After the signature WWE intro, cameras in the US Airways Center showed several members of the WWE Universe filing in as we are only a half hour away from the start of the Royal Rumble live on Pay Per View. This is the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show! Josh Mathews introduced tonight's all-star panel consisting of three past Royal Rumble winners. Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio and Stone Cold Steve Austin! Mathews starts things off by covering the match that is guaranteed to be brutal and barbaric. Triple H goes one on one with Bray Wyatt in a No Holds Barred match. "HBK" said that some of the most grueling matches of his career were against Hunter. "This is Triple H's environment. There is no one better than him in something like this, and I think that even Steve Austin can attest to that," he said. Austin agreed with Michaels, saying that Bray Wyatt may have bit off more than he could chew when he attacked Stephanie McMahon.
With not much time to waste, Josh Mathews sent things over to the Kickoff Show commentary unit of Matt Striker and Tony Dawson. The two discussed the upcoming WWE Tag Team Championship match between Wrestling Royalty and two members of God's Gifts, Antonio Cesaro and Damien Sandow. Striker said that today marks day 299 in the reign of Wrestling Royalty. "Standing in the way of day 300 is arguably their toughest challenge yet," said Striker as Dawson agreed with him. He added that even though DiBiase and Hennig overcame Cesaro and Sandow as part of a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match a few weeks ago, God's Gifts proved that they were capable of gaining the victory when they scored one the following week on SmackDown. We are about to find out if Wrestling Royalty will reach day 300, or if their historic reign comes to an end at the hands of Cesaro and Sandow.
| The bell sounded as Ted DiBiase started things off with Antonio Cesaro. The two locked up, Cesaro winning the battle of strength before doing his signature arm gesture. DiBiase approached Cesaro, delivering a slap across his face! Cesaro swung at DiBiase, but failed to connect as one half of Wrestling Royalty delivered a German Suplex for a two count. Cesaro backed into a corner as DiBiase stomped away on him there. He brought Cesaro to over his side of the ring, making the tag to Joe Hennig. Hennig came down onto the arm of Cesaro, covering him for a near fall. He kept and armbar applied on the "Swiss Superman" before Cesaro was able to fight out of it, catching Hennig with a Dropkick. Cesaro made the tag to Sandow, who immediately went for the cover on Hennig. After Sandow failed to get the victory there and then, he struck away on Hennig before whipping him into a corner. Sandow charged towards him, but Hennig got a foot up in time. He stepped onto the second rope, coming down with a Hammer Fist to the top of Sandow's cranium. Hennig got the cover, but only a two count. Hennig placed Sandow on top of the turnbuckles, looking for a Superplex. Sandow, however, managed to fight out of it after a series of headbutts. Sandow delivered an Elbow Drop for a two count. He then made the tag to Cesaro, who teased the Cesaro Swing. Hennig wouldn't allow it as he kicked Cesaro away, catching him with a Scoop Slam upon returning. After Cesaro kicked out, Hennig tagged in DiBiase. The son of the Million Dollar Man dropped a fist onto the face of Cesaro before looking for a Suplex. Cesaro countered it and dropped DiBiase onto the top rope. DiBiase fell back onto the floor as Cesaro covered him for what was barely a one count. The "Swiss Superman" repeatedly rammed DiBiase's head into the top turnbuckle before placing him on the ring apron. In an incredible feat of strength, Cesaro delivered a Suplex as DiBiase stood on the apron, landing it in the ring! Cesaro got the cover, but DiBiase somehow managed to kick. He then called for the Cesaro Swing, which actually garnered a slight pop from the WWE Universe. Cesaro grabbed the legs of DiBiase, swinging him for a short amount of time before looking for the Neutralizer. DiBiase, however, was able to drop Cesaro with an overhead slam before walking groggily into a corner. He caught Cesaro with a huge Lariat as both men attempted to make the tag to their partners. About a split second apart from each other, the tags were made to Hennig and Sandow. Hennig came into the ring fired up, taking it right to Sandow. As he climbed onto the top rope, Cesaro delivered a quick shove. DiBiase retaliated as he and Cesaro brawled on the outside, the former getting the better when he delivered a Yakuza Kick. In the ring, Sandow attempted to deliver the Terminus, but Hennig countered it into a backslide roll up. Sandow managed to kick out, but as he was getting to his feet, Hennig pulled him towards the center of the ring to deliver the Perfect Plex. Hennig successfully hit the maneuver, covering Sandow to get the victory.
| WRESTLING ROYALTY DEFEATS ANTONIO CESARO AND DAMIEN SANDOW ; STILL WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS |
The WWE Universe popped loudly as Joe Hennig stood to his feet, Ted DiBiase joining him in the ring. The two were handed back their WWE Tag Team Championships as they raised them in celebration. We will be seeing all four of these men later on tonight in the Royal Rumble, but the story at the moment is that Hennig and DiBiase have once again successfully defended the Tag Team Titles. "When the clock strikes midnight in a few hours, Wrestling Royalty will have accomplished what very few champions have in WWE - 300 days!" said Matt Striker on commentary.
Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Edge was shown in his office, along with RAW's Bella Twins and the official tumbler that contained the Royal Rumble entry numbers. Derrick Bateman and Maxine soon walked into the room as the former was prepared to draw his number. "Actually, Edge, I have another idea. Instead of me picking my number, here you go," said Bateman as he pulled a checkbook out of his pocket. "Write down any number on it that you would like. All that I ask for in return is that you hand me the #30 entry spot," he said. Edge acted as if he was going to accept the offer before ripping the blank check in font of Bateman. Angered, Bateman had no choice but to select his number like everyone else. When he looked at his number, he shook his head and told Edge that it wasn't good enough. "Too bad," said the 'Rated R Superstar' as Bateman and Maxine left the room.
Returning to the live feed in the arena, Josh Mathews and the all-star panel turned their attention to some of the other matches scheduled for tonight's Pay Per View event. For the Divas Championship match between Paige and Kaitlyn, everyone questioned the condition of the "Anti Diva." Rey Mysterio said that he competed time after time when he knew that he was not 100%, and the result was his retirement. "Paige is incredibly young and incredibly talented, so to see her with this kind of an injury is a shame. I think we have a new Divas Champion in Kaitlyn," said Shawn Michaels. For the World Heavyweight Championship match between Dolph Ziggler and Cody Rhodes, Stone Cold Steve Austin said that Rhodes despite not being able to defeat Ziggler recently, Rhodes may have the momentum. "Two nights ago on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes sent a huge statement with that Piledriver. That damn thing almost ended my career, and it is possible that Rhodes does to Ziggler tonight what he did to Kurt Angle back at Survivor Series," said Austin. They then discussed the Handicap match for the WWE Championship. Shawn Michaels made it clear that Wade Barrett needs to enter the match with his mind on one thing only, and that's the gold. "I worry that Barrett may be too focused on getting his hands on Paul Heyman. In the end, that may be what costs him the match," said Michaels as Mysterio and Austin agreed with him, though Mysterio did say that he believes Barrett will walk away as the new WWE Champion.
With not much time left until the start of the show, Josh Mathews put all three on the spot and asked for their Royal Rumble match predictions. Stone Cold Steve Austin said that this one of the most star-studded Rumble matches that we have ever seen, but he is going to go with the safe pick. "As biased as it may be, I'm going with The Rock. He didn't get the job done against John Cena and CM Punk in 2012, but now is his time to redeem himself by winning the Royal Rumble," said Austin. Shawn Michaels then said that he too has a bit of a biased pick, but it is justified. "In 1995, I was able to enter the Rumble at number one and go on to win the whole thing. If there is anyone else who I believe can do the same, it's Daniel Bryan," said Michaels. Rey Mysterio then stated that he believes tonight's Royal Rumble match will see the rise of the WWE's next mega star. "And I'm looking at two men who made a monumental statement on RAW last week. I know I'm only supposed to make one pick, but I'll go ahead and cheat and say that either Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns will shock the world," said Mysterio. Josh Mathews then signed off as the Royal Rumble begins in a matter of seconds. The road to WrestleMania is on the horizon!
SHOW START
A video package kicked off the official Pay Per View broadcast, starting off with a dark road and the WrestleMania XXIX logo visible at the end of it. We then saw clips of several past Royal Rumble victories including the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Triple H and last year's winner, Wade Barrett. "Doom and Gloom" by The Rolling Stones kicked in as we were shown several of tonight's participants. The video then focused on the events at the end of both RAW and SmackDown. Last Monday night, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns shocked the WWE Universe when they laid out The Rock and John Cena, showing that they will be a force to be reckoned in the Royal Rumble. Over on SmackDown, Randy Orton and Sheamus' Lumberjack match ended in anarchy when the lumberjacks got involved, a Royal Rumble-like brawl ensuing. Suddenly, the video was interrupted by the signature of The Wyatt Family. Throw The Fight's "Not So Hollywood" could be heard in the background while the rivalry between Triple H and Bray Wyatt was highlighted. The situation escalated three weeks ago when Bray Wyatt delivered Sister Abigail to Hunter's wife, Stephanie McMahon. The result would be a No Holds Barred match set for tonight. "Time's up, Hunter.....we're here!""Doom and Gloom" hit once again as a huge pyrotechnics display was set off in the US Airways Center. Cameras scanned the sold out audience as Michael Cole, Jerry "The King" Lawler and Booker T welcomed everyone to the Royal Rumble! The road to WrestleMania begins tonight as thirty men will compete to headline the biggest sports entertainment spectacle in history. Plus, in what is sure to be one of the most barbaric matches in recent memory, Triple H meets Bray Wyatt in a No Holds Barred match. Three championships are set to be defended tonight, including the WWE Championship and the Divas Championship. But first, we kick things off with SmackDown's crowning jewel, the World Heavyweight Championship!
| The WWE Universe members packing the US Airways Center were fired up for this contest as the chants of "Let's go Ziggler!" were deafening. The bell sounded as Cody Rhodes went right after Dolph Ziggler, but failed to connect with his first shot. Ziggler caught Rhodes with a few strikes of his own as he backed the "Prince of Pro Wrestling" into a corner. Ziggler charged towards him with a Splash, but Rhodes managed to dodge it. Rhodes stomped away on Ziggler in a corner briefly before tossing him to the outside. Rhodes attempted to slam Ziggler's face onto the steel steps, but the "Show Off" was able to turn the tables and deliver that fate to Rhodes. Ziggler then stepped onto the ring apron, flying with a Clothesline to Rhodes before rolling him back into the ring while staring at John Bradshaw Layfield, who was in the challenger's corner. Ziggler managed to get a two count before standing to his feet. He hit Rhodes with a few small elbow drops before landing a huge one. After Rhodes kicked out again, Ziggler placed him in a corner. The World Champion hit a few knife edge chops before attempting to whip Rhodes into the opposite corner. Rhodes was able to counter it, hitting a Russian Leg Sweep. He got the cover, but not the victory. Rhodes kept a rest hold on the champion for a bit before Ziggler tried to rally the WWE Universe. He got to his feet, delivering a few elbow strikes to the mid section of Rhodes. Ziggler broke free and ran the ropes, but was hit with a Dropkick. Rhodes then attempted to finish the match right there and then with a Piledriver, but Ziggler countered it into a pinning predicament that Rhodes was barely able to escape from. Ziggler caught Rhodes with a Dropkick up on the two of them getting back to their feet, following that up with another one. Rhodes rolled out of the ring as JBL checked on him, giving a quick pep talk to the leader of God's Gifts. Ziggler interrupted them as he launched himself over the top rope, coming down onto Rhodes and JBL! Ziggler stirred to his feet as he grabbed Rhodes and rolled him back into the ring. As Ziggler was trying to get into the ring himself, JBL grabbed his foot. That allowed Rhodes to stomp away on Ziggler for a bit before JBL let go. The official started shouting at JBL before ejecting him from the ringside area! The crowd erupted as JBL threw kicked his hat away, livid at the decision. The exchange of words between JBL and the official allowed Rhodes the opportunity to grab the World Heavyweight Championship from ringside and strike Ziggler with it! In a similar scenario Rhodes' match with Kurt Angle back at Survivor Series, he tossed the title out of the ring and called for the official to turn around. The count began, but Ziggler somehow managed to kick out at two! Rhodes then climbed onto the top rope, looking back to make sure that Ziggler was stirring to his feet. Rhodes then flew off with a Moonsault, but Ziggler was able to dodge it. As Rhodes attempted to get to his feet, Ziggler took him back down with a Fameasser! Unfortunately for the defending champion, that was not enough to seal the deal just yet. He began to stalk Rhodes as he was looking to hit the Zig Zag. During the process, Rhodes was able to grab the top rope as Ziggler fell back onto the canvas. Rhodes took the opening and delivered Cross Rhodes, but Ziggler was able to get his foot on the bottom rope. Rhodes let out a huge shout as he sat in a corner, panicking as he was obsessed with reclaiming the World Heavyweight Championship here tonight. He then stepped out onto the ring apron, once again waiting for Ziggler to get to his feet. Rhode then springboarded off of the top rope, but Ziggler caught him in mid-air with a Dropkick. Rhodes held his chest and backed against the ropes, the "Show Off" Clotheslining him over and onto the floor. Ziggler went out to ringside, but Rhodes was able to dodge an attack and slam his head onto the announce table. Rhodes pulled the groggy Ziggler towards him, looking for a Piledriver onto the floor. Ziggler reacted quickly, pushing Rhodes away and delivering a Superkick! The World Champion picked Rhodes up off of the floor and rolled him back into the ring for a cover, but could not secure the victory. Ziggler then decided that he would give Rhodes a taste of his own medicine, setting him up for a Piledriver. However, Rhodes was able to counter it, setting Ziggler up for an Alabama Slam. Ziggler held onto the ropes, which prompted Rhodes to turn around and deliver a kick to the front side of Ziggler. The "Prince of Pro Wrestling" was then looking for a Suplex, but Ziggler managed to land on his feet. He then surprised Rhodes by planting him with a Zig Zag! Ziggler quickly crawled onto Rhodes, getting the victory and holding onto his title. | DOLPH ZIGGLER DEFEATS CODY RHODES ; STILL WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION |
The WWE Universe roared for Dolph Ziggler as he stood to his feet, taking back his World Heavyweight Championship. He raised the gold high in the air while staring at the WrestleMania XXIX sign, hoping that he will be the one to carry the title into the biggest event of the year on April 7th in MetLife Stadium. As Ziggler made his way up the entrance ramp, Cody Rhodes was shown sitting in the ring in disbelief at the fact that he failed to regain the World Heavyweight Championship. Not only that, but considering that Rhodes is not participating in the Royal Rumble match later on tonight, it would appear that his chances of headlining WrestleMania are fading away.
A promo was shown for WWE Battleground, featuring the return of the WarGames match. The event is live February 17th, only on Pay Per View.Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Edge was shown in his office with Nikki and Brie Bella, who were spinning the tumbler that contained the Royal Rumble entry numbers. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, who have formed an alliance just for tonight's match, walked into the room. The "Rated R Superstar" said that even though he is pulling for a SmackDown superstar to win the Royal Rumble match, he has to give the two of them credit for what they did to The Rock and John Cena on RAW last Monday. Reigns nodded to Edge as he and Rollins both took their numbers. As Reigns was opening the plastic ball, he noticed that Rollins was simply watching him. "Aren't you gonna open yours?" asked Reigns as Rollins told him that he would wait his turn. Reigns drew his number, appearing to be satisfied with it. As Rollins was prepared to see his number, Reigns raised a question to him. "What if we're not even in the Rumble together? Then what happens to this deal?" asked as Rollins cockily said that they would be in the ring at the same time. "What am I gonna do? Draw number one? Oh, wait. That's Daniel Bryan," he said. When he looked at number, his eyes and mouth both widened. Reigns looked at the number and chuckled, saying that he might be right. "I'll see you out there......if you're lucky," he said before leaving the stunned Rollins in the room.Returning to the arena, the bell sounded as Justin Roberts announced that the next contest is for the Divas Championship. The theme song of Kaitlyn hit as she made her way out to the stage with a dumbbell in her hands, the same one that she used against Paige two weeks ago. As Kaitlyn was marching toward the ring, the commentary trio questioned Paige's decision to compete tonight after a Spear from Kaitlyn on SmackDown that possibly worsened her condition. Paige then made her entrance to a brand new theme song titled "Stars in the Night" as the WWE Universe erupted for her. She stared at Kaitlyn from a distance, knowing that now was her opportunity to gain revenge for herself and her family.
| As soon as Paige entered the ring, she went right after Kaitlyn and backed her into a corner. The "Anti Diva" unloaded with repeated strikes as the official tried to pull her away. As he was doing so, Kaitlyn hit Paige with a huge Clothesline, immediately targeting her already injured head. The bell sounded as Kaitlyn got the cover, but Paige was able to kick out. When asked if she wanted to continue, the Divas Champion opted to do so. She then dodged another shot from Kaitlyn, sweeping her left leg. Kaitlyn fell onto the canvas as Paige unloaded with strikes onto her, even ramming her head in the mat. The official pulled Paige away as Kaitlyn was able to roll out of the ring. Paige would then respond by hitting a Suicide Dive through the second rope! Paige stood to her feet and let out a huge scream before rolling Kaitlyn back into the ring. She went for the victory right there, but Kaitlyn managed to get a shoulder up. Paige then placed Kaitlyn's upper body through the second rope, striking he with repeated knees to the head. The defending champion climbed onto the top rope, coming down with a Crossbody. Kaitlyn, however, was able to catch Paige and plant her with a Fallaway Slam. Paige rolled out of the ring as the official once again asked her if she wanted to continue. Paige insisted, but was then hit with a boot from Kaitlyn. The "Hybrid Diva" rolled into the ring and back out to prevent the count out from happening. As Paige stirred to her feet, Kaitlyn began stalking her. She went for a Spear, but Paige was able to move out of harm's way, causing Kaitlyn to crash into the barricade. The groggy Divas Champion stepped onto the ring apron, leaping off with the intentions of hitting a Hurricanrana. Kaitlyn was able to prevent it, lifting Paige up and Powerbombing her onto the surface of the announce table. Paige held both her head and her back as Kaitlyn tossed her into the ring. She got the cover, but the "Anti Diva" was able to kick out in time. Kaitlyn placed Paige in a corner, repeatedly thrusting her shoulder into her mid-section. Kaitlyn then placed Paige on the top rope, looking to deliver a Superplex. Paige retaliated with a few hard elbow strikes, soon pushing Kaitlyn onto the canvas. Paige then descended with a Foot Stomp, getting the cover on Kaitlyn for a two count. The "Anti Diva" picked Kaitlyn up off of the canvas, looking to plant her with the Paige Turner. Kaitlyn fought out of it, push her away. When Paige turned around, Kaitlyn drilled her with a Spear! Kaitlyn quickly got the cover, but somehow, Paige was able to get a foot on the rope. Now infuriated, Kaitlyn went out to ringside and grabbed the dumbbell that she stole from Paige's family-owned training facility last month. As the official tried to take the dumbbell away from Kaitlyn, Paige charged into her. As the Divas Champion was striking away, she inadvertently caught the official with her elbow. He backed away while holding the side of his face, losing focus on the action for a few seconds. Kaitlyn caught Paige with a headbutt, causing her to stumble back. She then grabbed the dumbbell, intending to strike Paige with it again. Paige, however, was able to catch Kaitlyn with a kick to the mid-section, which caused the dumbbell to slip out her hands and land on her foot! Kaitlyn bent over, holding her foot in pain as Paige rolled the dumbbell out of the ring. The "Anti Diva" took the injured Kaitlyn and applied the Norwich Knot! The official turned his attention back to the match, looking to see if Kaitlyn would submit. Ultimately, she had no choice but to do so. | PAIGE DEFEATS KAITLYN ; STILL DIVAS CHAMPION |
A huge pop emerged from the Phoenix audience as Paige released her hold on Kaitlyn, falling back onto the mat after an incredibly hard fought victory. She was handed back the Divas Championship as she slowly stirred to her feet, raising the title high in the air. Kaitlyn remained lying on the canvas while holding her foot as the commentators stated that after weeks of playing mind games with Paige, it all backfired on her when it mattered the most. Paige took back the dumbbell that belonged to her family, carrying it up the entrance ramp along with her Divas Championship.
A special promo was shown at this time, featuring a shadow of a large figure visible on a wall. Quick flashes of a familiar superstar could be seen before we heard his voice. "I'm back!" he said as Saliva's "I Walk Alone" kicked in. The "Animal" Batista returns as a member of the SmackDown roster in three weeks at Battleground!Returning to the arena, the commentary trio discussed the news that we just as heard as the Batista will be making his return to the WWE in three weeks at Battleground. "As a SmackDown superstar, might I add," said the ecstatic Booker T. While the buzz over that announcement continues, there are three men who are not focused on Batista's return. CM Punk, Paul Heyman and Wade Barrett because coming up next, it is a Handicap match for the WWE Championship. A video package was then shown featuring "Crooked Minds" by Billy Talent. It began with footage from last year's Royal Rumble event, where Wade Barrett outlasted twenty-nine other men to earn a title opportunity at WrestleMania. Barrett would go on to challenge CM Punk for the WWE Championship in an epic encounter in Miami, but Punk managed to come out on top. A few weeks later, Monday Night RAW emanated from England, which is where a rematch between the two took place. In his home country, Barrett was able to defeat Punk and become the first ever English-born WWE Champion. Barrett's reign was short-lived, however, as an injury forced him to relinquish the title. Barrett returned quicker than expected, even saving Punk from a Maddox Administration beat down at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs. Barrett's climb back to the top culminated at Hell in a Cell, where he defeated Dolph Ziggler to regain the WWE Championship. That same night, Punk would turn his back on the WWE Universe by attacking The Rock. At Survivor Series, Punk's transformation was complete as he aligned himself with Paul Heyman. With Heyman now at his side, Punk set his sights back on the WWE Championship, which he successfully captured at Bragging Rights. Wade Barrett, the 2012 Superstar of the Year, would invoke his rematch clause on January 7th in a Steel Cage match. Due to interference from Heyman, Punk was able to narrowly escape with his WWE Championship still intact. The following week, Barrett informed Punk that he would receive one more opportunity at the WWE Title, and this time, it would be a Handicap match involving Heyman. The one year rivalry between CM Punk and Wade Barrett sees its final chapter here tonight at the Royal Rumble.
| The bell sounds as CM Punk tells Paul Heyman to remain in the corner. "It'll be fine. You won't be tagged in," said Punk as he turned around and walked into a huge right hand from Wade Barrett. Every time Punk would get to his feet, Barrett would take him back down with a another. He whipped Punk into the ropes, delivering a back body drop followed by a cover. Punk was able to get a shoulder up before Barrett grabbed Punk's arm, trying to force a tag to Heyman. Punk's agent stepped off of the ring apron, trying to avoid becoming involved in the action. Punk then hit Barrett with a few elbows to the mid section, followed by a knee to his forehead. Barrett stumbled to the outside as Punk connected with a Suicide Dive through the second rope. He rolled Barrett back into the ring, covering him for a two count. The "Best in the World" dropped a few knees onto the face of Barrett before applying a head lock. As Barrett tried to get to his feet, Punk appeared to be trying to gouge his eyes out. The official forced Punk to release Barrett, the WWE Champion complying. Barrett backed against the ropes while he was temporarily blinded, Punk catching him with a Running High Knee. After hitting the follow up Bulldog, Punk covered him again for a two count. The WWE Champion then ascended up to the top rope, pointing towards the sky. He came down with an Elbow Drop, but Barrett was able to move out of harm's way. Barrett picked Punk up off of the canvas, whipping him into his corner. Heyman moved out of the way as any contact with Punk would result in a tag being made. Heyman walked to his side to avoid Barrett, the "Bare Knuckle Fighter" driving his elbow into the side of Punk's neck repeatedly. Barrett pulled Punk towards him, delivering a huge Clothesline for the near fall. With Punk down for a moment, Barrett went out to ringside and attempted to get a hold of Heyman. The agent for the WWE Champion hurried away from Barrett, but was soon caught by his track jacket. Punk, however, was quickly able to intervene as he pushed Barrett face-first into the steel ring post. Punk rolled Barrett back into the ring as he went for the victory, but could not just yet. Punk attempted to lock in the Anaconda Vice, but Barrett was able to fight him off with strikes to the side of his head. Barrett was then looking for a Big Boot, but Punk dodged it and caught the challenger with a Roundhouse Kick. Punk stepped out onto the ring apron, waiting for Barrett to get his feet. The "Best in the World" then springboarded off of the top rope, but was caught in mid-air with the Winds of Change. Barrett quickly went for the cover, but Punk was miraculously able to kick just in time. Barrett pulled down his elbow pad, calling for the Bullhammer Elbow. In the corner of Barrett's eye was Heyman, which caused him to switch targets. Barrett attempted to hit Heyman with the Bullhammer, but Heyman quickly jumped from the apron. Punk rolled Barrett up from behind, but still could not get the victory. When Punk charged towards Barrett, he was lifted into position for the Wasteland. Punk held onto the ropes as Barrett tried to pry him away. He soon did so, but in the process, Punk's foot caught the official. He went down as Barrett was able to successfully hit Wasteland. He got the cover on Punk, but the official was still down. As Barrett tried to revive him, Paul Heyman struck him in the back with a steel chair. The shot had no effect on Barrett, though. He turned around and came face to face with Heyman as the crowd went wild. Punk was still down and out, leaving Barrett and Heyman all alone. "Please! I beg of you!" shouted Heyman as he pleaded for his life. Barrett, however, wasn't willing to listen as he grabbed Heyman by his jacket, finally having the opportunity to extract his revenge. Suddenly, the audience members could be seen standing to their feet with shocked expressions. "Oh my God! Brock Lesnar!" screamed Michael Cole on commentary. Lesnar, who emerged through the crowd, slid into the ring and turned Barrett around, hoisting him to his shoulders! The "Beast Incarnate" delivered an F-5 to Barrett as Heyman looked incredibly relieved. Lesnar stared down at Barrett for a bit before leading Heyman out of the ring. "Thank you....thank you," said Heyman repeatedly as he followed Lesnar up the entrance ramp. Back in the ring, CM Punk slowly crawled onto Barrett as the official regained consciousness. He made the slow count, giving Punk and Heyman the victory. | CM PUNK AND PAUL HEYMAN DEFEAT WADE BARRETT ; STILL WWE CHAMPION |
Some cheers emerged from the WWE Universe as the bell sounded, but most were still in shock at the events that had just transpired. CM Punk was handed the WWE Championship as he raised it high in the air, but the real story here appeared to be the return of Brock Lesnar as he came to Paul Heyman's aid, screwing Wade Barrett out of the title in the process. The replay of the F-5 was shown several times as Punk continued his celebration, holding the title up while staring at the WrestleMania XXIX sign. "CM Punk may be on his way to defending the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, and he has no one but Brock Lesnar to thank for it," said Jerry Lawler.
A promo was shown for WrestleMania XXIX, featuring one of the official theme songs for the event, "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. The greatest spectacle in sports entertainment history is seventy days away!
Backstage, we were once again taken to the office of Edge as United States Champion Rob Van Dam could be seen drawing his number with an unenthusiastic expression on his face. "Not too good?" asked Edge. Van Dam responded with, "No worries, dude!" before leaving the room. Very few numbers were remaining in the tumbler as Edge waited for the next superstar to draw his number. Suddenly, Cody Rhodes burst through the door and tried to open the tumbler. "Cody, what are you doing? You're not in the Rumble," said Edge as Rhodes shouted at him, saying to leave him alone. Edge pushed Rhodes away. "You lost! It's over!" yelled Edge, referring to Rhodes' failure to capture the World Heavyweight Championship earlier. In a fit of rage, Rhodes picked up the tumbler and threw it onto the ground before leaving the room.
Returning to the ringside, the commentators all agreed that Cody Rhodes' obsession with being the World Heavyweight Champion is almost frightening at this point. "Maybe not as frightening as the recent actions of The Wyatt Family. Coming up next, the COO of WWE, Triple H, will have the opportunity to extract his revenge against Bray Wyatt," said Michael Cole before were taken to a video package. As Triple H was accepting the Slammy Award for 2012 Match of the Year, The Wyatt Family interrupted him and laid him out. After a series of verbal exchanges between the two sides, Hunter and Wyatt agreed to meet on the first edition of RAW in 2013. However, before the match began, we saw Stephanie McMahon in the clutches of The Wyatts. Triple H attempted to make the save, but was laid out once again by the unit of four monsters. Bray Wyatt then took things too far when he delivered Sister Abigail to Stephanie. The following week, the Chairman of the Board, Vince McMahon, made his return to both confront and challenge Wyatt. During their encounter later in the night, Vince looked to be in trouble as he was surrounded by the entire Wyatt Family. Triple H would then hit the ring with a sledgehammer, taking out everyone but Wyatt, who was able to escape. Triple H then revealed that he and Wyatt would finally meet one on one at the Royal Rumble in a No Holds Barred match. After defeating Kane in the same match type this past Monday, Triple H looks more focused than ever as he heads into one of the most personal matches in recent memory.
"Phoenix......we're here!" said Bray Wyatt as he blew out his lantern. He and the rest of The Wyatt Family, sans Kane, made their way down to the ring. When the lights came back on, Wyatt could be seen sitting in his rocking chair as the WWE Universe showered him with boos. He simply laughed before rolling into the ring, pacing back and forth. The entrance music of Triple H then hit as the crowd came unglued for the "King of Kings." He stepped out onto the stage in jeans and a t-shirt, showing that he did not come for a match, but rather a fight. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper stood in front of the ring as it appeared that Hunter would have to go through the both of them in order to get to Wyatt.
| With only retribution on his mind, Triple H charged into Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, hitting the both of them with several heavy strikes. He knocked Rowan into Bray Wyatt's rocking chair, continuing to strike away on him. Harper tried to intervene, but Hunter threw him shoulder-first into the steel steps. Hunter then pulled a sledgehammer out from underneath the ring, leveling Rowan over the head with it. When Harper was back on his feet, he charged at Hunter, but ran into the hammer as well. Hunter turned his attention to Bray Wyatt, whose eyes were widened as he screamed, "Bring down the hammer, boss man!" Hunter slid into the ring, but Wyatt stomped away on him as the bell was finally sounded. He kicked the sledgehammer away before picking Hunter up to his feet. As soon as he did so, Hunter broke free of Wyatt's grip and hit him with several right hand shots. He then Clotheslined Wyatt over the top rope before taking apart the Spanish announce table. Wyatt took him down to the ground, getting a few shots of his own in. The "Eater of Worlds" then took one of the monitors, hitting Hunter in the face with it. By that point, Harper and Rowan were both back on their feet as Wyatt ordered them to take care of Triple H. Wyatt rolled back into the ring as he watched two his family members do his dirty work. However, Hunter was able to catch both Harper and Rowan with low blows! He then picked up his sledgehammer, striking Rowan with it. Rowan fell back onto the announce table before Harper hit him with a knee to the mid-section. Harper climbed onto the other announce table with Hunter, but the "Game" had his sledgehammer with him and hit Harper again with it! Harper fell back, crashing onto Rowan through the Spanish announce table! Hunter stood on the announce table, staring down at the fallen Wyatt Family members before turning his head towards Bray. He rushed into the ring, dodging a shot from Wyatt and taking him down. Hunter planted Wyatt with a Spinebuster, but did not go for a cover. Instead, he went out to ringside and brought the steel steps into the ring. As he was doing so, however, Wyatt crawled out of the ring and took a seat in his rocking chair, trying to take a moment to rethink his strategy. Hunter lifted the steel steps over his head, tossing them out of the ring! Wyatt moved out of harm's way, but the steps crashed into his chair, shattering it in the process. Hunter exited the ring and went back after Wyatt, taking a steel chair out from under the ring. He struck Wyatt in the back one time before attempting a mid-section strike. Wyatt was able to grab the chair, pulling it out of Hunter's possession. Wyatt struck Hunter a few times with it before placing it on top of his motionless body. Wyatt then delivered a Running Senton, landing on both Hunter and the chair. The pain did not affect Wyatt all too much as as he picked Hunter up off of the canvas, throwing him into the barricade. He charged at him, but Hunter was able to toss Wyatt with a Back Body Drop into the time keeper's area! Hunter entered the area as well, stomping away on Wyatt repeatedly. He then took the ring bell, hitting Wyatt repeatedly with it, though the cameras never showed the attack. When Hunter picked Wyatt up off of the ground, we could see a bit of blood on Wyatt's forehead. Hunter tossed him back into the ring, finally going for a cover. Wyatt was able to get a shoulder up before Hunter worked on his leg for a bit. He then brought the steel chair into the ring, attempting to strike Wyatt's leg with it. Wyatt rolled out of the way before blasting into Hunter with a Running Crossbody. Wyatt then went out to ringside, looking underneath the ring for something. A few seconds later, he pulled out a small black bag. "No....you're kidding me," said Michael Cole faintly as the audience popped. Wyatt then re entered the ring, standing over Hunter while opening the bag. "You're got tricks......I've got tricks.....ain't the world funny?" said Wyatt with a sadistic smile on his face. He then placed the bag over as thumbtacks fell onto the canvas! The commentators feared for what was about to come as Wyatt approached a corner. He held onto the ropes while hanging his head upside down, staring at Hunter as he waited for him to get to his feet. Wyatt charged towards Hunter, but was caught with a Spinebuster onto the thumbtacks! The audience roared as Wyatt screamed in pain, cameras showing the tacks stuck in his back. A replay of the maneuver was shown twice as Wyatt attempted to stir to his feet. Hunter took the steel chair and delivered a hard shot to the back of Wyatt that was already filled with thumbtacks. He then pulled Wyatt away from the thumbtacks and delivered a Pedigree. However, he did not go for the cover at that moment. Instead, he placed two objects in the ring - the steel steps and his sledgehammer. Hunter placed Wyatt's head against the steps as he lifted the sledgehammer up. Wyatt was able to move out of the way when the hammer collided with the steps. Wyatt then hit Triple H with a low blow before taking the hammer. He struck Hunter with it, the "Game" falling back onto the canvas. Wyatt then picked up Triple H, placing him in position for Sister Abigail. After planting a kiss on the COO's forehead, Wyatt delivered Sister Abigail onto the steps! Hunter was out as Wyatt crawled onto him to get the victory. | BRAY WYATT DEFEATS TRIPLE H |

