Saw it on Twitter a few minutes ago. I'm devastated. Gonna have to stick on The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees tonight, one of my favourite albums.

Never really listened to their music but I did watch an interesting documentary a few years ago on TV once, but still...
R.I.P Davy
EDIT: Just listening to some of The Monkees songs, they're really good - and some of these songs are usually on ads.

^ I agree. I only wish Jann Wenner would stop being such a douche & induct them into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame already.
This is really sad news. I saw them in 1987 for the 20th anniversary tour. I was supposed to see them last September for the 45th anniversary tour, but it was cancelled.
I never thought he'd be the first Monkee to pass away. How the hell does Keith Richards outlive Davy Jones?!
I saw him at Chiller Theatre in Parsippany a few years ago. He had one of the longest lines of all the celebrities there. Goes to show you that even though critics called The Monkees a "flash in the pan", he still had a loyal following.
In any event, rest peacefully, Davy. May the earth lie lightly on your bones.

This is horrible news...I think he's been great in everything he's been in and he was awesome in concert. I just wonder if drugs were somehow involved. I wouldn't rule it out with those rumors of Dolenz being in rehab a few months back.

^ I don't think it was drugs. From what I heard, the 2nd leg of 45th anniversary tour was because Micky went to rehab for alcohol.

RIP. I grew up listening to the Monkees and used to love the show when it was on Nickelodeon. His voice was filled with that sweet sorrow and joy. He always had an upbeat and positive way about him. He made a daydream believer out of me.
