I am considering buying Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum to make comedy sketches and vlogs for the internet. Has anybody here used before? If not, could you tell me what editing software you use? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

That's a little pricey for just making comedy sketches and vlogs. I use Adobe Premiere Pro as part of the Adobe Master Collection. I use it to edit all sorts of videos for customers, for my YouTube channel, and just for messing around. Sony Vegas isn't bad...but make sure you've got a solid computer. People tend to over-estimate their computers and when they try to edit HD videos and it slows down, they giv e up. It takes a lot of RAM and Graphics Memory to edit HD video.

How much is Sony Vegas? I've heard it's expensive, but I haven't heard an exact price.

The pro version is around $1,000 but for what you are doing, get the $50 version, its a really simplistic professional software. Its the bridge between stuff like iMovie and Final Cut/Avid.
Completely worth the price tag at $50 and I have like $1,000 invested in my version lol.

I use Final Cut Pro 7. I've also had a little experience with Avid, but never used Vegas. Final Cut is pretty much an industry standard in both TV and film, so if you have serious career aspirations it's good to get familiar with it. I have a buddy who swears by Vegas though, and from what he tells me the two programs are actually not that different.

I'm studying TV Production in Boston, but for small two minute packages, we use Final Cut Pro. You can get X in the Mac App Store for $300, that is, if you use a Mac. If you have a Windows OS, than I suggest Adobe Premiere Pro. You can get the Video Production Suite of it for about $500 as a student. It comes with After Effects (amazing video effects program), Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. You just have to show proof as a student. Let me know if you have any questions.

I've dabbled with various editing software over the past 9 years or so and Vegas has always been my favorite.