The first member of God's Gifts to enter the fray, the "Intellectual Savior" Damien Sandow. He ran into the ring, immediately stomping away on Bryan. He placed him a corner, where he delivered a few more kicks before Rollins joined in. The two whipped Bryan into the opposite corner as he collided chest-first with the turnbuckle. Sandow then turned Rollins around and struck him, the two reigniting their rivalry from NXT a number of months ago. Sandow tossed Rollins over, but he was able to hold onto the ropes and slide back in. Bryan, who was back on his feet, caught Sandow with a kick to the side of his leg, followed by a few to Rollins as well. Both Sandow and Rollins were on their knees as Bryan delivered multiple kicks to their chests, the crowd shouting "Yes!" with every one. Wow what a Royal Rumble PPV
Wrestling Royalty overcoming the odds again to retain their titles beating Sandow and Cesaro of God's Gifts yet again with the WWE Tag Team Championships on the line, and now that they have been champions for 299 days it makes me wonder just who can beat them for those WWE Tag Team Championships? I wonder which team will be able to finally dethrone them? Either way now that the Kick-Off is done we can get to the actual pay per view itself
And the panelists HBK, Austin and Mysterio going over their picks of who they think will win the Royal Rumble Match with HBK picking Bryan, Austin picking Rock and Mysterio picking either Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins but then going over the card of who they think will win each match, gotta love it
Now that Ziggler has beaten Cody to retain his World Heavyweight Championship it makes me wonder what Cody will do now? Now that he has come up short Cody's chances of main eventing Mania now have just gone up in smoke but I can't see Cody just taking this and lying down because I have a feeling he will attack a superstar backstage and steal their number as a way to enter himself into the Rumble and if I am right about that then Rhodes could very well main event Mania after all
Reigns and Rollins going to go pick their numbers and being wary of each other because it is every man for himself but Reigns seemingly proud of his number and Rollins on the other hand shocked at his number makes me wonder if Rollins will be there at the end? Or if Rollins chose a early number because if he did then it seems the deal they made will be for nothing
As for Bateman picking his number, he obviously was going to try to buy his way to a higher entry number but to no avail as he picks his number and from the looks of it it makes me wonder if Bateman will be able to get the job done and win the Rumble?
Paige retaining her WWE Divas Championship against all odds by beating Kaitlyn, it makes me wonder just who will be up next for Paige? But Paige retaining in what I thought was a great match despite her injury being concussion-prone making Kaitlyn tap out, it makes me wonder if Kaitlyn is really done with Paige after this? Or if she will insist on a rematch?
Batista back in 3 weeks at Battleground, this is great, and Batista as a Smackdown superstar, it seems Smackdown is getting more and more star power on their show which is even better because Batista being on Smackdown equals ratings
CM Punk retaining his WWE Championship with him & Heyman beating Barrett, well that isn't even the story here, what is the story here is that Brock Lesnar makes his shocking return and costs Barrett the match, with Lesnar seemingly helping Punk to retain his title, you can bet Barrett will want revenge on Lesnar
Bray Wyatt beating Triple H, this puts Wyatt over even more as a heel by beating the COO of this company and the fact that he has been feuding with the McMahons and has seemingly went over them puts his stock over even more by beating Triple H at his own game in his own environment in No Holds Barred, it makes me wonder what is next for Wyatt? I wonder if Triple H is done with Bray after this? Or if there will be a rematch?
And Bryan making history becoming the 3rd man in history to win the Royal Rumble Match from the number 1 position breaking Rey's record of the longest time in the Rumble, kudos to Bryan by him eliminating The Rock to win and Rock being a great sportsman puts Bryan over, definite passing of the torch there but as for Kurt Angle making his shocking return in the Rumble, I loved it, and you can bet Angle will want himself some of God's Gifts specifically Rhodes

