 bucks is for the SDCC undertaker at RSC because is hard to find and i really want it

I find it funny we blame the stores or Mattel for this. Mattel has no blame as they could care less what happens at retail with their packaging. By then they have their money. The stores have no blame as they simply don't care. If the item can't be sold on clearance then it can be either returned to the manufacturer or just counted as a loss. With Wal-Mart's "$50 in theft or it isn't worth our time" policy I doubt they will do anything.

My walmart used to have problems like that but they remodeled it and put cameras on every aisle.

I've seen the Mattel for Jakks switches and accessories being stolen at other stores, but thus far I haven't seen it at our WalMart. I've seen some Rumblers stolen, but thats about it.

Last time I was at Meijer, there was a Rumbler ring that was opened, with John Cena missing.
...I bought it.
It was only $7.50, I already have the $40 Target cage match set, and I needed another ring so I could use it without having to remove and replace the cage all the time. For some reason, there were also two lite brite pegs in the box...kinda weird.

The Elite packages suck and need to be redone, something where the bubble is secured to the card and not just a piece of tape to hold the entire $15-16-17 figure and everything else in place. Its the most intellectually- disabled honor system. I just gave up and bought some belts on ebay cause I don't feel like searching for Big Show and finding him without belts seeing as the belts are the only thing I want.

I remember when E8 started hitting here the only figure I couldn't find was Drew Mcyntire, so when I saw it sitting in the front of the isle, I rushed to it, but when I got to it, no belt! I was so pissed, but picked up a Sheamus. Took me another week to find a Mcyntire.

With Wal-Mart's "$50 in theft or it isn't worth our time" policy I doubt they will do anything. Well, prob cause it IS the stores fault.. it is there store after all. They are the ones who hire security, secret shoppers, and install cameras and if ppl are still doing this, then there obviously not doing there jobs or making any improvements too try and catch the thieves. Its not Mattels fault, they got there money for selling to the store and the packaging is fine.. it does not matter how you package a toy ppl are gonna steal it really easy until they get put behind glass cases or locked with little electronic alarms. Get what im saying? Anyone could walk down the toy aisle and steal any toy they want no matter the packaging so that does not make the slightest difference here.. Like i said its the stores security, they are the ones help responsible i mean if its happening over and over again and there not doing jack about it and there the ones who are suppose to be. Its there fault. Also, ppl who see this stuff and come right home and do online threads about it rather then reporting it too store security, its there fault too. Ppl who see this and say nothing, your the reason that this continues whether you want too hear it or not. If you reported it, they obviously would tighten up security for it and at least know about it then. If you tell them and they do nothing then its the stores fault. Start buying online you dont have too deal with this garbage. Its funny i hear so many ppl complain about this yet continue buying at retail when its so much easier for ANYONE good credit or bad, to get a card and get your figures online and delivered safely

Saying Mattel's packaging is not an issue is simply not true. Let me start out by saying that I buy things at retail mostly because I don't like putting people out of work (as someone who worked at a video store for four years, I know a thing or two about being put out of work because of the "let's just get it online attitude.") Theft will always be an issue, nothing will stop it, but things do impede it. Several years ago I used to collect Marvel Legends, and I mean hardcore collect. Never saw any theft. I hardcore collected Bandai's Mobile Suit Gundam Toy line. I saw no theft. I collected the DC Universe Classics for a year and only saw one case of theft. I collect most of the TNA deluxe impact figures. No theft. I collect Mattel WWE figures and I see theft and figure swapping every week at almost every store I go to. That's three Wal-Marts, Two K-marts, Two Targets, and 1 TRU. Every week with the theft. I'm damn frustrated with the stores for sure, but most stores these days run with skeleton crews, and Loss Prevention has their priorities all wrong. The store I work at has loss prevention up our nose at the moment and they seriously see no reason to have cameras or at least mirrors, because the believe the same mantra all corporate has, these four little words : DO MORE WITH LESS. The only reason that there is twice as much theft on these toys than any of those other lines I stated is because of how easy it is. Silently peel one piece of tape back and quietly stick your finger in and pull it out. I know that if these figures were in a clamshell package that people could just take a box cutter to them, but I don't ever see that on NECA figures or on the old Marvel Legends, because it takes too long. Cardbacks make too much noise when you rip them open. Toy lines like Gundam had a "lid" over the tray that was taped on 4 sides in addition to being securely sealed on a card with tape over every accessory. Mattel's WWE figures just fall out of the tray with little to no effort when you take them out. So, is retail an issue? Yes. Is Mattel's flimsy excuse for packaging an issue also? HELL YES.

I live in town with a guy who when we were younger, use too steal Marvel Legends from every store 2 hours away.. he got the whole set for free, so no, the packaging does not make a difference.. i know another guy who use too walk right into spencers, grab the biggest box of lights, inflatable aqua teen dolls, etc and just walk right out the door with it.. so no matter what you package toys with, if a thief wants it.. he is goin too get it.. its all about protecting your merchandise.. i mean you would protect your home from thieves right? get renters insurance, locks, set up cameras if ya had too and had a prob with that so why wouldnt a store? the packaging does not make a difference at all.. unless maybe they lock it down too the pegs where customers have too ask the workers too get it for them and take it to the register or something, but yeah, saying the packaging is the reason ppl are stealing now thats just dumb im sorry lol but you gotta agree that if ppl want something there gonna get it.. and its up too that retail store too prevent it from happening. Our wal mart has great security in town.. cameras everywhere, secret shoppers walking around.. i mean there are ppl in the paper everyday for shop lifting charges and ya know what? no one wants too go steal from there because they know there gonna get busted and its not worth it... the ones who do try it, always get caught.. so good security means good merchandise where as if you go on the honor system and dont have security, ppl are going too mistake your kindness for weakness and rob your ass clean.. but seriously? Packaging? come on dude ha i know ppl who stole Nintendo Wii's, PS3's and 360's outta wal mart too so packaging is NOT going too matter

Happened to me with Elite 9 Miz, took me a few times to find him without being tampered, til I found a good one. I found Elite 10 Kane, but it was missing the World Title. Sucks.

I have to say I had a hell of a time getting my WM27 Miz out of the bubble because they had looped a rubber band around his hand and then through the bubble and around the belt. Made a heck of a lot of noise too. So maybe that's what needs to be done from now on. That or twist ties.
