Does anyone else feel sick after they throw out a ton of money on wrestling figures?
I'm not saying going out and spending your rent money or car payment on wrestling figures, I just mean extra cash.
Sure, we're collectors and we splurge every once in a while on a major haul, but tell me, have you even spent just a BIT too much for your liking and felt sick afterwards? An hour, a day, a couple days later?
I did today lol. I mean, I had the cash, I wanted the figures and I got them. No repercussions, just spent it. But after looking at the money I put down, I was like, man, did I really spend that much? I laughed and then felt sick a bit.
I've done this on computer upgrades too. I recently put down close to $800 to "future proof" my PC for the next 6-7 years. Nearly passed out after placing the order. But I guess it may stem from me not thinking that I deserve to treat myself every once in a while. Or maybe I know that money could be used for a vacation somewhere down the line. Or maybe, it was because I had it EXTREMELY rough in my childhood to where we had to penny pinch our butts off to make ends meet. I don't know.
Anyone else ever feel that way?

I feel guilty, but never physically ill. Well, thats pretty much what I meant. Guess I didn't know the words to use until now! But, I digress, I'm too lazy to edit my post D:

Every year I go into a phase for a couple months where I spend a lot of money, not just on a few figures, but I have to go to Ralphs to complete the figure or I have to buy doubles of figures just to make fixups on other figures. After I get my fix I'm usually good for a couple months, but I probably spend over 500 during that phase... yeah it drives me crazy some times, but I gotta do what I got to do

You get into a slump where after a while you feel crappy about spending the money on them. I will find myself buying multiples of the same figure just to collect one loose and one moc or to have one for a fixup and the prices are ridiculous now days so you end up spending double the money just to be satisfied. And with Ralph's you find things tha top the figure off and you end up spending $30 to $45 in the end on completing one figure if you are a perfectionist. It definitely gives me that guilty or negative feeling after a while like, man I definitely shouldn't have spent that much on one figure but you can't help but do it as a passionate collector. It sucks at times.

I dont think I ever felt sick, but I have looked at some figures in my collection and wonder "Why did I ever buy this?". That is where ebay and Classy Fieds come in.

I never felt sick, but I would feel regret sometimes. Now I only get an Elite fig of the wrestlers I like. I've saved lots of money that way.

It comes with the territory so I only do it every now and then than how I use to.( sometimes I wish RSC was like sideshow with their preordering process.)

Sometimes I do because my family penny pinches as it is and when I dish out $100 in a month for wrestling figs it kinda hits you in the gut.

I know where your coming from completely. I end up with a couple hundred bucks each month of extra spending cash after my bills and taking care of my dog and things i need so then i decide too order some new figs online and end up spending it all with in a matter of seconds. It makes me excited too know i have new figs coming and such, and when they come its pretty awesome for the day or 2 it lasts but after that, i just realize im spending all my extra cash on this plastic that just ends up sitting around on my desks or my shelves for month after months of time. For some reason, i just cant kick the habit though lol stuff is like heroin ya know ha when your a huge WWE fan and these awesome figures drop for pre order i cant help but want all the legends and new ones i dont have in my collection, its really hard too pass on, cause even when im waiting for those pre orders too ship a good 2 months from the time i place my order, all i can think about is how awesome these figs look and how sweet its going to be adding them too my collection and how the collection is going too look with them in it. I do suffer alot buying them though. As i said i spend any extra cash i got on the figs then for the rest of the month i sit home and never go out, never go shopping, never can go visit anyone, never can do nothing. I mean, i guess its at least a good thing my bills get paid and my dog and I are taken care of and eating and laundry is getting done and gas in the car incase of emergency, but It gets soooooooooo depressing sitting home month after month not hearing from anyone or going out too see any life. I look at it as at least i have something semi cool too show for the money unlike spending it on vacation that lasts 3 days and costs so much more, or going too see a show or concert for a couple hours, or buying beer or drugs etc. At least you see some money you invested into something you love sitting around on the shelves, but there has come a point recently where i said enough is enough. I just cant be spending everything on figures all the time, there has too be a point where i can stop and just start too save money finally. It dont make me sick, as much as it does depressed and a little angry at myself that i know i could be saving this money and should be, when im out spending it on freakin toys all the time. I declared that January, i wanna buy Andre and i wanna buy the Bossman and after those 2 really, im not going too be jumping on all these pre orders as much unless its someone really really big that i want (i.e Yokozuna, Earthquake, Giant Gonzalez etc). I already have most everyone i want now, so if i can cut it down too just buying 1 new figure a month, maybe 2 tops, and start saving the rest for summer or next years black friday and get myself something worth it like a new TV or laptop or clothes or a car etc than im going too do that
NOTE: Good Topic btw!! At least i know i dont feel alone feeling like crap buying these things all the time. I love collecting them like i said, but in the end, there just plastic sitting around. Im too old too be playing with them. There very awesome looking figs, and make a very sweet WWE Fan display piece in your living room and or bedroom, but there only plastic toys and not worth someone my age blowing all his extra spendings on when i should be saving up for emergency's or other stuff.

As much as I wanna cut back or try and kick the habit its tough. I think my new yrs resolution will be to spend less on figures. Only ones on my list are Andre, DDP and RSE Bret.

haha it really is tough Hulk. I just feel if i quit now, altogether, then im going too have a half assed empty collection (even though i got like 60 figs altogether and 3 ring playsets) i know all these other guys will be made and i just wont have them in the collection and ill feel that all this years time worth of collecting them and money spent was just a waste then. It worries me too cut down too cause if a new series would drop next year with like 6 brand new guys i need and i only pick up 2 each month, im gonna start falling waaaay behind then prices may jack up too $40-$50 and cost me even more then it wouldda too just pre order them in the first place lol you really cant win and thats what is the hardest for me. I just started college last week. First time back too school in 10 years and i am hoping too get my Financial Aid left overs back by Jan- Feb 2012 the latest and i guess if that happened, and it was a couple too few thousand, that would really help alot. Then i could spend my monthly cash on figs still and bills and i would have some cash too actually save up in the bank and feel better about what im doing, but honestly, spending all my money on figs is really no different then spending all my money on drugs or booze besides the fact ya have something too show for it that is legal and i love ya know. lol its funny when ya think of it that way, that these things really are like the plastic substitute for Crack, money wise lol You spend all your extra cash on them and always want more lol

I do a lot of impulse buying... so I've learned recently to hold on to all of my receipts.
I don't feel guilty at all.
Although yesterday I bought one of those TLC playsets for no good reason. I have no room for it so it's pretty pointless. I really wanted that shiny belt. lol.

I do at times. I bought 11 figures online just recently at around $450 and thought after confirming the order that it was a bit much. At the same time though, I don't go out make lots of little purchases, just one big one every now and then so it sort of balances itself out. All the guilt goes away and turns to happiness when they arrive though

More often I ponder what some of you guys do for a living. I don't necessarily think anyone is wasting money, but when I see the huge hauls it gets me wondering about things.
I very easily regret making purchases. My Mattel collection is really small (mainly Legends and about 5 modern stars). I've gotten some great deals on the items in my collection, as I've acquired many through trades, or offset the costs by selling off any accessories of theirs I didn't need. Even then, it's rough. I'm simply the type of guy who enjoys collecting certain things, but only a few items give me that "I'm happy to have this" feeling when I lay down the cash.
UFC Round 5 figures, and most Mattel Legends are probably the only thing I buy and almost never regret. Even the ones that I have minimal interest in when buying, I end up loving them once they're in the collection.
