Howdy partners,
Just got back to work today from a weekend's travel to Eugene, OR to watch the first WWE show ever at the Matthew Knight Arena. The place was completely packed and quite a hot crowd (for the most part).
01. "The Funkasaurus" Brodus Clay (with one of his girls; not sure which one is which!) pinned David Otunga after a big splash.
02. Ryback pinned JTG after what I can best describe as a modified F-5.
03. WWE Divas Champion Beth Phoenix pinned Nikki Bella (with Brie Bella) after the Glam-Slam. Beth lost her balance during the GS and slightly botched it; it didn't have near the amount of impact it normally gets. Surprisingly, there was no "Twin Magic" switch.
04. WWE World Tag Team Champions Primo & Epico (with Rosa Mendes) defeated Alex Riley & Mason Ryan when Epico pinned Riley after the Backstabber).
Eve Torres came out and basically repeated what she'd said on the untelevised (I think?) segment from last week's Smackdown!, where she'd used Zack Ryder and was planning on also using Cena, how we would all do the same, how no one in the audience could have her, etc.
05. R-Truth (with the University of Oregon's Duck mascot) pinned the Miz after the Consequence (or whatever he calls that maneuver that was used by Shelton Benjamin & MVP previously). At the beginning of the match, the Oregon Duck was distracting the Miz and challenging him to fight. John Laurinaitis came out and sent the Duck to the back, to possibly the greatest negative reaction of the night from the crowd. After the match, the Duck came back out to celebrate with R-Truth.
Intermission
06. WWE United States Champion Jack Swagger defeated Santino Marella by submission with the ankle lock. Swagger also got a lot of heat by making the O.S.U. (Oregon State University) letters with his arms during the match.
07. Chris Jericho pinned Kofi Kingston after the Codebreaker.
08. WWE Champion CM Punk defeated Kane and Dolph Ziggler in a triple-threat match by pinning Ziggler after the Go-To-Sleep. Before the match John Laurinaitis and David Otunga came out. Laurinaitis announced that due to the nature of the triple-threat match, they would assign a special enforcer referee (in addition to Scott Armstrong). Otunga announced that it would be Chris Jericho. During the match, Armstrong was knocked from the ring, and Punk applied the Anaconda Vise to Ziggler, which forced him to tap out. Jericho refused to count the submission, and hit the Codebreaker on Punk. He pulled Ziggler onto Punk and began the three-count, but Punk kicked out at two. Punk recovered and knocked Jericho out of the ring, hit the GTS on Ziggler and pinned him just as Armstrong returned to the ring.
