Just thought this would be a fun thread, what band do you like better than any other band? I have a whole heap of favorite bands, but none will beat Iron Maiden for me.
I like them because Bruce Dickinson's voice no matter what will always be my favorite voice in metal/rock history. His voice works well whether he's screaming, clean singing, long note holds or what ever and then being a bass player it's nice to see someone like Steve Harris being the main man. He writes most of their music and his playing style is amazing. He must have so much stamina to be able to do a whole gig with finger blistering songs like 2 Minutes To Midnight and Run To The Hills. Then the guitar riffs and solos, I just love nearly everything they do and can't forget the man with the kit, Nicko is a crazy talented drummer, he hardly even needs his second foot pedal. Also can't leave out the fact that even with their aging, they still put on amazing shows and record fantastic music.
Now let's just keep this argument free, don't attack others for their opinions. If you haven't got something nice to say, don't say it at all.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
My favorite band is known to most as a one hit wonder - and that's ok with me. This band does more for its fans than any band I've had the pleasure of enjoying. Dicky Barrett has a real poetic way with words, and has crafted some amazing lyrics woven in perfectly by an eclectic and energetic band. Imagine my heartbreak when they announced their hiatus in 2003 (I was at their last show to date the night before my high school graduation). Imagine my elation when they announced their return in '07. Tickets to their return sold out in minutes. I was crushed. At the zero hour, they were releasing tickets to compensate for guest list spots that went unfilled. I stood in the cold, and waited four hours to get my hands on one. I got in. Since then, I've been fortunate to see them at least once a year, and have been graced with two albums worth of new material. Every show I see of theirs is the best show they've played. They're back in a way like there's no tomorrow. Their music, to quote one of their songs, has helped me "tough it through a very checkered past".
Look into 'em. It's amazing what a "one hit wonder" has riding behind that one song.

Red Hot Chili Peppers
RHCP is my favorite band, because I always thought that they had the greatest instrumental line-up (w/Frusciante Line-up). Flea is the greatest bassist of all-time, and John Frusciante is probably the best guitarist of this generation. Also, Chad Smith's a very underrated drummer, and I always loved Anthony Kiedis' voice. Plus, all of their albums have a different sound or genre to it. Even without Frusciante they're great with the likes of Hillel Slovak, Dave Navarro, and Josh Klinghoffer being their guitarists at or point or another.

my morning jacket
i love the music that they continue to make and their live shows are killer. their studio music is awesome but its a completely different beast in the live setting. i discovered them last year in about june or july and saw them for the 1st time in august just outside of rochester. since then ive seen them 5 more times, 2x in NYC, 1 show in Toronto, 1 show in Denver and the other in Pittsburgh. and every show of theirs has been absolutely ridiculous, just the sheer energy and jamminess that they bring to a live setting (1 song in particular exceeding 20 mintues in length at more than 1 show) awesome and sometimes obscure covers (ive seen them cover bob dylan, the velvet underground, lionel richie, the band, gil scott-heron/brian jackson, dolly parton & kenny rodgers). ive never traveled so much for a band before, but along the way ive met some of the nicest people ive ever met and have seen the best concerts ive ever seen all because of this band.

Rush
I wasn't always a HUGE Rush Megafan like I am now. In fact prior to 2005 I had only really heard of like... Tom Sawyer and Spirit of Radio. Then one of my friends asked me if I wanted to go see Rush live and I said sure. It was my first concert I had ever been to and absolutely one of the best to this day. The musicianship from them is quite phenomonal. After that I had to listen to as much Rush as I possibly could. Now I am the biggest Rush fan out of all my friends owning a very large chunk of their CD's and such. I'd be hardpressed to pick a single favorite song of mine but some of my favorites are 2112, Fly By Night, Distant Early Warning, All of Moving Pictures, New World Man, Half The World... the list is literally endless.

Alter Bridge
The combination of the band members from Creed and Myles Kennedy, who has an amazing voice makes something really special in Alter Bridge.
Really deep lyrics (They have a few songs that helped me cope with the deaths of my grandparents) fantastic music (the melodies on Ghosts of Days Gone By are epic), and the guys put on AMAZING shows live. Saw them twice in 2011.
Hands down, no comparison for me, my favorite of all time.

