Man, I'm really glad none of you work for Mattel. Lol ok , cuz they are doing a great job throwing the classic brand down the drain by themselves

I agree with Apoc though, Mattel has made some bone-headed decisions that have resulted in poor sales. At the risk of Boss Bill coming in here and blaming us again, maybe they need to revisit their marketing strategy ~ do some honest-to-god historical market research and find out why Jakks classics worked for all those years while this Legends line tanked within a year. Thats just it.. Jakks did so well, because they brought the world the first ever WWE Action figures that there arms and legs and heads actually moved, as well as there body's turning and knees bending etc.. Hasbro had alot of arms only type deals and not all those were the same.. so when Jakks produced there Figures, it turned out too be success for them because so many wrestling fans wanted the legneds with better arm movement, leg movement etc.. Now, Mattel is doin the same thing with there product with only better articulation and design, but ppl already dropped how much money on Jakks version of Classic superstars and there RSR rings.. Alot of ppl already bought what they wanted with Jakks and feel no need too change over and start collecting altogether again so its hard too get that classic line going again because Jakks collectors already bought all those legends and dont wanna buy more. I personally would rather buy Mattel and have been but there are thousands out there who would say different. Esp in a time where the economy is in a recession.

The target market, like it or not, is kids. We are the minority here, we buy figures to collect, not play with. If they want to pull a line that only collectors buy, they have all the right to.

I think the whole "I already have Jakks so im not buying Mattel" is overblown. I have tons of CS figures but id buy the exact same figure I have in cs in mattel form. My problem with mattel is that I can't find them lol. I mean my ealmart doesn't carry legends and the nearest TRU is usually behind.

Apoc, I'm willing to bet dollars-to-donuts, Flashbacks are about current guys' older gimmicks, e.g. Kane in his debut mask and Godfather as a voodoo doctor. I'm willing to bet future Flashbacks (oxymoron?) will be HBK in 90s attire, Bret Hart in variations of pink attire, Trips in all his similar black-trunks attires, etc. Guys like Earthquake, Hercules and Dino Bravo require unique head sculpting and possibly body sculpts, and they're all dead. I don't think that's what the vision of the Flashbacks are about. Mr. Perfect, Bam Bam, Rick Rude and Kerry Von Erich worked in a Legends line even if they are deceased. But for Flashbacks? meh, don't think so. Flashback from what?! A Mr. Perfect flashback was when he was wrestling in the AWA in blue trunks, not the two-toned wrestling singlet he's known for. "Flashback" = a look back at a current stars' previous gimmick/attire I'm going to disagree with you here, Charles Wright hasn't been on the WWE roster since I BELIEVE 03-04, I HOPE we get some past names, but they will have to be very colorful attires and huge names (I.E. Warrior, 92-94 era Macho, maybe a navy blue Collosal Connection era Andre *crosses fingers*). I do however believe we may see in late 2012-2013 a retail return of proper "Legends" series if Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan are signed.

Conspiracy? Did Mattel purposely devalue the WWE toy license by throwing the Legends in the crapper? When WWE was still with Jakks and looking for a new deal they were able to negotiate with an advantage. They had potentially 40 years worth of characters to turn into action figures. Now they only have the current roster and a small amount of A-list Legends. WWE toys have lost a great deal of power headed into the next round of negotiations whether it be Mattel or some other company. Wow, you really do think it's a conspiracy. That's awesome. This board is amazing sometimes.

FlexForce are & rumblers are sold in toy stores, dept stores, grocery stores and pharmacies and at $10 and under are easier to sell to the general public than $20 + EG/DM which really only we the collectors buy. As much as I love DM...my TRU still has plenty of Rock/Warrior/HHH & Steamboat on the pegs. My 3 closest KMarts still have tons of Macho Man.
And although I don't buy FF (other than HHH & Orton) I do see them moving because everytime I go to TRU/Target they are filled but with figures that weren't there the last time I was there. So someone other than the retailers are buying them.
