Because it worked so well for Kane........ Kane continued to have a solid career when his mask came off. Kane went on to be a shell of his former self. He was only a monster when he first unmasked, and that was in a feud against Shane  ing McMahon. Then he went on to become Undertakers bitch, and nothing of real value untill his World Title win. Then even though he dominated the Undertaker he still took backseat to the Deadman. But I guess I cant blame the mask, Kane started to blow when he was saying sh** like "freaks rule!" I like my Kane as a voiceless monster. Same way I like my Abyss....... |

Therefore, Kane has spent more time wrestling without his mask and has acheived more longevity as a result.
Why Abyss would be any different I have no idea.
