I want to make a ring for my backyard. It would be used on sand. Me (I'm 15) my younger brother, and my friends would use it. How can I make one that is inexpensive? I don't want it to be more than $200 total, which means I am definitely willing to cut corners. I just want it to be safe for me and especially my younger brother. Links would be helpful.

Don't build a ring, and for definitely don't use sand.. Build a base. Ask your question on a website called thegbywn.com.

^Old Mattreses and lay a thick layer of cardboard on top. then take a tarp over it. for a soft base. No, no, and more no. If you want a good base, here's how you do it from bottom to top: Tires, Mattresses, Pallets, 1/2" think Plywood, 2 layers of carpet padding, 1 layer of carpet, tarp/canvas. The tires and pallets are not a neccesity, but it will add good height to the base. If you decide against the pallets, then you will need additional pieces of wood to lay underneath the top layer of wood so that they have something to screw into. Definitely secure your wood down with a drill and screws. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

unless you can actually work, dont build a ing ring. As a trained worker, I 100% disagree with you. You know how many guys are "trained" and are absolutely horrible working the Indy Scene? Everyone has to start somewhere and not everyone even wants to make it in the business and some just want to have fun.

I agree that if you dont know how to work you have no business building or owning your own ring. Used to be you had to learn how to set up a ring completely before you learned to take bumps. No matter what you do, no backyard ring will equal a REAL ring, you take bumpa in a backyard ring and you dont feel much, but as soon as you step in a real ring and take just ONE bump you'll notice the difference and often they p*ssy out after that.
Just wanting to have fun is no excuse for not wanting to do things right, you wanna have fun thats fine but you still dont wanna get hurt or hurt someone else

and you condone someone who doesnt know how to take a proper bump building their own ring? what a great worker you are... Times are different in the year 2011. Backyard Wrestling often gets tons of flack. It's no different than playing tackle football in a backyard, or basketball on the street. Yet, athlete's that play in those sports will never talk down upon people playing in there backyards for the love of the game. Life is full of risks. Get into a car and driving is a huge risk but people still do it. There's no legitmate reason why someone can't BYW if they want to. I'll never understand why other Pro Workers have this egotistical logic. I agree that if you dont know how to work you have no business building or owning your own ring. I've been in tons of different rings, from all different makers. Monster Rings, High Spots, you name it, I've probably bumped in it. I've built bases that bumped just like rings. Interesting fact, Roderick Strong trained guys like Erick Stevens on a base in his backyard.

Often times the first thing a father does or hell you even learn it in gym class or from other kids in the neighborhood. My only thing against it is do it smart, dont do stupid crap that you know will shoot hurt the other person. Youtube will teach you how to take a bump.

That's what I'm getting at. It's pretty easy to get educated on the basics to working a match these days. Guys actually want to go out and wrestle now a days. Backyarding isn't like it used to be where people we're just going through tables and breaking light tubes.

and you condone someone who doesnt know how to take a proper bump building their own ring? what a great worker you are... A) I know 100% how to take a proper bump. B) If you're not going to give any helpful tips on building a ring or base, leave.
