I'd rather have Shane in camp than Rick if given the choice, honestly. Andrea was correct, most of the stuff Shane says is spot on, its just his presentation. Rick, on the other hand, makes a rational case and is always calm and cool, but his choices often lead to more dangerous situations (i.e. spending a week searching for a dead girl, risking everyones life). If a hoard of walkers invaded my camp, i'd want Shane fighting them off, not Rick. Even Rick's choice of weapons is stupid, a 6 shooter...... In a zombie apocalypse....... Of course, I don't tihnk Shane is making it to the end of the season. I think the show will take a hit, cause they can do so so much with that, dividing the group between shane/rick, but they probably wont do it. I'd love to see 2 split factions living separately, seeing how each tries to live.

Shane is insane, and his actions all have ulterior motives behind them. Honestly, I can't wait for them to kill Shane. I hope it happens the same way as in the comics. And PLEASE get Michonne in this. I was also thinking that the showdown at the bar was the beginning of a Governer story arc. Could be pretty good.I'm ready for Michonne as well. But as soon as they started talking about letting the kid go, and Shane presented the idea of him finding his way back, I immediately thought Governor. If nothing else, the setup for that story.

I can't ever see them killing off Shane. He's such a big part of the show now.

I dunno. They may not but it feels like they are building for a showdown that only ends one way.

Which is agitating. It's like the only thing coming.

Shane is really the only ongoing antagonist in the series. If they move onto someone else, lets say the Governor for instance, then Shane won't be moving on with the group imo. If they pick up the heat on Shane vs Rick, then it will definitely come to a conclusion. I just hope it's done well because it does seem inevitable.

Best episode of the series in my opinion. Not positive, but it seems like this is one of the first times they used pop music. Really really well directed episode. Thought it was awesome

Definitely my favourite episode of Season 2 thus far. I think the end of the season will see Shane killed. I'm loving Andrea this season, her making the point with Beth was great.
One thing I found odd about the episode was Rick cutting his finger to attract the walker, but then stabbing several of them without any sort of thought about infection. Unless I missed something? It was odd.

It was odd. I've never read the comic books, so i'm just speculating, but I've heard other people speculate that they are already infected with a disease. They kind of backed it up last night when they killed the security guards last night and couldnt find bite marks.

Great episode. I too wondered about cutting themselves and then using the knife to stab the zombies. Are they not concerned with zombie blood getting in their wounds? I haven't read the comics either but after seeing the two dead officers, I wonder if this thing is a airborne virus to some degree.

Yeah awesome episode. The fight between Shane and Rick was really intense and I was so into the whole back-and-fourth between the two. Shane whipping the wrench was very "holy crap" imo. I'm not sure why Rick needed to sleep on killing the kid. The second they found out he knew Maggie they should have shot him or left him for dead imo.
But then, that's Rick, who is constantly trying to hold onto some type of moral structure when the world is in total chaos. It's what sets his character apart from Shane's, and is why Shane was alive by the end of the episode. Had the roles been reversed, Shane would have left Rick for dead. Rick's family, is Rick's family, not Shane's, and Shane can't live with that, ever. Shane's constant desire to take over the group from Rick is self indulgent imo. Shane makes decisions based on selfishness, and Rick is empathetic and wants to see everyone survive for as long as possible. That, is why Rick should lead the group imo.
Andrea's character is a spiteful, angry bitch in the tv series. She feels pretend strong, not actually strong, and she was "right" last night in a Shane kind of way. Yeah, now we know the girl doesn't really want to kill herself, but she could have killed herself. Andrea has been walking that gray area of crazy since her sister died, and now she's getting brave with her crazy because Shane taught her how to shoot a gun. I like it, it offsets the dynamic of everyone getting behind Rick.
And, all people are essentially walking around infected by the disease. So when they die, be it natural, or by bite or scratch wherein "the fever" kills them, they come back as a zombie.
There were two things I really loved, loved, about the episode:
1) Rick's speech to Shane about him thinking he knows all the answers. Something to the tune of, there are no rules for this, for what is happening.
2) Shane watching the Zombie walk in the field outside the car window both at the beginning and end of the episode. I would have loved to be inside Shane's mind when he smiled at the end of the episode.

Do you think he actually knows Maggie? I think thats why Rick wants to sleep on it, get some confirmation. I think he may have just heard the names being tossed around and used it to delay him being left for dead.

I think he may have just heard the names being tossed around and used it to delay him being left for dead. Very, very, possible imo. It's sort of a double edged sword for the kid though because I think even Rick, at least in his mind, went, "now we HAVE to kill him. What a ballsy move by the kid if he really doesn't know her. But yeah, when the kid went, "she doesn't know me, but I saw her around and know about her dad," or whatever that line was, I thought BS to myself. I think that kid has to be part of a bigger group for the story to move forward. So even if he wasn't lying about Maggie, I think he has an ulterior motive. Maybe not, maybe it's over thinking but I feel like the kid has to lead to more trouble for Rick and Shane and company.

I would have left the kid on the fence to begin with. I know that sounds bad but he tried to shoot Rick and the others. I would have shot him to spare him becoming a walker and took off. I do think he has other motives. At some point, they are going to have to leave the farm and I bet the kid will play into that somehow.
I see this episode being a major turning point and the group breaking up here really soon. I too wonder what Shane was thinking there at the end. He almost had sympathy as he watched that lone walker in the field. I think that maybe he now feels like he is alone in this world now that Lori and Carl are behind Rick.

Ditto, which is why I get the feeling he matters in terms of where the story is going. If anything, they are using it as a way to demonstrate Rick's humanity and ability to think rationally within the construct of such irrational circumstances, but it seems like more than that to me.
