It's BS, but what does he expect would happen?

It's BS, but what does he expect would happen? He must be a terrorist for refusing the molestation. Hopefully the President doesn't use the NDAA and detain him indefinitely.

This is messed up. Rand is a Senator, he is in public office. He should conduct himself in a way that he leads by example. The example he has set by doing this is to disobey they laws/rules set forth by the government.
I hate air travel, I hate the hassel. I hate being patted down or being xrayed. I hate having to pay for taking bags, geting a boarding pass, getting a drink, getting something to eat. Its just you paying and paying and paying to be frisked like a common criminal. I say this just to clarify that I understand why Rand refused the pat down.
However, he SHOULD have instead gotten the pat down. And then used his office to try and change how people are treated in airports. The proper moves for him would have been paperwork to lobby for a change. Instead he used his position to act out in an immature manor.

EDIT We both also have Hulk in our sigs, so you kinda agree with me on that as well.

Some animals are more equal than others. This was an act of civil disobedience. And no the rules shouldn't apply to any of us. The TSA is a sham.

Well first of all, Rand Paul HAS used his position to try to stop this. A simple search would tell you that he has been the most active member of the Senate in trying to end this ridiculous shit. Secondly, no, I don't think he should have special treatment. I think everyone should be able to not get finger- ed just because they want to get on an airplane.

God, why do I even bother? Your head is so far up your ass you can't even see what I'm talking about or what's going on. You have this view of everything and facts be damned. No one is bitching about it. Paul is standing up for what he believes in. But then I guess you'd say Martin Luther King was bitching for any speeches he gave talking about his arrests or arrests of others for breaking the law.

Luckily I never had to deal with being patted down or going through a full body scanner when I flew this summer.

If the story was that John Smith got detained at the airport because he set off the scanner and refused a pat down, no one would care. Because it's some guy who the Internet loves it's a huge story. He set off the scanner. What does he expect to happen next?

He set off the scanner. What does he expect to happen next? ... Are you ing serious right now? What do you think news is? Of course more people are going to care more about a SENATOR (one who has stood against this procedure in the past mind you) being detained by the TSA than some random person. Do you think it's going to be a bigger deal if Justin Bieber breaks up with his girlfriend than if I get divorced from my wife? How about if Tom Brady beats his wife as opposed to Milincoln beating his wife? "GOOD GOD PEOPLE ONLY CARE BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE ARE FAMOUS. HOW SICKENING." If you haven't comprehended that basic principle of American news by now, then I feel pretty bad for you. It's not like this is some new concept. People care about celebrities and/or high-ranking political figures. Also, again, I ask - where did he say he should have special treatment?

You didn't Kliq. Slappy implied that this is some great miscarriage of justice somehow.

You didn't Kliq. Slappy implied that this is some great miscarriage of justice somehow. It IS a miscarriage of justice. It's a miscarriage of justice every time someone is illegally searched like this. ... And yes, it is illegal. It's against the 4th Amendment, which is part of the Supreme law of the land, the U.S. Constitution.
