If you want to stop piracy, bring down prices. pirates will always be 2 steps ahead, they will find other ways.

Pirating something because you think it's overpriced is the same as stealing a car because you think it's overpriced.

Unbelievable. The government has no right to do this. They've gone completely overboard with censorship and bullcraplike this.

Anybody put their name in? I just did, even though I sent my own message to my Congressman earlier. He never can get too many emails about voting against this bullsh*t, not that I really expect him to listen (he voted to extend the Patriot Act ). I can only hope that all Congressmen and women get flooded with emails in the very near future...

Pirating something because you think it's overpriced is the same as stealing a car because you think it's overpriced. Bring stuff to reasonable prices and people wouldnt feel the need to steal. Not saying its right I'm just stating the justification behind how most people feel. The prices for movies is ridiculous.

If you pirate them studios feel the need to raise prices to account for lost sales.

Then don't buy them. If no one buys them the price goes down as well. If you pirate them studios feel the need to raise prices to account for lost sales. I dont think not buying them without pirating will bring the prices down either. Buying digital music over CDs brought CD prices down. It's simple business of supply and demand. You don't price things people don't want at higher prices, that just doesn't make sense. If you quit buying things and the company notices something that should sell isn't, then they usually lower prices to get more to sell. At the same point the average album on iTunes is $10, pretty cheap for someone's work. There's always spotify, there's ads but you can listen to almost anything you want. I will say, in the area of music, they did this to themselves where it's turning people/pirates vs labels. They refused to adapt with technology and it's biting them in the ass. I don't suggest hurting the artist, hurt the company who thinks nothing of the customer or the acts they tout. There's a reason I support indie labels, they give me a product I care for and don't overvalue it.

I dont think not buying them without pirating will bring the prices down either. So not buying won't make them bring their prices down, but stealing will? Neither will but stealing you can at least get said product. Im not defending either case, I dont care to but sometimes you have to look at thing realistically. When we took alcohol away from everyone people still found illegal means of drinking. Its similar in a lot of ways. They know $35 is redic for a blu ray but they still stick that price tag out there. Where as video games are only twice the price and provide 10x the product, thats reasonable and a reason it isnt as highly pirated. Plus games are most likely going down in price in the near future. Its the reason free entertainment like youtube has become so big. No one has the money and people are tired of it. On top of that illegal music has gone down a lot as far as I know thanks to 99 cent songs instead of buying a full album for one song at $15 or more. Movie industry should look into a way to make there product cheaper.

People torrent software which is just as complex but not really games...Its the price. Its fair. People torrent PC games ALL the time. Just check your favorite torrent site. You can find a torrent of any PC game out there and they're much cheaper than console games but people torrent them anyway.
