I'm eligible for a phone upgrade today. I love my current phone (Droid Incredible 2) and it does everything I want, is the perfect size and has awesome battery life. It's just 3G though. So basically, the only reason I can find to upgrade to a new phone is to get 4G. VZW has 4G coverage in my area. Is it worth burning an upgrade just to get 4G or would I be better off sitting for a few months and waiting for hardware that I'm actually excited about. If I upgrade, I'm probably going to get the HTC Rezound.

Okay, it's not worth "burning" an upgrade on 4g ALONE. Esp w/ Verizon they are releasing new 4g phones it appears every other week. Example... didn't the Droid Razr just come out like 4/5 months ago with a starting contract price of $299.00... now it's $199 buy one get one free...and now it comes in like 5 colors.
Basically what I'm trying to say is "burn" your upgrade on a phone..... not 4g... since well they're all 4g now on Verizon (pretty much).

All the new phones coming out are ginormous. 4.6" screen for the Galaxy Nexus is ridiculous. I'm afraid if I don't upgrade now, I'll be stuck with just 5" phones to pick from 6 months from now.

Here's the biggest issue I see you having with LTE. You mention how your Incredible 2 has awesome battery life. LTE phones do not.

Honestly man, I just got rid of my Evo 4G because it was a gigantic piece of shit.
4G still doesn't work everywhere and the network connects/disconnects constantly, thus causing the battery life to be mediocre at best despite me being told that it'd be "more than I could use in a day."
I "downgraded" to the 3G iPhone 4S and I love it. Is it 4G? No. But it's actually faster.

Verizon's 4G LTE network is extremely fast in terms of mobile data, but it is fast in draining your battery as well. I just toggle to 3G when I'm not using it though, and it saves battery. It really depends on your area though. And in terms of the Galaxy Nexus screen being too big, I have small hands but I can reach every part of the screen just fine with one hand. The screen really isn't as big as you think it is considering they just replaced the hardware keys with soft ones. The size of the phone is relatively the same as the 4'' phones including the rezound.  |

To be fair, your 4G was Wi-Max 4G, not LTE 4G. 4G is a blanket term for different technologies (sometimes just lies) with varying speeds. T-Mobile's "4G" is HSPA+ (Faster 3G) Sprint's 4G is Wi-MAX (Not as fast as LTE but faster than HSPA+) AT&T has 4G (HSPA+) and 4G LTE (which is exactly what it says) Verizon's 4G is LTE. |

I might've pulled the trigger anyway if it was $199 and not $270. I can't speak for how consistent the 4G coverage is here since I just got the phone, but the speeds are sickeningly faster. On 3G I got 2 mbps tops. On 4G I'm getting 13-15 consistently. I'll see if the size/battery life end up being an issue. If battery life sucks so badly that I have to set the thing on 3G, then I'm taking it back. |

^^^^The Nexus is $99 for new customers only. It's $229 when added to an existing account or upgrading. $729.99 for just the phone itself.

I would not upgrade just for 4g, yes its considerably faster but like you said most of the phones are just too big. However if you do upgrade I would get the Razr Maxx, it can play a video for 18 straight hours at 50% brightness on 4g before the battery dies. No other phone can touch that.

The Razr Maxx is nice, but I put my Incredible2 on top of it, and there was space on on every single size. It's so much bigger than my regular phone. And it doesn't have a removable battery.

Razr MAXX is supposed to be very nice. The Droid Razr was so thin, putting an enormous battery inside of it with a new back case turns it into just a "thin phone" instead of a "insaney thin phone".
HTC + 4G = Where did my battery go? Make sure you get a good widget (I use Extended Settings) so you can toggle between 4G and 2/3G when you can. Helps a lot.
Galaxy Nexus is very nice. ICS looks delicious. Not a fantastic camera, but it's good enough.
Also look into a Samsung Galaxy S2.
EDIT: Skimming failure, you already got the Rezound. Good phone. Amazing screen, even better than the iPhone 4S from what I've read. If it's the same camera as my HTC Amaze, then again, better than the iPhone's. Just be careful with battery life. 4G is drinks it like Kool-Aid.
