AC/DC They've proven you don't need to follow any trends to keep going, they're still doing the music they started doing from day one. No remix albums, no collaborations with Rihanna, no political driven songs, just pure rock n roll from start to finish. They provide the absolute best stage show ever seen, from crashing a train, ringing a two tonne bell, firing two, four, six, twelve and even twenty one cannons, and more. Even with all the bandmembers in their 50s and 60s, they'll still put on a better show than bands half their age, guaranteed. Needless to say, my love for AC/DC is irreplaceable

Led Zeppelin. Just love their music. Page is one of the best guitarists ever, John Bonham was a great powerhouse drummer, and plants whaling cries worked in perfect harmony with Page's guitar and then the incredibly versatile John Paul Jones playing many instruments for the band.

Rise Against
Why, I just love the music they put out. They were the first punk band I every really listened to, now I'm a massive punk fan and have adopted the punk lifestyle over the last few years. They can make great songs; soft and hard, bordering generic rock, and bordering screamo. Just an alround great band IMO.

Who? Creed.
Why? I love their sound. I love a lot of the lyrics in most of the songs. I think it's inspiring what Stapp went through and came out the better for. And, at the time of me really forming my own opinion growing up, they were the biggest band around.

Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl is just jesus. Pat Smear is Pat Smear. 'nuff said. Taylor MOTHER IN' HAWKINS! Not just one or two good songs per album, but every single song they put out is nothing short of great. Also, Dave Grohl can take those songs and make them a million times better when he plays them acoustic.

Arcade Fire, I always put it how my mom defines them: They're Springsteen for a new generation. The song writing, the instrumentation, the live show. They aren't acting like mega rock stars, they can headline festivals, Madison Square Garden, and still just go wander around people and not care. They've made it about their music and the people that love it. It's the passion for it that gets them for me. You can tell when a band goes on stage, throws their all into it, and does it because they know they owe it to people who paid to see them. Their music has only gotten better with every album.
Seriously, this is one of the best live songs ever.

fun.
Their music is what their name implies. They take elements of classic rock bands I love, from the operatic (Queen) to the ballad (Billy Joel) to the Disney Musical sounding (Elton John), they blend it into a brilliant indie-pop-rock formula fueled by energy, originality and profound lyrics. Frontman Nate Ruess has one hell of a voice, powerful but chock full of emotion. They put on a great live show, and are just at the infancy of how great they will become once they mature as a trio, and release more albums.

Now - Editors. Perfect mix of synthesizers and instruments. Tom Smith makes up for his generic name by having a hauntingly beautiful voice and the lyrics to apply it to. Everything means something (but meaning is open to interpretation, as he creates ambiguous lyrics so the listener can draw their own conclusions), and they perfectly walk the line between depressing and inspirational. They also have just enough English grit that they can cater to the old punk crowd. I have always said that Wade Barrett should have an Editors song for his entrance.
Ever - Rush. Because they are amazing, I have yet to experience anything that can touch them musically. Geddys voice is iconic, Alex is the number one most underrated guitar player, what he can still do in his late 50s is incredible, and the same goes for Geddys bass playing. Amazing. And Neil....oh Neil. Neil Neil Neil. What can I say about Neil Peart. He's is like a much more talented version of myself. An intellectual in the non-pretentious manner. He takes geeky ideas and makes beautiful lyrics. Literature, fantasy, urban sprawl, ethereal topics. Its all beautiful. Then, there's his drumming. Oh......My......God. they aren't for everybody, but they damn sure are perfect for me.
Honorable mention: Genesis Matthew Good Band The Killers Jethro Tull
All right at the top of the list.

Thirty Seconds to Mars
I am a musician and I love alot of bands, but overall these guys strike a particular chord with me. I like that their music is dramatic and ambient yet they still have good hooks and a catchiness to their sound. They have three albums out and all three of them sound completely different, which I like. I don't like when a band just picks a certain sound or style and makes a bunch of albums that sound the same. I also really am a fan of Jared Leto's vocal style. He sings melodically, but also has a really underrated, awesome range and can actually hit notes. Most of my favorite bands are a little older like Iron Maiden, U2, Motley Crue, but 30STM has a mix of classic band qualities with a modern edge that I just love.

Foo Fighters are and always will be my all-time favorite band. To me, they define Rock. The band consists of all professionals who do everything the old-fashioned way. They release nothing but high quality music, and their diversity brings all different types of sounds. A bad song does not exist in their library. I don't just listen to their music, I fall into it.
I've been a fan since the start. I was five when the band formed so I grew up with them. I remember having the debut album on casette and listening to it on my tape player. I've gotten every album since then and I love each one in a special way because they're all a part of different stages of my life.

I'll be the second person to say Alter Bridge. Four awesome musicians, hard riffs, amazing melodies and thoughtful lyrics.
Foo Fighters are a close second. They are almost incapable of making an uncatchy song, and they manage to maintain a sound that is only theirs, while all their songs are still very diverse.
Both amazing bands.

Marianas Trench.
^This is a pretty damn good reason. This song is definitely a masterpiece. One of the coolest damn things about this song is how it incorporates the entire album. Every song in the album is re-done (in a slightly different manner) for a couple or so lines and it blends so perfectly. Not only that, but they even manage to sneak in one of their songs from their first album.
Even without that song, they'd still be my favorite. I just love these guys.

Queensrÿche.
In my opinion, one of the best bands to come out of the 80s. They were "thinking man's metal," their own special brand of progressive metal that was socially aware. They may not have had as much staying power as some of their contemporaries, but they were a big deal in their prime. Geoff Tate is an amazing, distinctive vocalist with a range spanning several octaves. Their songwriting was solid and meaningful, discussing matters such as class conflict, religion, and poverty without being "preachy." Most know them by the popular 90s power ballad "Silent Lucidity," although that's not their best song by far:
Their music really speaks to me -- it's helped me through some hard times and they've entertained me for years. I've gotten a number of people into them, including my own mother (!!!).
You all should check them out -- Operation: Mindcrime, Empire, Promised Land, and Rage For Order. Everything else, eh. (Haha, every band has a lull period.)

Mine is, without question, Type O Negative.
The music is just the right amount of heavy, romance, humor and relatability. They helped me through difficult times in my life, and I'll never forget that.
I also have the logo tattooed on my back.
