So I am traveling and I decided to stop by a Wal*Mart and I, of course, find all of Elite 10. However, there was this gem... Luckily there was an elderly female employee stocking the lame Pirates figures so I politely informed her of the issue and she said "it's just silly wrestling dolls." As a wrestler I took offense to this, and just mentioned "do they not pay you enough to have job satisfaction, or do you enjoy anarchy and theft?" She looked at me with a "now young man" expression but decided not to rebuttal. So down the road was a Target. I decided to stop in... Jackpot. I got all of Elite 11. I only took the photo of these because, frankly, doing this from my phone is rather difficult. I also found Ted with green trunks solely because I know people need him, so he'll be in my trade thread for cost. A Target employee asked me if I needed any help and said they got a shipment in every Tuesday and if I needed anything to just let him know (turns out he was hitting on me, but hey, to each their own). Very nice young man. The laziness and apathy of employees is absurd. This is why I paid $17 a piece for these things... theft!

Honestly dude, these Wal-Mart employees don't make enough to care. Don't get me wrong. I firmly believe if you have a job you should do your best and take pride in it. But that's not how most people feel.
I think this is getting beyond epidemic; it's almost pandemic in proportion. It's now in my area and seemingly spreading. Mattel really needs to take drastic measures NOW to fix this. But then again, how can you blame them? Clearly these packages were ripped open! That didn't stop anybody! There is no package what will stop someone who is willing to open tear it up right there in the store!
That Big Show and Kane are now near worthless in my opinion, because no educated fan or collector will buy them. I just hope some poor mom or dad doesn't pick them up for little Johnny for Christmas, and then he unwraps to find the elite-style belt he's been craving is missing!
I don't think they're any real solution other than beefed up security.

I work at Walmart sadly not in the toy dept. Before I clock in I always check the Toy Department. In my usual run I saw an Elite Undertaker and its accessories completely missing from the box. So I saw one of the assistant managers and gave her the box and said somebody stole it. So she took it to claims where the stolen or tampered packaging goes. It's not the employee's fault either, its the type of packaging that Mattel gives Elites. The elderly employee who said they were just wrestling dolls, just doesn't understand the collectors point of view.

i believe a blister pack like this would be the only answer, however that probably cost more so not sure its an option.

Something similar happened to me a couple of years ago. I was on the prowl for months trying to find this... And I had FINALLY found one at Walmart and the Alpine figure (the one I wanted to most of coarse) was stolen from the box. I stopped what had to have been a manager to inform him that it was stolen. And all he says is "yeah we don't have anymore of those" and he puts it back on the shelf! And I get the whole "they don't make enough to care" but I worked at a department store before and I always helped customers out with their wrestling figures needs. To the point where they would call the store and ask for me. All I ask for is some effort. And maybe some common courtesy.

I've learned to not even ask for any assistance from employees at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or Target. If they don't have it out, I don't concern myself with it. When I did, they would only tell me that everything that they had was out. But then again, I'm sure that these jobs weren't the first choices. I might be apathetic if I were working for minimum wage, too.

Let's imagine it's a three-piece clothing set for women. It has a skirt, a top, and a headband. Let's say the headband was clearly ripped from the packaging that held it all together.
Now imagine you work at this retail shop. Maybe it's Wal-Mart. And a woman walks up to you and says, "Somebody stole the headband from this set!" What would do about it?
I'd say, "I'm sorry. There's nothing I can do about it." I know my bosses won't care about a headband, just like they wouldn't care about a toy's title belt. They got bigger fish to fry.

it doesnt surprise me anymore.. i simply never expect a friendly and or helpful employee ever while shopping @ Target, Especially Kmart & Walmart & TRU.. so when i do encounter a person with a smile and an outgoing personality it makes my shopping experience better!!.. but hasnt happened in a while.. months ago a cute girl @ tru was very kind and helpful, so i went online and wrote an email to the store manager thanking him for her great service.. she told me 2 months later then he brought it up in a meeting infront of every other employee, she was soo happy and thankful.. but i constantly encounter horrible people working @ tru & kmart & walmart...
last week i approached a Kmart employee and asked him " excuse me sir, is there any chance you might have more WWE figures in the back ? ".. he replied " no what ever is out is what we have ." 45 seconds later i found a little adorable old lady and asked her the same question, she said " hold on sweetie, i'll go look for you.." 8 minutes later... the little awesome old lady came from out the back with a Legends Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Legends Demolition Smash!!.. she said " these 2 were the only wrestling figures i could find for you back there! "...typical
at tru 1 month ago, i climbed the two shelves to reach a sealed box that said mattel wrestlemania , a young girl approached me and scolded me like i was beating up her boyfriend.. it was funny, but i just ignored her, no1 was around to help me, and the young dork i asked to get it for me 10mins ago claimed he wasnt allowed to.. so i grabbed it, checked but it was full of basics so i then placed each one neatly on the racks...ehh i could go on and on and on and on....
the truth is within few yearsss.. all these stores will become more computer-ized less lowed payed carelesss workers.. you can see it already with grocery stores..saves company money but less jobs for the economy but all of you know how many people working at walmart are completely useless.. any of you who work hard and take pride in your job i respect you

