I was having an argument with a buddy of mine about who was better Punk or AJ. While I agree Punk is light years ahead of AJ on the mic, 10/10 I would rather see AJ in the ring.
No offense to any Punk fans but idk he is very average in the ring. He doesn't do anything that makes me go WOW! And I feel his finisher is weak, nothing special about it. Not trying to start any arguments just curious if anyone feels this way?
While all wrestlers are lacking something I think AJ is the best wrestler in the world today.
Thoughts?

AJ Styles has been very bland in the ring for the passed 2 years now. He's pretty much stopped flipping all together which was something he really had going for him. And no offence but the Styles Clash is a very weak finisher. When you think about it, the person is barely even falling and guy on top of them barely weighs anything to really do any damage. The GTS is getting thrown up in Flapjack from a firemans carry and coming down to a knee in your face. Way more effective.
Not to mention, Punk is the overall complete package. AJ Styles is like John Morrison - All Style, no Substance.

Neither one of them really tell a story in the ring, and both have a one-dimentional character that fans in the long run will hardly remember.

Both guys have different styles. You can't really compare them. Punk is more of a straight up wrestler who can go with the best of the best on the mic and in the ring while Styles can do some amazing things, he isn't the best talker. I'm a huge fan of both guys and I can't really pick one over the other.

You can't really compare guys in two different companies. Punk's wrestling style has been WWE-ized whereas I'm sure TNA gives AJ and their wrestlers more freedom as far as working their matches.

Like when HBK hit the super kick he would hear the smack or the sound when the Rock does the rock bottom. The crowd would react with that roar. Punk picks them up and throws his knee at them, no impact, no sound, I feel that takes away from the crowd reaction. If a person has never seen AJ or Punk wrestle before and saw them both do their finishers for the first time, I feel the Styles Clash would stand out more. It's different. How many guys used a similar finisher, Cena, Lesnar?

The clash is good too but the GTS just looks more devastating if the person taking it sells it right. Morrison always does a splendid job taking it

AJ used to be awesome...like legitimately one of the best in the world but he defiantly has lost a step the past year or so...especially after his amazing series against Angle

No offense to any Punk fans, not trying to start any arguments You're not talking good of Punk on the internet. How could that possibly be not taken as offense? ![:P](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/tongue.gif) All joking aside, I agree with you. I prefer Punk on the mic, but AJ Styles in ring. However in my opinion, Punk is just above average to me. He doesn't do anything to make me go "Oh my ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) ing god! WOW!", but at the same time, I enjoy his in ring work.

I would rather listen to Punk on the mic. But I would rather watch an AJ match.
Kind of a toss-up for me.

Personally I prefer Cody Rhodes over both. But on topic, I'd go with Punk, I love AJ, but I he's not even enough to keep me tuned in to TNA. I enjoyed him the best when he was part of the Christian Coalition, but not much since then. Punk's just better overall. And like it's been stated, the Styles Clash is one of the weakest finishers ever. I'd only vote it over the overdrive. GTS>Styles Clash.

We all know punk is amazing on the mic.
I would say Punk is probably one of the better wrestlers in the WWE, but the bad thing I always notice about Punk is that he's pretty sloppy and I catch him messing up his moves often.
Then again, I was more of a wrestling fan when I would watch weekly matches featuring Guerrero, Angle, Benoit and Mysterio... I figure it's kind of impossible to get to their in-ring skill level these days...
As far as AJ Styles goes, for a second i thought he was one of the most amazing wrestlers on TV. Too bad I can't stand TNA so I can't comment on how he's doing these days...

AJ Styles is the basically been the Shawn Michaels of TNA. While Cm Punk is one of the biggest star of the WWE right now. I would have to give it to AJ Styles, solely on because how much of a legend he has become since he's been in TNA.