New Found Glory
I've loved pop-punk for as long as I can remember, and I've always been drawn to NFG. I love the hooks, the attitude of the band, and the fact that they're able to make passionate, thoughtful songs that are relatively simple and incredibly relatable. They've been my favorite band for nearly a decade, and I've done just about all I can do with them. I'm seen them six times, met them, sung into the mic with Jordan, been front row center against the barricade three times. There are few places in the world that I feel better at than in the front of a New Found Glory show, screaming my lungs out.
The Wonder Years are also quickly approaching a top spot. Brutally honest writing, incredible storytelling, and I can identify with nearly every word Soupy writes. They've created my favorite record two years in a row, both of which have had a positive impact on me that I can't even explain.

Bright Eyes. I first heard them when music, to an impressionable teenager like me at the time, was pretty much a fad. Although I probably didn't realise it at the time, I listened to stuff to fit in with certain subcultures, styles etc. Then browsing myspace for recommendations I came across Bright Eyes (it was 2005 and Digital Ash In a Digital Urn had just been released). They were unlike anything I had heard prior, and totally shifted my perception of what music was truly capable of. After that, I got a hold of literally everything they released and swiftly fell in love. No band will ever come close to how bright eyes make me feel/think and they were pretty much the band to give me a musical 'identity'. Conor Oberst in my eyes is unmatched as a lyricist. Only other artist that could have come close for me (had he lived to make more material) is Jeff Buckley. Grace is definitely my favourite album of all time, I think every song on it is just so ON in the way of melody and sound, not to mention his voice is ing perfect.

Senses Fail
I got into them Sophmore year through my cousin. I could relate to a lot of Buddy's lyrics and absolutely love their sound. Though I know longer drink and am no longer lost in this world, anytime I listen to them it takes me back to the old days. Though somethings weren't that great, I had some of the best friendships of my life. Reminds me too that you can always rise from the bottom.

Nirvana I love Kurt Cobain`s lyrics I feel I can relate with some of them. The medleys of the songs like Come As You Are, All Apologies, Blew just to name a few. Cobain`s scream is like no other IMO. When I hear there songs I feel something for instance when I'm mad I can turn on Teen Spirit and let that anger out just by listing. And I stared playing music because of them I love Krist Novoselic bass lines so I stared playing the bass. Here is one of my favorite performance.

Breaking Benjamin
Probably my all-time favorite rock band. I pretty much have every single song on my mp3. They seem to be very underrated.

Why? Saw them live at Uproar this past summer and they were the best band I've ever seen perform live. Period.

nine inch nails
I'll sum it up as simple as I can, Trent Reznor is a genius. His marketing is superb, He puts out awesome physical material for collectors like myself. He's pretentious. I can relate to a lot of the lyrics, the art he puts out is core shaking. I've YET to be disappointed by anything he's put out. (yes, even Deep)
Wonder Years are my favorite band on a personal level. I love the fact that they're SO down to earth and approachable it's a total opposite from NIN

Matchbox Twenty.
IMO Rob Thomas is unmatched in terms of song writing, he's also a great vocalist and doesn't try to be better than he is, Kyle Cook is one of the best and most under rated guitarists ever and is also an amazing song writer and vocalist, Paul Doucette was an excellent drummer and just as good on the guitar, like Kyle he's a great vocalist and songwriter too, and Pookie is a great bassist, they are as good, if not better live as they are studio recorded, and I have not heard one of their songs whether as the band or solo projects that wasn't awesome.

Its toss up between Alice In Chains before Layne died and Nirvana. AIC with Layne was as real as it gets. I feel the pain when I hear Layne's voice. Nothing but soul that I can always relate to. Same goes for Nirvana. And Kurt changed the world of music in a short amount of time. Huge PJ fan but AIC and Nirvana are just two bands I wouldnt be the same without.

As you can tell by the name...Queen.
Pure musical brilliance, really too much to put into words...just listen...
The voice of Mercury, the guitar of May, the melodies, the harmonies, perfect music in my opinion.

Stereophonics.
Love the band, one of the best British bands of the last decade +. I always love them because they are kinda local. Mainly I just love the music they create, such a good variety. Kelly Jones voice is awesome I think and they are a great live band. Welsh people seem to love everything Welsh but I just love the band because they're simply awesome.