Royal Rumble...
Glad to see Wrestling Royalty retain the tag titles shame it was on the free show felt like a bit of a demotion for the tag champs. Good match though.
On to the main card and we kick off with Ziggler retaining over Rhodes. Another good match which then kicked off the show long story of Rhodes trying to get into the Rumble match. Rhodes has grown into a true headliner you deserve credit for that.
Liked the backstage segments with Rollins, Reigns and Bateman 3 stars on the rise.
It's been mentioned many times about the effort you put into the divas division it's un matched. Feel bad that it don't interest me. You write it well but I tend to just skip through all divas segments.
Lesnar costing Barrett the title and saving Heyman was one of the bigger stories of the night. Actually forgot their was a bit of history between Barrett and Brock they had that huge brawl on Raw back at the end of year plus didn't Wade eliminate at Survivor Series.
HHH/Wyatt was my match of the night felt like their match fit their story perfect. Intense brawl, which got Wyatt over well with the big win. Top marks!!
Royal Rumble was great which had many stories throughout some small some huge. Ryback/Rusev continued. Big E got a rub eliminating Show. Bryan/Rollins & Sandow were the iron men. Reigns eliminated Rollins which could also lead somewhere.
We had Angles return which was built perfectly. Cena/Rock continued with Rock tossing Cena out which backs up Rocks claims that Cena can't beat him like a man. Still favour Rock/Cena over the 3 way.
I predicted 3 of the final 4 in fact I predicted 5 of the final 6! Having Bryan get rid of Rock last was great booking and actually possibly helps Bryan more than going coast to coast and breaking the record. With Batista returning to Smack Down wouldn't be surprised to see Bryan go after the WWE title.
Great PPV which kicked off the road to Mania brilliantly!

