"The character has got a lot of different directions that it can still go down," he tells SLAM! Wrestling. "There are always new dragons to slay. There's a number of fresh programs (possible) with some great up-and-coming talent, guys like Gunner and Crimson. Guys like Ken Anderson that I haven't worked a lot with, or Bully Ray who I've never really worked with. Personally, I'm as hungry now as I was nine years ago when I first started full-time with TNA. I'm very proud of what I've accomplished, like winning all four major titles, and being a main event heavyweight contender for so many years. I've worked hard, and it's paid off. But I think there's till so much more that I can do."
Park says he's open to Abyss losing his trademark mask, a direction he would not have been comfortable with years ago.
"Five or six years ago, I would have been more resistant to it," he said about the idea. "But now I'd be open to it. The character has had a great run -- both TNA and I have gotten an awful lot out of it. Losing (the mask) would let me create a new presentation of the Abyss character, give me an opportunity to do different things that I haven't done over the years, put a little more of Chris Park in it."

Instead of taking it off, he should put more of it on, specifically covering up his mouth so he can't speak.

he's really just not relevant in TNA anymore in my eyes, and they dont use him in proper fueds, I dont think he'd fit PG era WWE, but I think in Japan? He'd be bigger than he was in TNA

Instead of taking it off, he should put more of it on, specifically covering up his mouth so he can't speak. Agree. The Monster pretty much died when he became the The intellectually- disabled person teaming with Hogan. That whole angle stunk of Hogan/Evad Sullivan.....Evad is Dave spelled backwards cuz dude was a intellectually- disabled person.

I was about to say the same thing. Going from Mankind to Cactus Jack. Heck it could be even worse, I mean imagine Dude Love. But seriously, I miss the old Abyss from about 2004-2008 where he never spoke. He was such a believable monster. He went from having classic Hardcore Brawls with Sabu and guys like that to stomping around and acting like a 5 year old. Regardless of what he does, he can't make his character any better to me as of right now. I hope I can be proven wrong honestly.

I honestly don't care one way or another. I remember vivdly back in 2005 (I think?), when I watched him vs. Jeff Hardy falls count anywhere. It was like the match that got me back into pro wrestling. I've never liked big men wrestlers (there's a handful I find tolerable) but for the most part they're sloppy and boring to watch. Abyss though was just ing crazy, and I was immediatey drawn to that mystique of his character. Now, some years on, his character's gone through so much BS (including that whole superhero ring, mentally challenged persona and 'Janice'). Why should we care about him after the way TNA's handled his character these past few years?

I think James Mitchell is the only person that can save the Abyss character.
Have him come back and slap some sense into Abyss, and guide him again like when they were first paired together in 2005.

I really haven't cared for "Mankind-of" for years. And it would take a lot more than unmasking for him to become entertaining again.

C'mon man, he should learn from Psicosis's mistakes and leave it on. His unmasked face isn't marketable.
