In Your House: it’s time.
Main event was pretty substandard in my book and the Armageddon match was the pits. But really enjoyed the IC match between Hunter and Mero.

There’s 2 perspectives I try to look at that night from. 1st) Had they known the day before, Owen Hart will die during the PPV, and then decided, ok we knew what would happen and still said, we need to continue the show. That to me is far worse, This is how I think a lot of people see this PPV from the perspective from. We know Owen dies, and yet they still had the show go on. Had they known that going in, and still said, meh…show must go on, to me that’s discounting life and FAR worse. The 2nd) Everything happening in real time. Nobody knew Owen would die that night, I question how long it was until they even knew he was dead. I think in that moment, they were on cruise control and the show was kinda, just still going on autopilot. I really don’t think they continued the show consciously to insult Owen or the fans. At THAT TIME, I can honestly see the fans booing the cancelation of the show due to Owens death, wrestling fans were SAVAGE in the 90’s. But anyway, I can put myself in their shoes to an extent and see how all of this unexpectedly playing out in real time just didn’t allow for them to handle it correctly. They would have had to refund everyone for PPV buys as well as the folks in attendance. IDK, it was a rough situation and I think it was a lot harder of a decision than just, ok stop the show. Honestly, by the time they discussed all the pros and cons, the show would probably be over. As long as everybody was willing to still go out and perform, I think the best thing to do that night was just proceed as normal and handle it going forward, instead of going from 1 problem to 6, which they would have had had they canceled. Morally, it looks messed up but with all the crap WWF was about to face for that night I highly doubt it was a priority of theirs to deal with any more haha. I remember reading an interview with Harley Race that put a different perspective on it. Basically, what he said was that for the WWF to cancel a PPV, it would need to be something serious. And by doing that would convey the message that Owen was dead. At that point, his next of kin, family and friends hadn’t been notified. I agree with that to an extent, but the fact that they announced it on air later in the show, should have been the end of it. I think when it initially happened the WWF were in a bind. Why would they stop the show for a bad “injury” to Owen, but not for when, say, Austin broke his neck, or other serious injuries. A difficult call to make, And I can only imagine what it must have been like for those that had to perform after the event. However the “Owen would have wanted it” line is pretty damn poor. I think the “he would have wanted it” line is always a crappy thing to say that has the best intentions, but 0 perspective. Had Bret died during the PPV, would Owen have wanted it to continue? Of course not. It’s easy to say that about yourself, if I die, the show must go on…yea, it’s you that’s dead haha. but nobody else was in Owen shoes. Nobody would say “yea continue the show if a coworker dies”. I can’t imagine that. The Harley stance is very true, I know they were notified before Ross’s tv announcement via various Hart family shoots, but the fans in attendance did not know probably until they watched the news that night or read the paper the next morning. Gotta remember, very very little internet/cell phones in those days and there weren’t 50 dirt sheet websites like today haha. So info MOST LIKELY of Owens passing did not make it to that arena. Also, whenever this conversation comes up I always wanna reaffirm my stance. I think most situations have a good and a bad decision to be made. I think this night only presented different kinds of bad decisions. WWF was either gonna give Owen/ the boys the bad end of the stick (and Owen got that anyway) or the fans were. Somebody was getting the bad end of the stick one way or the other and EVEN IF you think the WWF made the wrong decision, people should at least understand that there was no GOOD decision to be made here. I personally can not hate the WWF for the decision they made that night, although I think people can certainly hate them for the accident, handling the situation was a lose lose scenario. And much tougher a decision than just a moral one. I could have thought on that decision all week and still made the wrong one, I can’t fault them for how they reacted on the fly. It’s an impossible scenario. Throw in the mix that they just lost a friend…Vince being a business man, he just started to turn his business around, this wasn’t gonna be a big day for the WWF, I would have frozen.

Anyways, testing out my copy of KOTR 2001. Watched a plug for their next event Fully Loaded and took me a minute to realize why that sounded weird.

Not really a classic... but:
Mr. Wonderful vs Lucious Brown (aka Virgil), never knew Virgil worked for the WWF before pairing with Ted DiBiase as his bodyguard.

Yeah, he did both of those things during his long feud with Hogan. It's funny that during the matches with Hogan, Paul would come out to "Real American" and a few minutes later Hogan would too. That was a great heel move.

Dug out the 7-19-92 episode of Challenge from my collection. The official announcement of Savage/Warrior at SSlam. Bobby going off on Flair being left out is gold.
It certainly wasnt fair to Flair!

Heenan was the best. He had a complete tantrum! Great stuff! I loved when Mr. Perfect would have to cover is mouth because Heenan/Flair were making him break character with how over the top they were!

Diesel vs Bret Hart - Royal Rumble ‘95 - I don’t think anybody brought out the best in Big Kev like Bret. As for this match, it was good at times, but had the crap finish because it was way too early for either guy to go over the other.

I got my RSC Wrestlemania XII Ultimate Warrior, so I rewatched Warrior vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley from that show and other highlights of his 1996 run. Hunter got the Rob Conway pop. I was so excited when he came back but it turned out to be another New Generation flop.