THE ROYAL RUMBLE, MAGGLE! Good decision to have Wrestling Royalty go over Antonio Cesaro and Damien Sandow for the WWE Tag Team Championships in the Kickoff Show. I just don't see Sandow and Cesaro as the guys to take the belts away. On to the actual show! Good to go with the World Heavyweight Championship match to open things up and Dolph Ziggler retaining comes as no surprise here. Cody Rhodes is likely going into battle with Kurt Angle heading into WrestleMania. Yeah, Reigns. You will see Rollins out there... if you're lucky. I miss the ball tumbling segments. Lol. Ball tumbling. Good to see Paige retain the Diva's Championship over Kaitlyn and thank the lord she bent over. I like that. Best part of the match. I mean, anyway, eh. Batista returning will be good to see, hopefully he'll be HEELTISTA. Knowing you, he probably will be. Up next, the WWE Championship match. CM Punk retaining the WWE Championship, along with Paul Heyman, over Wade Barrett thanks to Brock Lesnar makes sense. Perhaps you're going to go with Lesnar versus Barrett at Mania? HAHA, CODY. IT'S OVER YOU LIL' SHIT! YOU DON'T GET A SPOT IN THE RUMBLE! Grand No Holds Barred Match between Bray Wyatt and Triple H with the right man winning. Wyatt needed the victory here, and Triple H winning would just be bury. Anyway, good match. FINALLY, THE ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH! LETS... DO... THIS!? A lot of stuff going on in this match, from Daniel Bryan going from number one to the end, to Kurt Angle making his return to cost God's Gifts, Cena and Rock going at it and obviously you ripping me off with Bryan winning the Royal Rumble match. I mean, Bryan winning the Royal Rumble match! A good call, as I don't feel Rock or Cena should have won although they'll likely be in the main event at WrestleMania regardless. A very good Royal Rumble pay-per-view, let's get going to WrestleMania!

Batista since he is returning to Smackdown as a member of the Smackdown roster then Batista here is hoping he returns as HEELTISTA because if he does then Batista I can see him returning to have feuds with Kurt Angle, Sheamus, Chris Jericho if he shows up, or Batista feuding with Orton or even God's Gifts but Batista returning on the Road to WrestleMania 29 I can just guarantee Batista will have a match at Mania but who will he face though?
I can see Lesnar vs Barrett happening at WrestleMania 29, Lesnar the Ultimate Fighter the Beast Incarnate going up against Barrett the Bare-Knuckle Fighter yes this match will probably be as brutal as they come, their match will probably be not a brawl but a fight, I can see this being a war between these 2 men and them stealing the show at Mania
But as for Daniel Bryan there is still the issue of his WrestleMania 29 decision and just which champion Bryan will face in the main event of WrestleMania, will Bryan choose the WWE Championship choosing Punk? Or will Bryan choose the World Heavyweight Championship choosing Ziggler to face off against at Mania?
And then there's The Undertaker returning, I wonder if Taker will return for WrestleMania 29 and if he does I wonder who will be the guy who ends up facing Taker for his 20-0 undefeated streak? Will Taker take the streak to 21-0 or will it be 20-1? Either way the superstars who I could see facing Taker at Mania are: Randy Orton, Sheamus, CM Punk should he lose his title, Chris Jericho, Sting if you do bring Sting in, Ziggler if he should lose his title, Cody Rhodes, or Kurt Angle or even Bray Wyatt could take on The Streak
But for Battleground you have the War Games Match, I wonder who will be the 2 teams inside War Games?

"My name is Ryan and I'm lazy so I did quick results." That's what you sound like. Anyway, onto the Rumble. Like how you did the Pre-Show and the panel is good. Awesome to see Wrestling Royalty retain as 300 days is a very cool milestone to reach. Though I say their reign needs to end soon. Again, excellent choice to write up the Pre-Show, very realistic. Smart to open with the World Heavyweight Championship, figured Dolph Ziggler would retain since he just won the belt. Wonder what Cody Rhodes is going to do heading into WrestleMania 29. Also liked how the finish seemed to come from out of nowhere. I see God's Gifts being involved in War Games. Hell yea the Bella Twins are ball girls. I always loved these segments. I see Seth Rollins drawing number two. Very good Divas match and I knew Paige would retain. Kaitlyn looked great going into this match but Paige had to overcome the odds. I see her as Champion going into WrestleMania. Bringing back Batista? Interesting. Wonder if you'll go the Heeltista route. Again, love the year long rivalry between CM Punk and Wade Barrett, it's an original feud that is all your own. Great match and shocked at Brock Lesnar's appearance. I remember Lesnar battling Punk at Hell in a Cell last so surprised he helped Punk. Cody Rhodes snapping in the back is interesting. Brutal No Holds Barred match, though it would never happen in a PG era. The spinebuster onto tacks was sick and Triple H's attempt to pretty much kill Bray Wyatt was an interesting call. Glad that Wyatt won though as he needed it more. Cody stealing Santino's number works for me. Would love Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan as 1 and 2 in a real life Royal Rumble. Love the mention of Rollins and Damien Sandow's NXT rivalry. Bryan getting the first elimination is cool. Randy Orton entering at his 2009 number is a nice nod to that Rumble. Ryback cleaning house is great, I love when big men do that. Rusev pulling him is out draws him massive heat and builds their feud plus it keeps Ryback strong. Avada Kedavra! Nice mention of the Real Americans being a threat to Wrestling Royalty. Glad Benjamin had a good showing. Having Big E Langston eliminate Big Show in his debut was perfect. Loved Derrick Bateman getting excited when he thought he eliminated The Rock. Cool to see Rock interacting with Big E, Cesaro and others that he normally wouldn't. Cody eliminating Wrestling Royalty is cool and happy to see Bryan, Rollins and Sandow lasting a long time. Kurt Angle returning is huge and him taking out the entire God's Gifts was great. Awesome moment. Dean Ambrose had a great showing too. I'm so glad that you didn't have John Cena as part of the final four. Would've been too obvious. Daniel Bryan! Awesome performance breaking the record, and eliminating The Rock last is one of the biggest things that could happen for him. Awesome show and I cannot wait for the Road to WrestleMania.

