WZ has learned that a match between CM Punk vs John Laurinaitis is in the future plans of WWE creative.
After speaking with sources it seems that match is expected to happen sometime in February. Laurinaitis being the special guest referee in Punk's WWE title defense at the Royal Rumble is likely to be a significant point in the conflict between the two that leads to a match.
There are some feel that Laurinaitis role as a heel is going well, a pay-per-view match at Elimination Chamber with CM Punk has been brought up. However, others think that on the road to WrestleMania, CM Punk should not be working a match on PPV with someone who is not a wrestler on the WWE roster.
Whenever the match between the two takes place, some sort of stipulation for the winner and loser has been discussed to increase the importance of the bout.

I could see that happening at Elimination Chamber, or some combination of match perhaps handicap or gauntlet. Maybe Brodus Clay. lawls.
Miz had a match with Lawler last year, which is kinda the same thing as this.

I like the idea but honestly everything they do these days seems to have no effect on the ratings, so who knows. They just lost 80,000 viewers during Jerichos return so who the hell knows these days. I'd love for this to turn out as something big though, they need it.

Would be cool. I think they should do it on a RAW. Punk needs to defend his belt in a strong showing at Elimination Chamber so he has momentum leading up to WM.

It'll happen at a ppv, because people will wanna pay to see it so they'll buy the ppv. and if the match is bad and they turn it off, it has no effect on wwe cause they're making money since the person purchased the ppv. if its shown on raw and its bad people can change it and it'll do damage to the ratings

I can see them doing something like Punk vs. Miz (for example) at EC, if Punks wins he gets a match against Johny Ace immediately after.

I heard they are building this feud up to like back in the day where it meant so much when Steve Austin finally stunnered McMahon.
So they will build and build and build hoping that when Punk finally hits Laurinaitis that it actually means something.
It's a nice try....but this feud will never reach the importance of Austin/McMahon....and Laurinaitis is a terrible actor, so I don't think anybody really cares about this "feud" at all.

I would like to see a match. Ace was a wrestler after all.

No there will be no match. This is going to be Punks punch to the 'man' much like Austin's stunner to Mcmahon.

Not going to be much of a "match" you dont have your face champion work a credible match against a heel authority figure, any offense done by Johnny Ace would make Punk look weak.
Take Austin vs McMahon at the St. Valentines Day Massacre, it was Austin squashing him the entire time.

To be honest, I like this idea. The fact that Ace is an actual wrestler means that they can actually have a "legitimate" match (meaning he can take and administer moves". I do, however, think this needs to be held off for a little bit.

I'm not sure why I want to see this? I know Punk and Ace don't like each other but I'm not to the point I want to see Punk knee him in the face. Hopefully they get there soon, maybe at the Rumble. The only thing that could drive that is Ace costing Punk the title, which is kind of exciting IMO. But then when are they going to build Punk vs Jericho? Maybe Jericho wins the Rumble and Punk gets it back at Chamber. Interesting to me because I didn't see them doing this before Mania.

Johnny Ace was a wrestler so a match with Punk couldn't be that bad...McMahon absolutely no wrestling experience when facing Austin.
The other day i watched Johnny Ace vs. Mean Mark (Undertaker) from Capital Combat 90 and it was surprisingly good and Ace is a pretty decent wrestler.

If Ace can still pull out a decent match then I'm all for it (and why not give us a Flashback AJPW figure while were at it ? ) I mean, dude's only 46, same age as Taker and a few years older than HHH.

Please WWE NO. No gimmick matches please. No Shaq vs Big Show either.
Give us Punk vs Cena, Punk vs McMahon, Punk vs Jericho.
Punk will not regain his summer 2011 status by beating up John Laurinaitus and the Miz.

Keep Ace in a suit and let him continue to bring the dry humor that makes Raw 1000x better than it is.
He doesn't even do anything wrong.
