Hey guys! Just wanting to have some classic fun here on the classics board and talk about some of our favorite underrated classic gimmicks. Over the years we've seen just about everything from garbage men, hog farmers, clowns, baseball players, hockey players, Samoan SWAT teams, Fake Diesel and Razor and many many more. I'm just wondering what some of your favorites are and whether or not you thought they could have been utilized better or pushed farther. Two pop into my head immediately... Evil Doink Isaac Yankem D.D.S. I thought both of these gimmicks were fun and Matt Bourne/Glen Jacobs did a great job of playing their roles. I thought evil Doink had a lot left in the tank before he became the happy go lucky clown. I know Matt Bourne had a lot of demons though... I'm not sad that Glen Jacobs ended up as Kane but I always felt Isaac Yankem had more potential than what we saw. I've never seen the Summerslam match with Bret Hart but I heard it was good. I do remember a steel cage match from RAW between Isaac Yankem and Bret Hart with Jerry Lawler held above the cage in his own cage. That match was a blast! I wish we would have got more Isaac Yankem and less Fake Diesel. They could have slowly dropped the "evil dentist" stuff and just made him a big bad monster who just used to be a dentist. Anyway...who are your picks?

Berlyn I always thought the character had great potential but was ruined by bad timing, corporate censorship and all the other crap WCW was going through at the time. Alex Wright was also a great talent. And I was a huge fan of The Wall too.

To bad they never did much with him.

I would have to go with Evil Doink. That was one of the best characters ever and it was killed fairly quick.
I would say Papa Shango cause in my opinion he was very under used for his character. They could have done a lot more with it.

Dan Severn comes to mind, he could have done pretty well as "The Beast."
Shame he was injured.

Waylon Mercy
Dan Spivey's character could've been interesting,as a psychopathic type of gimmick, who could seemingly snap at any moment, during the time when the WWF was still in "safe mode" before the Attitude Era began to dawn....

I missed the Waylon Mercy stuff the first time around but I've caught some of his stuff on Youtube because of his cult following and he was VERY unique.

i'm not sure if you could call him underrated but i always liked the Akeem gimmic.
also i'd have loved to have seen more done with Giant Gonzalez.
sure he was an awful wrestler, but i've always had a soft spot for him.

RepoMan, I mean the man stole the WWF title from Savage and then kind of died off.
Kwang, Feuded with Taker and then they killed the character.
Nailz, I really like this gimmick. And it did not last very long either.
Loose Cannon Brian Pillman, He was doing what CM Punk is doing now but in the mid 90's.
Ludvig Borga, I don't know what it was about him but I thought the American/Un-american feud was great.
Shockmaster, lol jk!
I will think of more and my reasons for them later!

man I salivate at the thoughts of Pillman being around in 98 when Austin was champ.
how would they have used him?

Raven, along with Taz were misused their whole runs on WWF. Ken Shamrock is another man that could've been a main eventer and possibly have a brief World Title run, just go back to 1998 when he was a face and notice how over he was.
