Last year I felt like sprucing up my office and came across a deal of a lifetime and ended up purchased my all-time favorite arcade game - WWF Wrestlefest:

Although I am still in love with it, I felt like it was lacking something...and then it popped into my head: wrestling figures! I haven't purchased a single figure since the days of TTL but I have still followed the figure scene from time to time.

My current project is creating a ring and figures that closely resembles the game. This is something that I am going to have to piece together over time (I can't sink all my money into it at once!). Here is the list I have so far - please help me out if you have any ideas or suggestions!

-Jakks Classic Superstar Official Scale Cage Match Wrestlemania 2 Edition Ring (already purchased). I chose this one because it came with the blue cage (like the game) and the blue stairs as well.

-Custom ring skirts: Two sides for WWF Wrestlefest and 2 sides for WWF Superstars. I have been unable to find a clear pic of the Wrestlefest apron but here are the best examples I can find of both:

-Custom ring canvas: I prefer the gray w/old WWF logo and World Wrestling Federation written below it.

-Metal Box: if you watch the video, you will see some action take place outside the ring where the wrestlers use some sort of metal box or case. I thought it would be fun to have something similar to that.

-Referee: I searched all over that one auction website (you know the one!) and I have not been able to find a referee figure that looks even close to this guy. Any suggestions?

-Mike McGuirk: Damn did I hate her! However, if I ever want to consider this collection complete, I will end up needing something that resembles her. She is a cliffnote in WWE history, but important to this project! Again, suggestions would be helpful!

I have this game on my emulator, I played it back in the 90's on holiday it's awesome. The downsides being that Smash / Crush don't have a special move and that you can't play as the legion of doom only against them. I'm not sure of the required figures based on modern figures as I only follow Hasbro's, which would be my recommendation

That's a great point. I think Hasbros are the way to go to complete a WrestleFest collection.

Crush is fairly easy to make. You would need a Smash body with an R3 Kevin Nash head painted.

I agree that he would be really small. In fact, I think it would stand out a bit too much. The same thought had crossed my mind earlier so at least we are on the same wavelength!

Ax and Smash have their own finishers but not a tag finisher. There are tricks to playing as LOD on the emulator and there might be a way to play on the arcade but I have never tried it. It involved getting to the LOD in tag mode and then having a 2nd player join in. I should try that soon just to see what comes of it!

As far as Hasbros go, I have all the figures needed to do this. However, I wanted a new challenge (in collecting) and a good excuse to buy the RSR ring!

See the above comment I made. Also, even though I own the Hasbros, they are 1200 miles away in my Mom's garage and she would never be able to dig them out and ship them to me! I also can't justify buying loose ones. If I wanted to make things simple, I would have gone the Hasbro route but I guess I am just a sucker for punishment!

I cannot do customs...I have never been any good and I would never be satisfied with my own work! Mattel does make some nice looking figures no doubt but many of them do not come close to matching the outfits in the game which is why I will likely end up with a mixture of Jakks and Mattel. What is Ralph's gear?

I might be interested in purchasing customs here, but me doing them is pretty much out of the question...I really am that bad with them!

Great call on the Rocky ref! Although I am not completely sold on the CS Sid head (he seems a little too angry).

Regarding playing as LOD: On the emulator it's max 4 player so your right that joining players would enable this, but you would need 4 people to play with to make it worth while. I don't beleive that doing this would enable them to be picked through the menu's for future games and there's only so much button bashing a man can take even if it is for nostalgia.

That is correct ^^^. There have also been some sprite modding and custom coding done over the years for emulators but that doesn't apply to my game...oh well!

I'm not sure what path I am going to take just yet. As you can see, I have a large list of things to get. I'm thinking about getting a piece or two every month (depending upon what is on Ebay and what is available here). At the very least I would like to see your custom work as I will be in the market through out the year for the items mentioned in the first post.

Bro, I LOVE your idea! However did it ever oocur to you to use hasbro's? Reason I suggest that it because they look more like the characters in the game all stubby and short. Just an idea.
