The series' final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 doesn't hit home video until November 11th (arriving on DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D) and when it does, it appears that it will only be available for a limited time. On December 29th, all eight films are going on moratorium, meaning that copies will no longer be printed and that, after that date, new stores will not be able to reorder more.
The sales move, made famous by Walt Disney Home Video and its routine placement of its animated fare in the "Disney Vault", will certainly pave the way for a re-release somewhere down the line, though no official announcements have been made as to when the Potter films might reappear. Details from the official press release are as follows:
Harry Potter, the #1 motion picture franchise of all time, will soon disappear from shelves, as Warner Bros. stops shipping all Harry Potter theatrical film titles (including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ – Part 2, and Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection) as of December 29, 2011 (moratorium does not include digital – Electronic Sell-Through & VOD – or games). The Harry Potter franchise has grossed more than $12.1 billion for Warner Bros. Entertainment – with $7 billion at the worldwide box office for Warner Bros. Pictures and $5.1 billion for Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

It's a great marketing tactic and scare ploy from Disney, that I am surprised more studios haven't adopted.
Own it now, or you'll NEVER be able to get it again!!!!
(until we release a new edition 2 years later, that you will also buy)

Haha I originally thought it was the name for their big box set, and im like "Why dont I recognize that name from the Potter world? Doesnt matter, cuz I will OWN this Moratorium Edition!!!".
Anyways, when I get Part 2 on two-disc it'll complete my Potter collection, the only thing this moratorium gets me about is the Ultimate Edition Blu rays which I wanted every copy on.

Yeah, they kind of messed up the whole Ultimate Editions thing that they have been slowly releasing. I think they only made it to 5 right? I have yet to buy any, but those packages looked pretty sweet.

Alright well you can still get them used and this will only further increase piracy of the film if it dissapears.

Theyre well worth it if its for the right price - they each come with unique documentaries: one about the sets, the characters, and so on, and they aired on E! before and theyre incredible docs.

As rampant as torrenting is, it still only represents a very small group of consumers. Your average consumer doesn't even know what a torrent is, let alone know how to do it. Just like Star Wars, and all of the Disney movies, every time they "re-release it for the last time, EVER!!!" it will sell like gangbusters.
