So I drafted an Auction League this year, like I have in years past. This year, my team ended up with great depth in the WR position, but questionable at RB. My current team is:
QB: Josh Freeman, Matt Hasselbeck
RB: Frank Gore, Willis McGahee, Steven Jackson, Marshawn Lynch, Brandon Jacobs, Steven Ridley
WR: Roddy White, Hakeem Nicks, Mike Wallace, Nate Washington, Sidney Rice
TE: Dustin Keller
DEF: Bears
K: Jason Hanson
So I think, I could use another more solid RB to add to my RB depth and I have three number 1 receivers on my team, I think it will be worth trading. I look through some of my competitors rosters and make this trade offer to someone who didn't have a lot in terms of starter quality.
I get:
Andre Johnson
Rashard Mendenhall
I give:
Mike Wallace
Marshawn Lynch
Brandon Jacobs
I didn't really think much of it, I just thought this trade would benefit me in the long term, and him in the short term, which in the end is what I wanted. In the end, he declined the trade, but cited Jacobs as the "deal breaker" rather than Lynch, who I figured would be the reason the trade wouldn't go through. I later receiver an email with a counter offer of the following:
I get:
Andre Johnson
Rashard Mendenhall
Robert Meachum
I give:
Mike Wallace
Marshawn Lynch
Nate Washington
I thought this trade was even better for me than the previous, as I wouldn't have to fill an empty slot on the roster for someone who isn't going to perform as well. Again, I feel in the long wrong this trade will do wonders for me as I have upgraded my RB for the sake of risking that Johnson's injury will make his season not as productive. Do you guys think this trade was a risk worth taking? I already accepted it, I was just wondering what your opinions are.
