I would have made last week's RAW thread, but I was at the Memphis Airport
RAW rolls into Corpus Christi, Texas for an edition of the flagship with many questions coming out of last week, most of which have to do with the man who shines like no other, whether it be 1999, 2007 or 2012.
It began last week for the WWE, a new year did. With the new year also came the answer to a question that lingered, unless you're WWE commentators; who was behind the "itbegins2012" videos? After weeks of nightmare fuel aired on RAW, proclaiming a return to "take what is his", the mystery man was revealed to be none other than Chris Jericho, who was happier than Eugene ever was to be back. Not since September 27, 2010 had Jericho been seen in a WWE ring, and he made the most of his return by celebrating for minutes on end, and leaving without speaking a word over the microphone. Having not said anything about his RAW return, everyone is curious as to what's going on in Jericho's head a week after his third coming. Will the former World and WWE Champion speak tonight, in the distant future or will he never EEEVER speak uhGAIN?
CM Punk retained the WWE Championship after his match against Dolph Ziggler, though he didn't actually leave with his belt, nor did he win the match. After a persistent EVP of TR and Interim GM of MNR interfered in the Title match, Punk was beaten to the point of being counted out, and Ziggler celebrated his win by stealing the WWE Title that is still Punk's property. After the match, sore elbow and all, John Laurinaitis announced the first Title match for the 25th edition of the Royal Rumble; CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship with Laurinaitis as Guest Referee. Punk was none too pleased, and promised a beating resembling that of the one the Bengals received on Saturday if Ace cost him the Title. With less than three weeks before the Rumble, what awaits Punk, Ziggler and Ace?
John Cena cut a familiar promo to kick off 2012, reiterating that some people love him, some hate him, but that it's all cool because the WWE Universe has earned the right to cheer and boo who they want. Wow, he's so nice! He also ran into a now familiar foe in Kane, saving the wrestling business one quarter hour at a time. After what amounted to a 3-on-1 Handicap match pitting Cena, US Champion Zack Ryder and Big Show against Jack Swaggah, Ryder was nearly dragged to the place where weapons are always convientely left lying, by Kane. A fatigued and injured Ryder was about to be dragged unerneath, until Cena was able to save the guy Eve knows deep down she really likes. Kane returned to the firey depths of "hell" after a large explosion from the ring ended the first RAW of 2012. What is next in this story of one man embracing the hate and encouraging another to do the same, only to be told no?
Elsewhere, decrees of winning the 2012 Royal Rumble are running rampant, the Barrett Barrage continues to build momentum for the NXT Season 1 winner Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger will likely look to continue his quest of winning the United States Championship, Daniel Bryan and Cody Rhodes remain Champions after Friday, the Bellas, Kelly and Eve resumed their legendary battle for RAW Diva tag team dominance with the Bellas picking up a win and if we're lucky, Mark Henry will do guest commentary at some point tonight.
See all that of that and possibly have all of those questions answered live at 9pm/8c, only on USA Network.