| January 28th, 2013 Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV Battleground is live in three weeks on Pay-Per-View!
Following the signature WWE intro, cameras cut directly to the arena as Justin Roberts introduced the WWE Champion, CM Punk. "Cult of Personality" then hit to a chorus of boos as Punk made his way down to the ring, no Paul Heyman in sight. Once in the ring, Punk soaked in the boos as he encouraged the Las Vegas to, "Keep them coming!" Punk said that he wants the WWE Universe to take a look at the sight before them. "Last night at the Royal Rumble, Paul Heyman was wrongfully placed in harm's way in a ridiculous Handicap that pitted the two of us against Wade Barrett. And since the conclusion of that match, people have referred to my victory as 'controversial.' Believe me when I say that there is nothing controversial about it. Heyman and I defeated Barrett, and I still stand before you as the 'Best in the World' and the WWE Champion. People want to talk about how Brock Lesnar got involved? Here's the reality. Brock Lesnar saved Paul Heyman from an undeserving beat down, but he did not save my title reign. That one was all on me." Punk then said that Heyman and Lesnar will be arriving to the arena later in the evening, hence the reason why the former is not with him at this time. "After everything that I have done for this company in the past two years, I believe that a vacation of sorts is in order. What I mean by that is that the WWE Championship will not be defended again until WrestleMania XXIX. So whether I meet the Royal Rumble winner, Daniel Bryan...." said Punk as the crowd broke into a "Yes!" chant. "....or someone else who deserves the opportunity, you will not see me put my title on the line until then," said Punk. As he was about to leave, the theme of The Rock hit to a massive ovation. The "Great One" marched down to the ring as Punk seemed to be incredibly annoyed by his appearance. Rock took a microphone and said that this is nothing new. "CM Punk is taking the easy way out. No title defenses until WrestleMania? What, did you have to hold the company hostage for that, too?" asked Rock as the crowd reacted to his words. "If that's the way things are going to be, then your ass better believe that The Rock is looking for that title match at WrestleMania," said the "Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment." CM Punk laughed at the comment, telling Rock that he understands that he lives in a fantasy world, but in the real world, title matches are rewarded to winners. "I haven't seen you win anything as of late, Dwayne. You've been nothing more than a footnote for the past year. You lost to John Cena at WrestleMania last year. You lost me to at Survivor Series. Last night, you were eliminated by a man nearly half your size. And on top of that, he could end up receiving the title match that you've been bitching and crying over," said Punk. Rock responded to the "Best in the World" by saying that as far as Bryan goes, his stature doesn't matter. "Daniel Bryan has just as big of a heart as The Rock and everyone else in the back who loves the WWE. That is why he won the Royal Rumble match, and if he chooses to go for the WWE Championship, The Rock guaran-damn-tees that he is going to make you tap out at WrestleMania," said Rock as the audience applauded him, chanting "Yes!" thunderously. Punk said that if Bryan wants to have his dreams crushed, then he should choose to face him on April 7th. Otherwise, someone else will get that opportunity. "And that someone else will not be you, Dwayne." Punk left the ring as he raised the WWE Championship high in the air, taunting The Rock with it. After Punk left, Rock remained in the ring as the audience continued to chant his name, the "Great One" looking around the WWE Universe and thanking them. All of a sudden, the signature of The Wyatt Family hit! The crowd buzzed as the lights shut, though they soon reappeared as we saw The Wyatts surrounding the ring. As the four of them entered, The Rock went right after Bray Wyatt before he was mauled by Kane, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. The unit delivered a vicious beat down to Rock before Wyatt asked for Harper and Rowan to pick him up off of the canvas. Wyatt had Rock in his clutches as he planted a kiss on his forehead before hitting Sister Abigail! "He's got the whole world in his hands....." said Wyatt before letting out a laugh. The Wyatt Family stood tall over The Rock as boos continued to rain down on the faction, the entire world confused as to why they targeted The Rock.
Returning to Monday Night RAW, a recap of the opening segment was shown, where we learned that WWE Champion, CM Punk, will not be defending his title until WrestleMania XXIX. However, the real story came afterwards as The Wyatt Family attacked The Rock.
UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERS MATCH DERRICK BATEMAN W/ MAXINE DEF. THE MIZ, KOFI KINGSTON AND FANDANGO We kicked things off here tonight with a Fatal Four Way match to determine the new #1 contender for the United States Championship. The current champion, Rob Van Dam, joined Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler on commentary as he observed all of his potential challengers. Towards the end of the match, Miz planted Fandango with a Skull Crushing Finale before Derrick Bateman grabbed him and thew him out of the ring. Bateman got the cover on Fandango, picking up the scraps to get the victory.
The audience expressed their dismay for the outcome as Derrick Bateman stood to his feet, having an over-the-top celebration for this victory. He brought Maxine into the ring, who tried to push him away when he hugged her. Rob Van Dam stood up from his chair at ringside as Bateman stared at him, mocking his signature thumb taunt. At some point soon, Van Dam will put the United States Championship on the line against Bateman!
A graphic was shown that featured an image of Brock Lesnar standing over Wade Barrett at the Royal Rumble last night. Later tonight, we will hear from both Lesnar and Paul Heyman, and we are certain that the "Bare-Knuckle Fighter" will not be too far behind.
A promo was shown for this Wednesday's edition of WWE NXT. As they prepare for their NXT Championship on February 27th's iPPV, Kassius Ohno and Sami Zayn will compete in Pick Your Poison matches. WWE NXT, this Wednesday on ION Television.
Returning to the broadcast, Josh Mathews was shown backstage standing outside of the trainer's room, where The Rock was currently receiving medical attention after the attack from The Wyatt Family earlier in the evening. As Mathews was speaking, Rock exited the room while holding his ribs. When Mathews asked how he was doing, he lashed out at him. "How do you think The Rock is doing? He just got his ass kicked by a bunch of hillbillies! Here's what's going to happen. Later tonight, The Rock is going to go back out into that ring and he is going to call out The Wyatt Family to finish what they started," said Rock as he left the scene.
THE USOS DEF. THE PRIME TIME PLAYERS Some solid tag team action here on RAW between two teams who were looking to get back into the hunt for the WWE Tag Team Championships, currently held by Wrestling Royalty, who are on their 300th day as the champions. Michael Cole mentioned on commentary that if Ted DiBiase and Joe Hennig can make it to Friday, March 1st, with the gold, they will officially become the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in history. The Usos made a case as to why they have the ability to prevent that from happening when Jimmy Uso put away Titus O'Neil with a Superfly Splash.
Jimmy Uso was joined by his brother, Jey, as the two celebrated their victory with the WWE Universe. While that was going on, cameras showed The Real Americans watching from a TV monitor in the backstage area. The competition seems to be heating up in the tag team division as Wrestling Royalty is on the verge of becoming the longest reigning champions in WWE history.
Backstage, Roman Reigns and Brad Maddox were shown in the locker room area as Maddox stated he knew Seth Rollins would fall into their trap at the Royal Rumble. "We gained his trust, only to crush his dreams," said Maddox before Reigns cut him off. "We? What do you mean 'we?' Were you in the Royal Rumble? Did you make it to the final three?" asked Reigns. Maddox tried to say that he wasn't trying to take credit for anything, but Reigns didn't see things that way. "Brad, a while back, maybe I did need you. Maybe we all did, which is why the Administration even took off in the first place. But now, I've realized that you're doing nothing but preventing my career from skyrocketing," said Reigns as the WWE Universe actually cheered him on. "What I'm trying to say, Brad, is that you should find someone else's coattails to ride, because you ain't staying on mine," said Reigns as he left the room, bringing his alliance with the former RAW General Manager to an end!
Following the commercial break, we saw footage from prior to the show as several Divas from both RAW and SmackDown were shown sitting in the locker room area. SmackDown General Manager, Edge, was holding a meeting of sorts. "In the absence of RAW's General Manager, Ric Flair, and since this impacts some of SmackDown's Divas as well, I've called all of you here to make an announcement. The Divas division has gone to new heights as of late and all of you are deserving of a chance to lead it. However, there can only be one challenger going forward, which is why there will be a tournament starting tonight and will conclude at Battleground. The winner will go on to face Paige for the Divas Championship at WrestleMania," said Edge as the Divas in the room began to argue, claiming that they will win the tournament. The former #1 contender, Kaitlyn, approached Edge and asked why she needs to be a part of a tournament to earn another title match. "Did you not see Paige cheat to beat me last night," asked Kaitlyn. "I saw you drop a dumbbell on your foot," said Edge in response to her. The "Rated R Superstar" then told Kaitlyn that since she seems very eager to reclaim her spot, her match against Naomi will kick off the tournament. The "Hybrid Diva" left the room, but came face-to-face with Naomi on her way out.
DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERS TOURNAMENT QUARTER-FINALS MATCH KAITLYN DEF. NAOMI Prior to the sound of the bell, Divas Champion Paige made her way down to ringside to watch the first match of the tournament to determine her WrestleMania opponent. Throughout the match, Kaitlyn kept her eyes locked on Paige as she believes that she was cheated out of the Divas Championship last night at the Royal Rumble. After Kaitlyn was able to dodge a Rear End from Naomi, she drilled her with a Spear to grab the victory.
The bell sounded as Kaitlyn stood to her feet to a negative response from the WWE Universe. She then went out to ringside, coming face-to-face with Paige. The exchanged words before the official forced Kaitlyn away in order prevent an altercation between the two rivals. The bracket for the tournament was shown as Kaitlyn has advanced to the second round. The other Quarter-Finals matches consist of AJ Lee vs. Tamina, Brie Bella vs. Natalya, and Nikki Bella vs. Alicia Fox. Kaitlyn will meet the winner of Brie vs. Natalya, which takes place this Friday on SmackDown.
Backstage, Scott Stanford was standing by with John Cena. Cena stepped onto the set as the crowd gave a usual mixed reaction to him. When asked for his thoughts coming out of the Royal Rumble, Cena said that there is so much that he could say, but for the time being, all he wants to do is congratulate Daniel Bryan on what was perhaps the greatest performance in Royal Rumble match history. As Stanford was asking for Cena's thoughts in regard to WWE Champion, CM Punk's, announcement earlier tonight that he would not be defending the title against until WrestleMania, Stanford suddenly stopped and walked away from the interview. A confused Cena was then attacked by Kane, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan! After assaulting The Rock earlier in the broadcast, The Wyatt Family have also targeted John Cena. Harper and Rowan grabbed Cena by his arms and handed him over to Bray Wyatt, who stared at Cena while laughing. Wyatt then planted Cena with Sister Abigail onto the floor! "He's the whole world in his hands....." sang Bray Wyatt. The Wyatt Family stood tall over Cena, making him their second victim this evening.
A promo was shown for this Friday's edition of SmackDown. After an eventful and chaotic Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View event, Daniel Bryan will celebrate his victory with the WWE Universe. Plus, after the shocking return of Kurt Angle, how will Cody Rhodes and God's Gifts respond? SmackDown, this Friday on SyFy.
Returning to Monday Night RAW, we were shown footage of what happened prior to the commercial break as The Wyatt Family attacked John Cena in the backstage area, not even an hour after doing the same to The Rock at the top of the broadcast. Jerry "The King" Lawler said on commentary that since Bray Wyatt keeps talking about taking over the WWE, it looks like that with Triple H out of the way, The Wyatt Family are now targeting RAW's biggest stars.
The entrance music of Brock Lesnar hit to a chorus of boos as the "Beast Incarnate" made his way down to the ring along with his agent, Paul Heyman. After the two stepped into the ring, Heyman took a microphone. "Ladies and gentlemen, may name is Paul Heyman, and I am here to speak on behalf of my client, Brock Lesnar. A number of month ago, Brock Lesnar stated that he would never be seen in a WWE ring ever again. My client intended on staying true to his word, but several occurrences changed everything. Brock Lesnar identified the wrongful treatment that I was receiving when I was forced to compete alongside the WWE Champion, CM Punk, against Wade Barrett last night at the Royal Rumble. In an act of protest against the higher-ups, Brock Lesnar made his presence felt when he gave Mr. Barrett exactly what he deserved. To reiterate what CM Punk stated earlier, Brock Lesnar did not assist him in retaining the WWE Championship. Brock Lesnar simply did the right thing by saving an innocent man from a beat down at the hands of a coward like Wade Barrett." Paul Heyman received a ton of heat as and Lesnar were about to leave after giving their statement. However, the theme of Wade Barrett hit to a huge ovation from the WWE Universe. Barrett made his way out to the stage as Heyman tried to reason with him, saying that Brock Lesnar was not looking for a fight at the moment. Lesnar, however, knocked the microphone out of Heyman's hands and exited the ring, he and Barrett walking towards each other. The two then began exchanging shots on the entrance ramp before Barrett took Lesnar down! Barrett unloaded with several right hand shots before picking up Lesnar, throwing him into the steel ring post. Barrett stepped onto the ring apron as he waited for Lesnar to get to his feet. Barrett then leaped off with a Clothesline onto the "Beast Incarnate." Barrett then picked up a steel chair from ringside, but Lesnar was able to avoid a shot from it and lift Barrett up. Lesnar dropped Barrett spine-first onto the edge of the announce table. Lesnar then took the steel chair, delivering repeated shots to the back of Barrett. Paul Heyman tried to call off the attack, but Lesnar would not listen to a single word from his agent. Lesnar then hoisted Barrett up to his shoulders, delivering an ribs-first F-5 into the ring post! Barrett wrenched on the floor in agonizing pain as Heyman tried to calm Lesnar down, soon getting his client to comply and leave the scene. Heyman and Lesnar made their way up the entrance ramp as several medics attending to the fallen Barrett.
Returning to Monday Night RAW, a recap of the previous segment was shown that saw a brawl break out between Brock Lesnar and Wade Barrett. We then saw footage from during the commercial break as Barrett was assisted to the backstage area. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler discussed the anarchic scene, the former saying that he does not see tonight's turn of events stopping Barrett from going even further to get his revenge. "I don't even know if there is any arena big enough to contain those two," said Lawler.
Backstage, Renee Young was standing by with Seth Rollins. Rollins stepped into the scene as he was asked for his thoughts after coming up short in the Royal Rumble match last night at the hands of the man that he believed was his ally, Roman Reigns. Rollins said that he has no one to blame for what happened but himself. "In retrospect, it was foolish of me to think that I could trust a man as selfish as Roman Reigns. What he did earlier to Brad Maddox just proves that. He used to Maddox to get himself to the top, and then dropped him like a bad habit. Well tonight, I have the chance to get my revenge on Reigns, and I'll prove to him that when it comes to the rising stars of Monday Night RAW, I'm the one who people will be talking about for years to come."
RUSEV W/ LANA DEF. R-TRUTH This was the in-ring debut for Rusev on Monday Night RAW after his impressive showing in the Royal Rumble match, cut short by Ryback. As R-Truth was going for an Axe Kick, Rusev caught him with a wicked Spinning Heel Kick. Under the orders of his manager, Lana, Rusev then locked in the Accolade, Truth losing consciousness as the official called for the bell.
The bell sounded as Rusev was announced as the winner of the bout, though he refused to relinquish the Accolade that he had on R-Truth. Suddenly, the entrance music of Ryback hit as the WWE Universe came unglued! "Big Hungry" marched down to the ring as Rusev stood to his feet, waiting for Ryback to step in. After he did so, the two behemoths began trading blows. Rusev kicked Ryback away, but he responded with a Meathook Clothesline! Rusev rolled out of the ring as he tried to go back in, but Lana stopped him. "The pathetic American is not worth our time," said Lana as she and Rusev headed up the entrance ramp, Ryback leading his hometown audience in a, "Feed me more!" chant.
A graphic was shown to promote The Rock's promise to call out The Wyatt Family later on tonight. Coming up next, however, Roman Reigns goes one on one with Seth Rollins, live on Monday Night RAW!
Returning from the commercial break, it was revealed that at Battleground, Ryback and Rusev will finally get their opportunity to meet one on one. What will happen when "Big Hungry" collides with the "Bulgarian Brute" in three weeks in New Orleans?
ROMAN REIGNS DEF. SETH ROLLINS VIA DISQUALIFICATION Just one week after standing tall over The Rock and John Cena, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have become bitter rivals after the latter was eliminated in the Royal Rumble match after lasting nearly one hour. Reigns, who denounced his alliance with Brad Maddox earlier in the evening, was favored by the WWE Universe for the first time. The two young guns were able to put on an incredible main event with several near falls. As Reigns was preparing for one final Spear, Brad Maddox ran down to ringside and grabbed his leg from underneath the bottom rope. The official called for the bell, signalling the disqualification finish.
While Brad Maddox still had a hold on Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins attacked him in a corner. The audience booed as Rollins continued his assault until Reigns fended him off. Rollins staggered into the center of the ring before being taken down with a Superman Punch! Reigns then turned his attention to Maddox, who quickly tried to escape. Reigns, however, was able to get a hold of him. He violently threw Maddox into a barricade before looking as if he was going to leave. Reigns, however, turned around and locked his eyes on Maddox, who was stirring to his feet. After letting out his signature howl, Reigns hit Maddox with a Spear through the barricade! The WWE Universe erupted as Reigns stood on the announce table, raising his arms as he looked on at the sea of fans that now supported him.
A graphic was shown as coming up next, The Rock will head down to the ring and call out the unit that attacked him at the top of the show, The Wyatt Family!
A promo was shown for Battleground, live Sunday February 17th, only on Pay-Per-View.
Returning to the broadcast, the entrance music of The Rock hit as the crowd once again came unglued for the "Great One." He marched down to the ring with authority as Rock was looking for a fight. "Cut The Rock's music. As everyone saw, The Rock was attacked earlier by a couple of freaks who call themselves The Wyatt Family. Bray, you want to talk about having the whole world in your hands? Well you're about to have The Rock's boot in your ass, so why don't you and the rest of your inbred lunatics come on down here?" said Rock as the audience popped once again. The Rock waited patiently in the ring for the arrivals of The Wyatts. However, the entrance music of John Cena. Cena appeared to be all business as well as he marched down to the ring. "John, The Rock understands that you might have been confused when he said, 'inbred lunatics," but The Rock wasn't referring to you for once," said the "Great One." Cena told Rock that he should put a couple of things aside for a minute. "Put aside your jokes, put aside your one-liners, but most of all, put aside your differences with me. Believe me, after what you did to me at the Royal Rumble, I want nothing more than to stand in this ring and go one-on-one with the 'Great One,' not stand side-by-side with him. But, you and I have a common enemy because you weren't the only one who was attacked by The Wyatt Family earlier tonight, and you sure as hell are not the only one who is looking for a piece of them," said Cena. He told Rock that whether he wants his help or not, he is here to have a go at Bray Wyatt and the rest of his family. Cena threw down his microphone as he and Rock stared at each other, neither thrilled with the idea of having the work together again.
Suddenly, the entrance music of Triple H hit. The COO of the WWE made his way down to the ring in street clothes, which he competed in last night at the Royal Rumble. Hunter stepped into the ring, telling Rock and Cena that they couldn't possibly have forgotten about the man who The Wyatt Family began this whole "Takeover journey" with. "Bray Wyatt attacked the two of you? Guess what? He attacked one of my best friends, Ric Flair. He attacked the Chairman of this company and my father in law, Vince McMahon. But above all else, he put his hands on my wife. I couldn't get the job done at the Royal Rumble, but I am not done fighting this fight. You two want to take on The Wyatt Family? That's fine, but you're going to have to do it alongside me," said Hunter. It would appear that three of the WWE's megastars are prepared to go into battle with The Wyatt Family. As the three of them looked back and forth at each other, the signature of The Wyatt Family hit. "Las Vegas......we're here!" said Wyatt before blowing out his lantern. The Wyatt Family then began to head down to the ring as Bray Wyatt sported the battle scar on his forehead from his No Holds Barred match with Triple H just twenty-four hours ago. When the lights came back on, all four members were standing on the ring apron, just like they did earlier in their initial attack. Rock, Cena and Hunter all took their positions before The Wyatts stepped into the ring. A huge brawl broke out, but the numbers game looked to be catching up to the three faces. Wyatt was able to sit silently in a corner as he watched Kane, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan deliver a beat down to their three targets. All of a sudden, the theme of Ric Flair hit! For the first time since being attacked by The Wyatts, the General Manager of RAW made his way out to the stage! With a chair in his hands, Flair ran down to the ring and swung it at all of the Wyatt Family members. Bray Wyatt exited the ring as Flair, Cena, Rock and Hunter were all able to take out Kane, Harper and Rowan. Wyatt called all of his family members over to him as they headed up the entrance ramp. Triple H then took a microphone, saying that this battle is far from over. "You wanted a war, Bray Wyatt? You've got one. So here's how it's gonna go down. The four of us against the four of you at Battleground in a WarGames match!" The WWE Universe erupted at the announcement as The Wyatt Family was irate, though Bray tried to calm his family members down. Hunter, Flair, Cena and Rock all stood tall in the ring as in three weeks, they will be going to war with The Wyatt Family!

