I never saw Shawn as the best worker in the 90's. He was a great worker but not the end all be all. The real talent was in Japan at the time, with Guys Like Keiji Mutoh ( The Great Muta) and Mitsuharu Misawa running circles around him. As for the home front Sting was a better all around worker then him and those who worked with both of them will say the same thing.

I dunno about Sting being a better worker than Michaels man......
Im a Sting fan but I dont think he was a better in ring performer than HBK.

I dunno about Sting being a better worker than Michaels man...... Im a Sting fan but I dont think he was a better in ring performer than HBK. HBK was all flash and had his share of problems especially with Workers who refused to work his style. Sting adapted to any style. Just go look at any Vader shoot. Michaels could never work a stiff style match, He hated to get hit while Sting took whatever he was working with and made the match work. There is more to Pro Wrestling then jumping off ropes, Hipups and Superkicks.  |

I gotta disagree about Sting also. He was a good worker, but I feel there are many better. I don't disagree about Misawa, he is probabably the best ever. That Hogan/Michaels clip is hilarious though.

HBK did oversell at times, but it never bothered me. For one thing, a lot of guys would oversell for comedy in the 80s when Michaels was learning his craft (Flair and Valentine both did versions of the Flop, Jake Roberts and Paul Orndorff used to do a pretty ridiculous looking head-over-heels bump resembling a sheet of plywood flipping end over end, etc.).
Beyond comedy, remember Michaels also came up during Ricky Morton's heyday where a smallish wrestler was often judged by how well he could sell an ass-kicking, almost more so than dishing one out. And once Michaels neared the end of his Rockers days/start of his singles era, Curt Hennig had become a prototype for wrestlers of Michaels' style and build ... and overselling was a regular thing with Hennig, too. Mr. Perfect took some bumps from Hulk Hogan clotheslines that would make an Olympic gymnast proud.
