Watched all of WM8 this morning. Man what could have been. In paper had the potential to be an all timer but we got what we got. Dead loss aside from Hart vs Piper Still think it's a great show and Savage ensured a top title match, but they really *had* to get Hogan vs Flair as the big showdown.
The tag match is crap, but they just kept putting the Disasters either as challenger or champion all year long. It's bizarre that LOD just turn up for an (overly long) interview having dropped the belts in an untelevised match just before. Why not do the switch at WM8 with LOD vs Money Inc.?

I thought Hawk got suspended for steroids. Since this was during the time the federal government was looking at Vince and the WWF, he couldn't take the risk of not suspending him immediately. Also, for kayfabe purposes, maybe they didn't want the LOD losing to be taped/shown to the WWF audience, perhaps to keep them looking strong.

Hawk was always going to be a problem one way or the other for the company, whether it was the roids or his other addictions, so I don't blame them for taking the titles off them in 1992. It's just a shame we never got a good match out of the situation.

It's a solid show, but I also think if everything had been per usual as far as injuries, suspensions, contracts, etc. We might have gotten an all timer on paper Hogan vs Flair (w/ the Warrior return) Savage vs Jake (steel cage or loser leaves town match?) Sid vs Taker LOD vs Money Inc Bret vs Piper Shawn vs Marty

Dibiase was hurting and was put in the team to ease up his injuries but Vince still wanted him high profile in this unsteady time. The finish was Hawk to get bopped with the briefcase when Money Inc were all but beat. Think that's what happened on the untelevised match too. Animal talks about how pissed he was with Hawk over it all in his book which was a great read.

If those plans had gone thru, I wonder if that would have negated the need for a Natural Disasters face turn and title run? I would assume so, since I think further plans had called for LOD to regain the tag titles at SummerSlam. We still got the match but obviously no titles involved.

That would have also worked as an excuse for bringing Ellering on board, as they could've said after falling victim to a cheap shot that they were making sure that would never happen again by having the insurance policy of Ellering prowling around at ringside.
As it was, Ellering turning up in that WM8 interview didn't really seem to have any logical narrative, just "the runaway train's got a driver now" etc. No wonder the crowd was rather bemused.