Wow what an announcement, War Games at Battleground it will be Triple H, Flair, Rock, and Cena to team up to take on all 4 members of the Wyatt Family Bray Wyatt, Kane, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, talk about a blockbuster main event for Battleground but can Triple H, Flair, Rock and Cena all get along? I mean 4 massive egos all on one team and not to mention the Wyatts are a cohesive unit so it should be interesting to see what happens at Battleground
Roman Reigns kicking Brad Maddox to the curb I love it, I wonder if this means Roman Reigns is turning babyface? If it is then I am all for it, Roman Reigns would make a kick-ass babyface anyway and with him beating Rollins by DQ because of Maddox getting involved trying to cost Reigns the match, genius and then when Rollins is attacking Reigns with Maddox in the background and Rollins trying to get away, Reigns takes out Maddox with a Spear through the barricade, I wonder if after that, if that will be the last time we ever see Brad Maddox at least for a while
Rusev vs Ryback at Battleground, I am all for that, considering we will finally get to see these 2 monsters these 2 behemoths go at it finally and for it to happen so close to Mania, I love it because this will be probably Ryback's toughest challenge to date but also this will be Rusev's toughest challenge to date too, Godzilla (Ryback) going up against King Kong (Rusev) but seeing Rusev beat up on Truth, I loved it, only for Ryback to come to the rescue just builds up their match even more
Brock Lesnar's attack that savage attack on Wade Barrett I wonder if that is the last time we see Barrett at least after that, I mean that rib-first F5 into the steel ring post, definite injury for Barrett I wouldn't be surprised if Lesnar put him on the shelf but knowing Barrett I can see his thirst for revenge after this growing even more and then it setting up Lesnar vs Barrett at WrestleMania 29 with their Contract Signing being at Battleground
The Wyatts going after RAW's biggest stars in Cena and Rock, and after Bray Wyatt seemingly has taken out the RAW GM Ric Flair and the COO of this company Triple H it makes me wonder if the Wyatts are single-handedly trying to take over the WWE themselves? If they are then it makes sense now this is a cohesive unit, hell more cohesive than God's Gifts that's for sure
I am actually looking forward to Smackdown because of the 2013 Royal Rumble Match winner Daniel Bryan and why? Because he still has to make his WrestleMania decision and just which champion he will face at WrestleMania 29? Will Bryan choose the WWE Champion CM Punk to face at Mania or will Bryan choose the World Heavyweight Championship choosing Ziggler? Either way he has a decision to make and I can see him making it either on Smackdown or choosing to wait until Battleground to make his decision
But also looking forward to Kurt Angle's return to Smackdown and if he will go after every member of God's Gifts one by one until he gets to Cody Rhodes? If he does then God's Gifts better watch their backs
WWE Divas Championship tournament with Kaitlyn, Naomi, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Natalya, AJ, Alicia Fox and Tamina and the winner of this tournament faces Paige at WrestleMania 29 for the WWE Divas Championship, then if this tournament goes all the way through Battleground then I am all right with that but I wonder what the tournament bracket then is like? Brie Bella vs Natalya, AJ Lee vs Tamina, and Nikki Bella vs Alicia Fox but Kaitlyn since she beat Naomi in the first tournament match she has to face the winner of Brie vs Natalya then I have a feeling she will face Brie Bella, AJ will beat Tamina and Nikki Bella will beat Alicia Fox
Then the semis will be Kaitlyn vs Brie, and AJ vs Nikki and then the finals will either be Sister vs Sister with Brie vs Nikki or it will be Former Best Friends going at it with Kaitlyn vs AJ
But I loved the announcement of the tournament by the Smackdown GM Edge, he has really taken charge since becoming Smackdown General Manager
Wrestling Royalty are on the verge of history becoming the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in history or they will be if they can pass March 1st but which teams can dethrone them? Let's see there's The Real Americans of Swagger & Benjamin, Cesaro and Sandow of God's Gifts, Harper & Rowan of the Wyatt Family, The Usos, PTP just to name a few teams, yes the tag team division is surely heating up now isn't it? But seeing The Usos beat the Primetime Players yes that definitely makes them the frontrunners to get the job done
Derrick Bateman the New Million Dollar Man of the WWE, I have coined that nickname for him because everyone everyone's gotta a price for Bateman and seeing as how it has finally paid off he becomes the new #1 Contender for the WWE United States Championship by winning a Fatal 4-Way by beating Fandango, Kofi, and Miz to get the job done, if anyone can dethrone RVD it is probably Bateman
But seeing how you opened the show up with the WWE Champion CM Punk, loved it but yes his win last night at the Rumble was definitely controversial to say the least because if it hadn't been for Brock Lesnar then Barrett would be WWE Champion right now but he isn't and Punk has Lesnar to thank for that because Punk he was well on his way to losing the WWE Championship and would have lost it had Lesnar not gotten involved but then Punk going on about how he won't defend his title until WrestleMania 29, I have a feeling Punk will have a match at Battleground and he will have no choice but to defend his WWE Championship but against who though? Rock interrupting Punk I loved it but the segment all ending in the Wyatts attacking Rock, I have to wonder why?

Feels like we're on the road to WrestleMania. Punk opening the show was good not sure what's next for Punk originally thought 3 way with Rock/Cena but he could face Bryan or maybe a long shot we could see a 3 way between Bryan/Punk & Ziggler.
Bateman makes a good contender to the US title. Wrestling Royality have a target date would like to see them hit it but would be a decent story if a team cost them at the final hurdle would put great heat on a team like Real Americans.
Reigns sacking off Maddox and his match with Rollins turned Reigns face. Reigns getting the spotlight tonight enhanced Reigns.
Wyatt's attacking Rock & Cena was a bit of a surprise but made for a good story throughout Raw. Understand why HHH would make war games and the match will be gruesome but not sure of the involvement of Rock and Cena at the minute they just seem added on to make up the numbers but it does keep both occupied until they meet in some form at Mania.
Also has Flair come out of retirement for this match?
Overall shows are going over well and look forward to see what you surprise us with next.

THE WRESTLING TRUTH By Ryan Moreno | January 29th, 2013 | - Perhaps one of the biggest stories coming out of last night's edition of Monday Night RAW came from an off-screen occurrence. Prior to the start of the broadcast, many websites reported that AJ Styles was backstage at the Thomas & Mack Center. A few months ago, Styles parted ways with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling after refusing to take a pay cut. He was written off of TNA television by quitting on an episode of Impact Wrestling following a loss at Turning Point, which denied him a World Championship opportunity for one year. The idea was that Styles would be kept off of TV while he and TNA negotiated a new contract, but the deal ultimately fell through and his departure became a real life event. Since then, the Gainesville native has competed on the independent scene with rumors circulating that World Wrestling Entertainment was interested in signing him. It is being said that no contract has been offered to Styles, but he and Triple H did have a meeting that was said to have gone very well. Clearly, the idea of AJ Styles competing in a WWE ring is one that many fans perceive as surreal. Only time will tell if the "Phenomenal One" will shock the world of professional wrestling.
- After certain events on RAW last night, it would be assumed that both CM Punk and Paige are guaranteed to walk into WrestleMania XXIX as the WWE Champion and Divas Champion respectively. It is being said that Punk has been working through injuries as of late and will be allowed a bit of time off in order to heal up for the biggest event of the year, which would mean that he will indeed not be defending the title against until 'Mania, which was mentioned in the promo that he cut last night. Paige, on the other hand, does not have a legitimate injury that will prevent her from competing. Our sources have told us that the creative team has planned all along for her to sit back and continue to sell her storyline injuries from Kaitlyn, while several of the other Divas compete in a number one contender's tournament. The finals of said tournament will take place at Battleground, with the winner going to challenge Paige for the title at WrestleMania.
- When Kurt Angle re-signed with World Wrestling Entertainment last July, it was reported that he had agreed to a two-year deal. While that is still the case, the contract is not solely for active competition in the ring. If at any point until July 2014 Angle decided to retire, he would be able to do so while remaining with the company in other roles such as a trainer or an agent. The reason that this is being brought to our attention just now is because numerous sources are reporting that Angle is considering hanging up his boots very soon. While nothing is confirmed, it is possible that we are witnessing the final run in the career of professional wrestling's only Olympic Gold Medalist. |

- AJ Styles in a WWE ring, I sure hope so especially with what I just read, I do hope AJ does show up and in WWE he ends up becoming an even bigger star here or that you push him to the moon here especially if he does show up in your diary but here is hoping he ends up keeping his TNA theme song of I Am or give him his Evil Ways theme song and push him as an Anti-Hero character like how he was in TNA now that would get him over huge here in this diary but if he does show up I can see AJ Styles feuding with the likes of Cena, Orton, Punk, Bryan, Angle, Jericho even, Ambrose, or even Lesnar or even Batista or even the COO himself Triple H
- Punk as WWE Champion heading into Mania almost means guaranteed that Punk will probably lose the WWE Championship at Mania considering his injuries and what not, perfect place for Punk to drop it especially if he is not healed up by then but as for Paige being the WWE Divas Champion heading into Mania I personally love it and can't wait to see who she defends her title against at MetLife Stadium
- As for Angle whether he retires here in your diary or not, Angle is a first ballot WWE Hall of Famer so if he retires then it needs to be done right and he needs to pass the torch to someone who then can run with it but who is worthy enough to retire Angle? Let's see there's Swagger who could benefit from it because everyone used to compare him to a young Kurt Angle and I could definitely see why and Swagger he could be pushed to the moon especially if he were to be the one to retire Angle or even Shelton Benjamin could benefit from it because of their history together in Team Angle back in the day or who else on the roster could benefit? Either way Angle I can see him as a headliner for his own WWE Hall of Fame class should you retire him but who would be the one to induct him though?

Hell I could even see AJ Styles feuding with the Wyatt Family believe it or not if he does manage to show up or even an AJ Styles/Ryback feud or even an AJ Styles/Rock feud or an AJ Styles/Wade Barrett feud either way it should be interesting to see which brand you put AJ Styles on, either RAW or Smackdown?