i believe a blister pack like this would be the only answer, however that probably cost more so not sure its an option. Nope! wouldnt work! nothing but a 3 second walk too the hardware aisle or bringing a razor blade in the store with you wouldnt solve.. Store employees gotta up the security and actually do there job and if they wont, you guys gotta smarten up too this stuff and start buying online or start having friends on here buy them for you and keep an eye out for you. I said it before and ill say it again. If ppl want something, they gonna get it. Packaging is not gonna make a difference. Im actually surprised how many ppl STILL think packaging is going too make a difference in issues like this lol Think it thru ppl. Look at the length's ppl are going thru too get these belts standing in the middle of the store ripping them open too steal the accessories or figure. Why wouldnt ppl stand in the aisle doing the same thing but with a knife or razor blade. It makes the same amount of noise as ripping the package like that. Its not gonna matter. its ashame it happens but if ppl dont like it, and are fed up.. start doing other things too get your figs. If you want them, you want them! Nice pick ups man. I Pm'ed ya about our deal too.. Ill still take that Eddie regardless, you prob already read it and know tho so hit me back this week let me know and ill let ya know when Eddie arrives. Should be here tomorrwo for sure

^^ when Marvel Legend's were in blister packs i never saw any of them sliced open, not saying someone wouldn't go to the hardware aisle and razor them, but thats way less likely then them ripping some cardboard and grabbing a belt in 10 seconds.
you can never stop theft all together, but its all about making it harder on them, and a blister pack would do just that.

I've never noticed any figures around here tampered with BUT WWE figures. I thought that it was because they were what I was focusing on, so I began to be more observant of other lines. I really haven't found anything else tampered with except for something here & there. Then again, I haven't seen tampering with WWE figures anywhere near as bad as some of the photos posted on here.

I've dealt with a lot of lazy employees in my 15 years of collecting. I remember being lied to about them having stuff in stock, not even taking a look in the back or just flat out telling me they don't have something before I can finish my sentence. I usually get the "if it isn't on the shelf we don't have it" response. So now of days I usually don't even bother to ask because I figure what is the point?
However, last week I was in Sears and found Elite 11. They only had Cena and Barrett left. I already have Cena, Christian and Rey so I picked up Barrett. I still need Punk and The Miz. Well the following day I checked Sears once again to see if they got another shipment in, well they didn't however the girl working in the toy section asked me if I needed any help, I was hesitant at first because usually employee's just say they don't have it but I figured what the hell I'll ask anyway. So I showed her the Cena and said I'm looking for the CM Punk in this set and for 20 or so minutes she spent looking to see if they had it in the computer, had it in the back, and was asking questions if I collect them, if I open them and how they look really cool. Well finally, no luck finding anything so I just thanked her for looking and then as I was about to walk away she said give me your number and I'll keep a look out to see if we get them in.
So while there are some employees who aren't helpful at all every once and awhile you will get an employee that goes above and beyond.

I saw that exact same thing at one of the Walmart's here. Three of the packages had the sides ripped open and the title belts/JoMo's shirt were gone. When I told one of the Walmart employees all she said was "of course it happens all the time" and didn't do a damn thing about it.

Na it wouldnt haha believe me.. i had a buddy who collected Marvel Legends back when we were 18-19 years old.. turns out he would go too stores and just load up his bag and walk out.. stores that he couldnt do that at, like walmart, he just came prepared with his own knife or razor blade.. took him 10 seconds tops too slice into the package one time and it was so silent and Bam he made off with whatever he wanted.. All blister packs are gonna do is make thieves more prepared, and arm the thieves with a weapon so incase someone tries stopping them its gonna make the problem worse and more dangerous. they are gonna start bringing there own knives or razors too the stores. Trust me, only thing thats gonna prevent this is if the stores actually loose money on these toys and realize it and start doing there job and watching for the thieves. Most prob aint ever gonna care though cause there just that, toys! Best thing too do, as i said in other threads is find some good honest ppl online that care enough too help others out like myself, who will keep an eye out in stores for you for cheap figs or else start paying online prices for figs which some really aint that bad ($27 or less considering a Fig MOC costs $16.96 after tax's and it costs $10.95 too ship medium flat rate.) Its really not that expensive if you love something enough and wanna collect it or own it and not have too deal with crap like that. Its rare ya even run into this stuff alot like i said in my area i never see ppl doing this stuff anymore, but for those ppl who happen too see it everytime they go too a store, its prob better too figure out other options even if ya dont want too if the stores are not gonna do there jobs, and you love collecting these figs that much. I buy all my stuff online mainly cause i dont wanna deal with this stuff and it assures i get the fig and i dont have too spend the $30 in gas too drive 2 hours too be let down so that $10 extra shippin on a MOC figure is well worth it and saving me money actually Oh! Its not just Wrestling figure collectors who are cheap thieves, its anything. DVD's, Video games, Clothes, etc. There just happens too more stock of those other things named and thats why its not such a big deal too collectors like us. When it comes too Figs, there are only so many of a certain guy in a case and stores only get a couple cases so it really screws us over. No matter what, this is always going too happen. Prob even more now that prices for these figs are going between $30-$100. Ppl see that and there gonna steal it just too sell it online too make a profit. Thats the only reason i buy online. I do get some in retail when i run into them in my area but were always so far behind its better too order online cause i get my figs 4-6 months before our K Mart or Walmart does

a Fig MOC costs $16.96 after tax's and it costs $10.95 too ship medium flat rate You're ripping people off if your using that method to ship a MOC figure. You can just grab a regular priority box (the same one's RSC uses) and ship a MOC figure for around $6.
