Yeah, that was his theme, before he turned heel. Search for the match King's talking about the week prior, when Bulldog returned to beat Boss Man for the hardcore title, and you can hear, that the theme he used to return.

I personally just hated this era of Bulldog. He deserved so much more over his career and for it to end wearing nut hugger jeans and hiking boots.....Just a shame.

I personally just hated this era of Bulldog. He deserved so much more over his career and for it to end wearing nut hugger jeans and hiking boots.....Just a shame. yup. leaving for WCW was a horrific mistake for Davey Boy.understandable but basically paid a fortune and bought himself out of his contract to destroy his career. an awful pity. |

Does anyone know why he was brought back and treated in that manner? I mean blue jeans and boots? Was it punishment for leaving for WCW?
It seemed like they wanted to push him. He was even in the 6-pack match for the WWF Title. But they gave him that awful ring attire and music. Why not just have him back as his usual gimmick with the Union Jack and everthing?

Unfortinately drug problems meant that the WWE kept him out of the main event status after his six pack challenge match, woulda been good if they gave him the title. IMO the single most deserving wrestler who never got the title. I often wondered why he didnt return with his old gimmick.....or more importantly why he returned at all. Owen wanted him back and it was their plan to reform their tag team. |

I remember at the time Davey Boy had just had a horrific back injury in WCW and while he was out they released him, WWE brought him back but he was heavily using pain killers and WWE started to see him as too much of a liability for main event and he slowly drifted down the card to the point he was teaming with Mean Street Posse. I think the whole jeans and hiking boots thing was just to give him a new image to fit more with the attitude era, although it wasn't needed.

I remember at No mercy 1999 UK ppv they showed a pic of the BUlldog on the titantron and i thought he would return only to return to TV about 4 months later. Also I seem to remember he was in a wheelchair after his WCW injury is that correct?
The image didnt bother me i thought it suited him kind of as a heel. Shame he just fizzed out although he was the 7th longest lasting entrant in the 2000 rumble with a little over 15 minutes!

Yes, Bulldog injured his back on the trap door in wcw, and while in hospital got his release from WCW. When owen visited him in hospital they were excited about reforming their team in the WWE. Unfortinately by the time Bulldog had recovered and re-debuted Owen's accident had occured.

As said above, he was given the denim attire look to fit the Attitude era, as Vince thought the Union Jack look was passe