| January 30th, 2013 Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL NXT ArRival is live in four weeks on WWE.com!
Following the signature WWE intro, cameras scanned the audience here at Full Sail University as the commentary unit of Byron Saxton and Tony Dawson welcomed everyone to WWE NXT! Dawson reminded the viewers of Triple H's announcement last week about a free iPPV taking place in four weeks, which has now been titled, "NXT ArRival." In the main event of that event, Kassius Ohno will put the NXT Championship on the line against Sami Zayn. Tonight, Ohno and Zayn will compete in Pick Your Poison matches, the first of which will kick off NXT right now.
NON-TITLE MATCH NXT CHAMPION KASSIUS OHNO DEF. ADRIAN NEVILLE Sami Zayn's handpicked opponent for the NXT Champion turned out to be one of the brand's most exciting stars, Adrian Neville. In a match that easily could have been the main event of ArRival coming up in four weeks, the "Man That Gravity Forgot" was able to take Ohno to the limit. Neville looked to be climbing onto the top rope for the Red Arrow towards the end of the bout, but Ohno rolled out of the way before Neville could leap. He then stepped down onto the ring apron, waiting for Ohno to get to his feet. As Neville was springboarding off of the top rope, Ohno caught him with a Roaring Elbow in mid-air! Neville was down and out as Ohno covered him to score the victory.
The audience gave a reaction of mostly boos as Kassius Ohno was handed back the NXT Championship after a triumphant effort. The commentary duo put over Adrian Neville's performance, though it was not enough to get past the champion. Sami Zayn was shown watching from the backstage area, knowing that later tonight, it will be his turn to compete in the Pick Your Poison challenge. Who will Ohno choose as Zayn's opponent?
At this time, the RAW Rebound aired. After successfully defeating Triple H in a No Holds Barred match at the Royal Rumble, Bray Wyatt and the rest of his family set their sights on two new targets - The Rock and John Cena. After attacking both Rock and Cena, the two would call out The Wyatt Family at the conclusion of the broadcast. Triple H joined the two megastars as he was still looking for revenge against Wyatt. Their challenge was answered as Wyatt, Kane, Rowan and Harper were able to get the upper hand until RAW General Manager, Ric Flair, made his return one month after being the victim of a Wyatt Family attack himself. Flair, Hunter, Rock and Cena managed to clean house before the "King of Kings" made a monstrous announcement. At Battleground in three weeks, he, The Rock, John Cena and Ric Flair will team up to take on all four members of The Wyatt Family in a WarGames match!
Backstage, NXT Champion Kassius Ohno was shown walking towards the locker room area when he was stopped by Renee Young. She asked the champion if he could perhaps give the NXT Universe a bit of insight as to who he has chosen as Sami Zayn's opponent for tonight. "......All you and everyone else need to know is that it's someone who I know better than anyone else in this industry," said "That Young Knockout Kid."
NON-TITLE MATCH NXT WOMEN'S CHAMPION EMMA DEF. SASHA BANKS Two weeks after capturing the NXT Women's Championship, Emma competed in her first match as the champion. While both competitors were fan favorites, the NXT Universe was more in favor of the first-ever NXT Women's Champion. After hitting Banks with a Necbreaker, Emma was able to apply the Emma Lock for the submission victory.
The crowd popped as Emma was handed back her NXT Women's Championship following a successful outing in her first match as the champion. Sasha Banks sat on her knees as she looked to be distraught, but Emma extended her hand out. Sasha showed a bit of hesitation, but ultimately, she accepted the handshake.
Backstage, Devin Taylor was shown standing by with the NXT Tag Team Champions, Corey Graves and Jake Carter. The two stepped into the interview set as Taylor asked for their thoughts on the competition in the tag team division going forward. "What competition?" asked Graves before saying that there doesn't seem to by any for them at the moment. "Here's what we're going to do. Next week, we're issuing an open challenge to any tag team out there who wants the chance to prove themselves. It's not like they're gonna win, though. This is more so because we're bored," said Carter before he and Graves left the interview.
Returning to NXT, Xavier Woods was shown making his entrance as he was set to compete against Alex Riley, who has displayed a much different attitude as of late. As Woods waited in the ring, a woman in a cheerleader outfit made her way out to the stage, a nameplate graphic revealing her name as Alexa Bliss. "Give me a G! Give me an O! Give me the name of the greatest superstar WWE history! Put it all together and what does it spell? GO RILEY!" she said ecstatically. Riley then made his way out to the stage as the "Varsity Villain" was set for action on NXT.
ALEX RILEY W/ ALEXA BLISS DEF. XAVIER WOODS Despite having Alexa Bliss cheering him on, Alex Riley found himself in trouble several times throughout the match as Xavier Woods proved to be a great obstacle. As Woods was getting set for the Honor Roll, Bliss stepped onto the ring apron and continued to cheer on A-Ry. The official was caught up with this while Riley planted Woods with an Impaler DDT to get the victory.
The Full Sail Audience showered Alex Riley and Alexa Bliss with boos as the two celebrated in the ring. Riley made his way up the entrance ramp while Bliss followed him and continued to cheer, A-Ry picking up an impressive victory here on NXT.
Backstage, Sasha Banks was shown walking towards the parking lot area when Raquel Diaz and Vickie Guerrero stopped her. "Excuse me," said Vickie as they were able to get Banks' attention. Raquel asked Banks if she was serious. "Emma humiliates you in the middle of that ring, and what do you do? You shake her hand. Pathetic," said Raquel. Banks responded by asking what else was she supposed to do. "Emma beat me fair and square. That's a loss that I have to own up to," said Banks. "No, you don't have to own up to it. What you should have done was smack Emma's hand away and take out your frustrations on her, because I know that you have a lot of that piled up, Sasha. You're hardly ever on NXT. You're not promoted. You're not in the intro of the show. Face it, Sasha. Your career is on its way to being dead before it begins...." said Raquel before she added on to her statement. "......Unless you do something about it," she said. "What are you trying to get at?" asked Banks before Raquel and Vickie pulled her aside.
Cutting to another camera, Briley Pierce was standing by with "Prince Pretty," Tyler Breeze. Breeze entered the scene looking incredibly frustrated. When Pierce asked why he requested this interview time, Breeze said that there's been a crime in the NXT locker room. "Last week, the NXT Divas were asked who their believed the most handsome NXT superstar is. Obviously, it's me. However, those uggos decided otherwise and voted for Adam Cole!" said the infuriated Breeze. "Adam Cole.....you're joking. Look at me! I'm 'Prince Pretty!' No one compares!" he continued to rant before saying that next week, he challenges Cole to a one on one match. "Can't be gorgeous when your face is disfigured," said Breeze.
Following the commercial break, Alex Riley and Alexa Bliss were shown walking backstage following Riley's victory moments ago. As the two were talking, they were approached by Xavier Woods. Riley and Bliss had looks of disgust on their faces as Woods attempted to congratulate them. "I don't necessarily agree with the tactics, bu a win is a win, so congratulations, Riley. Along with finishing up school and getting my PhD, that was my toughest challenge to date," said Woods. "Wait, you're still in school?" asked Riley before Woods answered his question. ".........What a nerd!" said Riley as he and Bliss both laughed at Woods before continuing on.
Returning to the Full Sail Arena for NXT, William Regal was shown in the ring as he received a warm reception from the audience. Regal said that last week, a bit of unexpected events occurred when he tried to address the NXT Universe. "Kenneth Cameron, a fellow Englishman who I helped get to the WWE, interrupted me and accused me being a shell of my former self. Kenneth, I'd like for you to come down to the ring at this time so you and I can settle whatever issues we may have," said Regal. A bit of time passed before Cameron made his way down to the ring to a negative response from the NXT Universe. Once in the ring, Regal asked him to repeat what he said last week. "If you must hear it again, I said that you're nothing anymore, Regal. At one point, you were the pride of England. The toughest man to make his way across the pond and become a WWE superstar. But now, you're a joke. You come out here in a suit, calling the action every week on NXT and refer to other guys as the future of this industry, something that you were at one point." Cameron then said that the only way he believes that he can put some sense back into Regal is to beat him a pulp. "Cameron, I'm retired now. My match against Kassius Ohno three weeks ago was the final of my career. I am sorry, but I won't be stepping through the ropes with my boots on again," he said. Regal then attempted to leave the ring, but he was struck from behind by Cameron. Regal laid on the mat as Cameron backed into a corner, shouting at him maniacally to get to his feet. Suddenly, another Englishman, Oliver Grey, ran down to the ring. Cameron quickly exited as Grey tended to Regal. The announce team reminded everyone that the last time we saw Grey, Regal came to his aid as he was being attacked by Kassius Ohno back on the August 8th edition of NXT. Grey assisted Regal to his feet as the two stared down Kenneth Cameron.
Backstage, Sami Zayn was shown walking down a corridor. He meets Kassius Ohno's handpicked opponent, next!
A promo was shown for NXT ArRival, live February 27th on WWE.com.
Returning to NXT on ION Television, a graphic was shown for a huge match set for next week as Richie Steamboat takes on Bo Rotundo. Following that, the theme song of Sami Zayn hit as the #1 contender made his way out to a huge response. Earlier in the evening, NXT Champion Kassius Ohno managed to defeat Zayn's handpicked opponent, Adrian Neville. Now, it was time for Zayn to go in against the unknown. Up until this point, all we knew that was Zayn's opponent was someone who Ohno "knows better than anyone else....."
ANTONIO CESARO DEF. SAMI ZAYN The NXT Universe came unglued once the theme of SmackDown superstar, Antonio Cesaro, hit. The God's Gifts member and Sami Zayn put on perhaps the best television match in NXT history, garnering "Match of the Year" chants from the audience. Zayn was forced to dig deeper into his arsenal, pulling out maneuvers that we had not seen from him yet such as a Tornado DDT following a leap between the second and first turnbuckles. As Zayn was looking for the Helluva Kick, Cesaro caught him with a vicious Lariat. The "Swiss Superman" then set him up for the Neutralizer, but Zayn was able to counter it into a pinning predicament. Cesaro kicked out before Zayn delivered a Hurricanrana into the corner. Zayn then attempted to hit a Tornado DDT, but Cesaro was able to use his strength to prevent it and toss Zayn into the air! Cesaro caught him with the Swiss Death Uppercut, following it up with the Neutralizer to get the victory.
A mixed reaction emerged for Antonio Cesaro as he stood to his feet following a incredibly hard-fought victory. The "Match of the Year" chant continued as the crowd gave both Cesaro and Sami Zayn a standing ovation. Cesaro made his way up the entrance ramp as NXT Champion Kassius Ohno marched down to the ring, the two stopping and coming face-to-face. They both smiled before continuing on. Ohno stepped into the ring, grabbing Zayn's head and practically shoving the NXT Title into his face. This will never be yours!" he shouted to Zayn as NXT came to a close.

Either way now that NXT is out of the way I can't wait until Smackdown and why? To see the 2013 Royal Rumble Match winner Daniel Bryan's celebration considering he made history by winning the Royal Rumble Match from the #1 position becoming only the 3rd man to do that and also making history outlasting Rey's time of 62 minutes by lasting 65 minutes but also I can't wait to see Kurt Angle's return to Smackdown but also seeing God's Gifts' reactions to Kurt Angle being back but also seeing Randy Orton's reaction to not winning the Rumble

Great NXT which would have been bookended by 2 superb matches. Was always going to be Cesaro. As a show it felt quite long. Like that your getting behind Riley again. Breeze's promo was well done and is a perfect reason for Breeze to go after Cole, Regal/Cameron/Grey is interesting because I don't see Regal being a mentor to Grey.
Check out TNA 02-03 when you get a chance

I'm so lazy that I let Raw go by without replying? Shame on me. Awesome opening segment to have CM Punk come out and brag and say that Brock didn't save his title reign. No defenses until WrestleMania is something I could see CM Punk doing. Having The Rock interrupt is great and Punk calling him out on his failures was also great. I'll admit, the Wyatts targeting The Rock is fresh and cool. I was wondering what you had planned for Derrick Bateman next and a feud leading to a probable United States Title run sounds good. I would like to see The Usos get a Tag Team Title shot down the line, but I do love Wrestling Royalty's reign. You've done a good job having them dominate their reign but keeping the division strong. Roman Reigns leaving Brad Maddox? Face turn maybe? Divas Championship Number One Contender's Tournament is a great move as you continue to book the Divas division excellently. Kaitlyn advancing makes the most sense. AJ Lee vs. Tamina should be a fun Tournament match. I sense the Wyatts against The Rock, John Cena and Triple H at WrestleMania. Great segment between Brock Lesnar and Wade Barrett, I'd like to see them wrestle at WrestleMania, it would be highly original. Seth Rollins calling Roman Reigns selfish? Maybe a rivalry between them. Rusev win was obvious and I like his feud with Ryback. Having Reigns/Rollins end in a DQ was smart and Reigns becoming a huge face will do wonders for him. Ooh, I was wrong about the Wyatt match at WrestleMania, but War Games against HHH, Rock, Cena and Flair is awesome. There are like a billion World Titles between them. Great Raw.
Small note, but I love that you put the GI Joe Retaliation logo on your match graphics. Makes it more official. Dig that you're using the NXT ArRival name. Opening with the Champion is smart, and Sami Zayn choosing Adrian Neville is cool. Would've enjoyed that match, but Kassius Ohno winning was clear. Judging by Ohno's promo, I assume Zayn will face Antonio Cesaro. Emma winning was the right move, surprised by the handshake after the match. Wonder if you're going to try a face turn of sorts for the Boss. Love me some Sasha Banks though. Wonder who will answer Graves and Carter's open challenge. I won't lie, I always thought the Varsity Villain character was cool and I had an idea to give him a cheerleader in my '08-'10. Alexa Bliss would make a hot cheerleader. Nice to see a Riley push of sorts. Ooh, Banks aligning with Vickie and Raquel could be interesting. Tyler Breeze vs. Adam Cole will be awesome and I like how it was built from Cole getting voted as the most handsome NXT Superstar. The nerd remark fit the Riley character so well. Oliver Grey being aligned with William Regal could be big for him. Wise to go with Cesaro/Zayn as it's always a match of the year candidate and this was a smart way to integrate it into your sim. Cesaro winning was the way to go as he's a big part of the main roster. Awesome show and I can't wait for ArRival.

