What's the downside of accepting it?

I got this email too, asking if I wanted to 'receive revenue' for my vids. Is it legit?

Thing is, for your pic fed. You cant use audio that you dont own. Cause you cant make money using something owned by someone else. (Copyrighted music) So unless you do like your own commentary for you videos its a bad idea. I got 1300+ subscribers and i have been offered partnership too but i never accepted it. I read somewhere that you can choose what videos get ads put on them to make money off that one video you selected. But i dont know if you do that or not. Edit: www.youtube.com/creators/partner-program-policies.htmlWhat i was talking about:

I believe they just delete your videos if they have copyrighted material in them at all. I've had an offer, but I don't want to accept it since I use a lot of game footage, and even that is a no-go with their plan. A selective ad-enabled video program sounds like a very ideal compromise, but this is the first I've heard of that.

You can use copyrighted material in your videos through the fair use policy.

What's the downside of accepting it? Well they look at your videos more and are more tough on them. So if it has copyright they will remove it immediately

I remember getting offered it back when they started the whole partnership thing but I turned it down for a couple of reasons. The main one being I don't even make videos any more. The videos I had on there were just a pic fed that I made in like 06 when I was 14 and nobody watches that stuff any more anyway so it was pointless.
I just wish I could go back in time and do gaming videos back then instead. If I had I could have EASILY made a couple thousand subs by this time and would be making some nice money on the side but it's too late now.

I was offered it but never really decided since a lot of my videos have copyrighted music.

Question, can you click on the ads your self and get money? yeah, but i think they track the IP addresses or something so if you do they'd probably just take away your partnership. at least thats what it says in the rules. i have multiple computers in my house though so i just go on them and click on my adds