| February 1st, 2013 Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA Battleground is live in three weeks on Pay-Per-View!
Following the signature intro, a video package was shown that highlighted Daniel Bryan's road to the Royal Rumble match this past Sunday. After failing to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, Bryan was forced to enter the Rumble match as the number one entrant by the former temporary SmackDown General Manager, John Bradshaw Layfield. "I will win the Royal Rumble," was the quote from Bryan that we heard as the video showed clips of his battle throughout the match. After sixty-five minutes of hell, Bryan managed to shock the entire world by coming out on top. Daniel Bryan is on his way to the main event of WrestleMania XXIX!
Cutting to the Valley View Casino Center, the entrance theme of Daniel Bryan as the crowd erupted. The winner of the 2013 Royal Rumble match made his way out to the stage as the audience thunderously chanted "Yes!" Bryan joined them in the chant as he made his way down to the ring, staring at the WrestleMania sign. Once in the ring, Bryan said that throughout his entire life, people have told him that he is not capable of certain things. "People always told me that I could never become a professional wrestler due to my size. Then, they told me that I would never make it to the WWE. Even after I became the World Heavyweight Champion last year at WrestleMania, people still doubted me. As of late, my biggest critic has been John Bradshaw Layfield," said Bryan as the crowd booed at the mention of him. "Bradshaw and God's Gifts did everything that they could to make sure that I never came anywhere near the mountain top again. I was named the number one entrant into the Royal Rumble match because from that position, they believed that there was no way in hell that I would win. I came out here last week and said that I would prove them wrong and throw all of this back into their faces. And did I? Yes! Yes! Yes!" said Bryan before allowing the audience to chant along with him for a second. "I did it. I won the Royal Rumble match. I became the third man in history to do so from the number one entry position, and I also set a new all-time record. However, this is only the beginning. I am announcing right now that at WrestleMania XXIX, I will make life hell for all God's Gifts when I become the new World Heavyweight Champion!" shouted Bryan as we now know that on April 7th, he will be challenging for SmackDown's richest prize.
As Bryan was set to leave the ring, the theme song of John Bradshaw Layfield hit as he and God's Gifts made their way down to ringside, all looking infuriated after an unsuccessful Royal Rumble event. Bradshaw spoke first, saying that he doesn't believe in miracles. "What happened on Sunday wasn't a miracle, but rather the biggest fluke in the history of sports entertainment. Twenty-nine other man, including all four that you see before you, somehow couldn't get the job done. Daniel, don't become too comfortable with the ridiculous idea that you're going to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, because God's Gifts has the ability to make sure that doesn't happen," said Bradshaw before the four members of the faction stepped into the ring. Rhodes, Cesaro, Del Rio and Sandow all had Bryan cornered as things didn't look good for the Royal Rumble winner. Suddenly, WWE Tag Team Champions Wrestling Royalty ran down to the ring. God's Gifts turned their attention to Joe Hennig and Ted DiBiase, which allowed Bryan to fight back. However, the numbers soon caught up to Bryan and Wrestling Royalty. However, the tide soon changed when the entrance music of Kurt Angle hit. The WWE Universe unglued as Angle marched out onto the SmackDown stage for the first time since November. As soon as Angle slid into the ring, Cody Rhodes bolted out and hopped over the barricade, trying t avoid the man whose career he made an attempt on back at Survivor Series. Bryan, Angle, Hennig and DiBiase were able to clean house as the crowd continued to wild for the four faces. Bradshaw and the rest of God's Gifts joined Rhodes in the stands when SmackDown General Manager Edge made his way out to the stage. He said that this entire rivalry between God's Gifts and the world has been going on for too long, and it's time to bring things to an end on the Road to WrestleMania. "So here's how we're going to settle things. At Battleground, God's Gifts will take on Daniel Bryan, Wrestling Royalty and Kurt Angle in a WarGames match!" said Edge as the audience roared for the announcement. A second WarGames match has been made for Battleground, and it will bring this entire rivalry to a definitive end! Bradshaw, Rhodes, Del Rio, Cesaro and Sandow were all livid while Bryan, Angle, Hennig and DiBiase lead the WWE Universe in a "Yes!" chant.
Returning to Friday Night SmackDown, a recap of the opening segment was shown as Edge announced a WarGames match for Battleground. It will be Cody Rhodes, Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow and Antonio Cesaro competing against Kurt Angle, WWE Tag Team Champions Wrestling Royalty, and the 2013 Royal Rumble winner, Daniel Bryan. Three of those men will be in action later tonight. Kurt Angle makes his return to SmackDown against God's Gifts member, Alberto Del Rio. Plus, Daniel Bryan takes on a man who is more than ticked off over the result of the Royal Rumble match, Randy Orton.
INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP DEAN AMBROSE DEF. TYSON KIDD After recent impressive showings here on SmackDown, Tyson Kidd was granted a huge opportunity against Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental Championship. After failing to live up to his word and win the Royal Rumble match, Ambrose was determined to get back on track. Kidd, however, had the WWE Universe on his side as he picked up a few near falls. As Kidd was attempting to deliver a Tiger Driver, Ambrose managed to fight his way out of it and hit an Exploder Suplex into a corner. Kidd staggered to his feet as Ambrose caught him with a Knee Trembler to pick up the victory.
The audience booed relentlessly as Dean Ambrose rolled out of the ring, retrieving his Intercontinental Championship from ringside. Ambrose, who sported a bit of blood under his chin, walked up the entrance ramp while raising the gold high in the air. After scoring a pinfall victory over the World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler last week, and this successful title defense here tonight, Dean Ambrose seems to be making a legitimate case to why he may be the future of SmackDown.
Returning to SmackDown, Renee Young was shown standing by with the "Viper," Randy Orton. Orton stepped onto the set as the crowd gave him a less-than warm reception. Orton was asked for this thoughts heading into his match tonight against the Royal Rumble winner, Daniel Bryan. He said that he isn't one to agree with John Bradshaw Layfield on anything, but he said it best earlier in the evening. "Daniel Bryan's victory at the Royal Rumble was the biggest fluke in the history of sports entertainment. The Royal Rumble match was mine for the taking. I should be on my way to the main event of WrestleMania. If that can't happen now, then I will be more than glad to make sure that Bryan is not physically capable of making it to April 7th," said Orton.
DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERS TOURNAMENT QUARTER-FINALS MATCH NATALYA DEF. BRIE BELLA The second match in the #1 contenders tournament that began this past Monday on RAW. Just like on Monday, Divas Champion Paige sat at ringside to watch the tournament unfold. Brie Bella was forced to go in alone as her sister, Nikki, was once again in a meeting with the E! Network regarding Total Divas. Brie managed to put up a valiant effort, but ultimately, she was forced to submit to the Sharpshooter.
Natalya released the Sharpshooter that she had on Brie Bella as she celebrated her victory, keeping her eyes locked on the Divas Champion, Paige. The updated bracket for the tournament was shown as we now have our first Semi-Finals match set, pitting Natalya against Kaitlyn. Coming up this Monday on RAW, however, the Quarter-Finals continue when AJ Lee goes one on one with Tamina!
A graphic was shown for tonight's main event of Kurt Angle versus Alberto Del Rio. Coming up next, however, Daniel Bryan is in action against the "Viper," Randy Orton!
A promo was shown for this Monday's edition of RAW. After the announcement of the WarGames match for Battleground, both teams will be represented when John Cena goes one-on-one with Bray Wyatt! RAW, live next Monday on USA!
DANIEL BRYAN DEF. RANDY ORTON A fantastic way to round out the first hour as Daniel Bryan was on a quest to prove all of his critics wrong on the Road to WrestleMania. Randy Orton, who defeated Bryan last year to win the World Heavyweight Championship at Over the Limit, punished the 2013 Royal Rumble winner before attempting to finish him off with a Punt Kick. As he was running towards him, however, Bryan was able to quickly get to his feet and deliver the Busaiku Knee! He then grabbed Orton and applied the Yes Lock! The "Viper" tried to fight the pain, but as he neared the ropes, Bryan pulled him back into the center of the ring and reapplied the hold! There was nowhere for Orton to run as he submitted!
The WWE Universe members here in San Diego erupted as Daniel Bryan stood to his feet, celebrating a huge victory here on SmackDown. The 2013 Royal Rumble winner shouted "Yes!" repeatedly as he made his way up the entrance ramp, staring back at the WrestleMania XXIX sign. Bryan is set for a World Heavyweight Championship match on the grandest stage of them all, but before he can get there, he must go to war with God's Gifts at Battleground.
Backstage, Matt Striker was standing by with Kurt Angle. Striker asked the Olympic Gold Medalist for insight as to what was going through his mind during the time between Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble. Angle said that there were several different things running through his head. "My health, my family, whether or not I would able to return. It was a scary time for me, and it was all thanks to one man. Cody Rhodes not only tried to end my career, but he tried to make sure that I would never be the same again. My wife gave birth last month, and our new daughter was a huge inspiration for me to keep on fighting. I made my return at the Royal Rumble with one thing in mind, and that was revenge against Rhodes. If I have to go through all of God's Gifts to get to him, then so be it. Daniel Bryan, Wrestling Royalty and I are ready for WarGames at Battleground. Tonight, however, I will use Alberto Del Rio to send a message to Rhodes," said Angle.
Returning to SmackDown, Randy Orton was shown still in the ring following a loss to the 2013 Royal Rumble winner, Daniel Bryan. The audience showered Orton with boos and chants of "You tapped out!" as he took a microphone, telling the WWE Universe to sit down and shut up because he has a few things to say. "The only thing that the world should have been talking about after Sunday was me. Instead, I have heard nothing but talk about people like Daniel Bryan, The Rock, Roman Reigns, Kurt Angle, Bray Wyatt, but there is one person who people are talking about that has irritated me like no one else. I'm talking about a man who I spent years on the road with, and at one point, I considered him a friend. Dave Batista," said Orton as the audience popped for the mention of the "Animal." Orton said that even before the Royal Rumble match, the WWE Universe was buzzing about the news regarding Batista's return. "Instantly, Dave took all of the attention off of me and put it on himself like the selfish clown that he is. He leaves for three years and all of a sudden thinks that he can just waltz right back onto SmackDown and take everything?" said Orton. He then said that if he can't be World Heavyweight Champion or headline WrestleMania, then he wants nothing more than to make sure that Batista can't either. "Dave Batista is going to wish that he stayed in Hollywood because at Battleground, I will tame the 'Animal.'" Orton dropped his microphone as he made his way out of the ring, officially challenging Batista to a match at Battleground in three weeks.
A promo was shown for WrestleMania XXIX. The greatest spectacle in sports entertainment history is sixty-five days away!
NON-TITLE MATCH WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION DOLPH ZIGGLER DEF. JTG The audience was red hot for the World Heavyweight Champion, who was coming off of a successful title defense against Cody Rhodes this past Sunday at the Royal Rumble. With God's Gifts seemingly behind him, Dolph Ziggler was able to remain focused on the task at hand here tonight. When JTG looked to be picking up a bit of momentum, he was struck with a Superkick. He bounced front-first off of the ropes, which allowed the "Show Off" to plant him with the Zig Zag to pick up the victory.
The crowd popped for Dolph Ziggler as he stood to his feet, being handed back the World Heavyweight Championship. He raised it high in the air while the commentators noted that we could very well be looking at the man who will defend the title against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania XXIX. However, there was someone who believed otherwise. The entrance music of Dean Ambrose hit as the Intercontinental Champion made his way down to the ring. The "Diamond in the Rough" took a microphone as he told Ziggler that there is no reason for him to be celebrating. "Just because you have the World Heavyweight Championship around your waist right now doesn't mean that you're going to have it when WrestleMania rolls around. You've probably tried to forget the events of last week, but allow me to remind you of them, Dolph. I beat you one, two, three in the middle of this ring! I showed up the 'Show Off.' Now, it's time for me to do it again. Dolph, you're going to give me what I have earned, and that is a World Heavyweight Championship match at Battleground," said Ambrose. Ziggler responded by saying that at a time where every superstar in the locker room is knocking on the door of opportunity, he can't deny that Ambrose has earned a title shot. "You're the Intercontinental Champion, you made an impact in the Royal Rumble match, and you beat me on one of my off nights, which is still pretty impressive. You want me at Battleground for the World Heavyweight Title? You're one," said Ziggler. He extended his hand out, but Ambrose simply laughed at him before turning around. Ziggler wouldn't allow Ambrose to walk away, however, as he delivered a Zig Zag! The Intercontinental Champion was motionless on the canvas as Ziggler exited the ring, making a statement to his challenge for Battleground.
A video package was shown for SmackDown's newest star, Big E Langston. This past Sunday at the Royal Rumble, Langston made his main-roster debut in huge fashion by eliminated the Big Show from the Royal Rumble match. Next week, Langston will be in action here on SmackDown!
LOS MATADORES W/ EL TORITO DEF. DREW MCINTYRE AND JINDER MAHAL A brand new tag team hit the scene here tonight as Diego and Fernando, known collectively as Los Matadores, made their debut. With their mascot, El Torito, in their corner, the new duo managed to make a great first impression on the WWE Universe after hitting Jinder Mahal with a Double Samoan Drop to pick up the victory.
Los Matadores received a decent pop from the WWE Universe as El Torito joined them in celebration. Just like on RAW, the commentary unit noted that the tag team division seems to be gaining momentum just as Wrestling Royalty is on the verge of making history as the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in history. Joe Hennig and Ted DiBiase currently sit at 304 days, 332 being their target date. Los Matadores now seem to be in the running of contenders who are looking to prevent them from reaching their goal.
A graphic was shown for the upcoming main event. Kurt Angle makes his return to SmackDown to take on Alberto Del Rio, next!
A promo was shown for Battleground, live Sunday February 17th, only on Pay-Per-View!
KURT ANGLE DEF. ALBERTO DEL RIO A great match up to close things out here on SmackDown. Despite being out of action for nearly three months, Kurt Angle's performance did not seem to have taken any hits. To the surprise of the WWE Universe, there was no involvement from any of the WarGames participants. As Del Rio was attempting the Superkick, Angle was able to counter it into an Angle Slam! However, the Olympic Gold Medalist was not yet through with the "Mexican Aristocrat." As Del Rio was stirring to his feet, Angle grabbed him and planted him with a Piledriver! Angle then covered Del Rio to finally get the victory.
A huge round of applause emerged for Kurt Angle as he stood to his feet following his first match back on SmackDown. He was able to seize the victory in emphatic fashion, delivering the maneuver that Cody Rhodes used in an attempt to end his career back at Survivor Series. "Your ass is mine, Rhodes!" said Angle to the camera as he posed for the audience. Angle will have the opportunity to get his revenge on Rhodes, as will Daniel Bryan and Wrestling Royalty against all of God's Gifts, at Battleground in a WarGames match!
