DJKnightRida and I did 2 of the 3 house shows on the MD/VA loop this weekend. TNA continues to prove how dominant of a house show they have over anything WWE has or will do. Just an amazing time with one small hang up.....a ROBBERY! More on that.
The day actually started off with a surprising text from Jeff Hardy. He told me he brought me something on tour for my collection. So I couldnt wait to get to the venue.
Started the tour on Saturday in Hagerstown, MD. Terrible venue. Old school theater, like Reading but about half the size. Place was JAM PACKED!!! They claimed a sell out, but the last sections in the top had about 3 empty rows. Could be people that didnt show, pick up comps or whatever. This was the worst set of seats we have ever had. We initially were supposed to be comped, but the theater lost the comp sheet and we had to purchase tickets in order not to miss the Hardy Party. Luckily once the error was corrected, the theater did the right thing and refunded us the money. PHEW!
For the first time, TNA did not do an intermission, start and end of show signing due to the confined space. They also sold NO backstage passes except their special TNA Belt deal. $375 for the replica belt, brown bag special with 4 dvds, Impact Shirt and a LOTR figure, the Hardy Party 2 pack and the old 2011 program and a backstage pass. There were 9 available for sale and they sold instantly out. Crazy! But this package also allows 4 people backstage instead of the normal 2.
Once inside we went to the Hardy Party which was Jeff and AJ. I had nothing for AJ, but got my Final Resolution 2005 poster signed by Jeff. Jeff asked me to hang around after he did the in ring photos and cleared it with TNA security. So I got my poster done and went to take my seat. We went up stairs and sat in the very last row all by ourselves until one other dude rolled up and at the end of the row from us. Right behind our seats was some space that you could actually put stuff. So we thought we could take our hoodies off and hide our figures, posters, etc while we went backstage since we already knew it would be cramped. I left my newly signed poster and my Hardy 2 Pack under my hoodie. DJKNightRida left the RSC Ex. Jeff Hardy figure and his Hardy 2 pack as well. We joked that if we return and that one dude was gone...so was our stuff. Turns out joke is on us. So we head downstairs at intermission and couldnt be gone for more than 20-25mins. Backstage was Samoa Joe, Magnus, Mickie James, Velvet Sky, Daniels and Kaz. It was more cramped than we thought. It was a damn hall way they were in that couldnt fit 2 people side by side. There was a stretch of the hall, where the ceiling became so low that DJ and I had to bend our back over to just get through. I got a few signatures on my Lockdown poster I have been working on and also got Velvet to sign a photo I took of her from Reading, PA that had Earl Hebner sneaking a peak at her ass. She loved the photo and had retweeted it to her followers last month, so it was a treat to see in person.
We come back up and see that one dude is gone now and DJ panics. We get to our seats and low and behold....YUP....our crap is gone. He left our hoodies, but took our figures and my poster. I've BEEN ROBBED!!!! We were pretty shocked. We were basically up there alone, very dark and no one behind us to see what we had hidden. Well...lesson learned. Tough one too....it took me 6 years to find that Final Resolution poster.
I headed down stairs to get a drink and noticed they had a pretty cool Hagerstown mini show poster. I always like these....especially the newer ones. The other one I have is Richmond, VA that I went to and its almost completely done...missing Matt Hardy and The Pope on it. Its the same one that I have posted that Jeff Hardy put his artistic touch too. I asked them if I could have the one in the window and they said probably not but they will check with management. Well....a few mins later management actually had an extra in pristine mint shape and gave it to me! AWESOME!! Wont replace what I lost, but gave me something new to work on and I really liked the design. So went back up to my seat and ran into that one dude we thought stole our stuff. Well, I confronted him. He denied it and I had no proof. Not much I can do. We spent the rest of the show wandering around the theater and just talking to a few of the staff that we know at TNA recounting our crime. Once the show was over, we hung around till the photos were done and were one of the last ones up for the Hardy/Storm in ring photo, which turned out really well. So well in fact, I decided to order the 8x10 digital copy for $10. Yeah...harsh.
So after they were done, Jeff said he would be right back and headed back into the locker room. I had my in ring used James Storm beer bottle I got from Storm last month in Reading and Storm was happy to sign it. Got it done in white paint and I think it turned out really well. Its inscribed Beer Hunter. So Jeff comes back out and has his in ring worn hoodie he wore at BFG 2011 in his return to TNA. This hoodie has been worn on several episodes of Impact and in WWE, but Jeff said thats most recent event that he can remember. He offered to sign it, but I wanted to get one of the Deco Paints used for clothing. They actually make them and they work REALLY well. So now I have this hoodie to add to my in ring used collection. My Jeff Hardy wall is truly running out of room. I will need to start taking some other stuff down just to make room for this. Jeff asked us what we thought about his zombie eyelid painted eyes and we thought they were cool. So we got a pic with him....one with his eyes...one with zombie eyelids. Pretty cool.
Hagerstown was in the books and it was onto Charlottesville, VA. To start the morning, I hit up AC Moore and snagged a flourescent green Deco Paint clothing marker and off we went to Charlottesville on the campus of UVA. This time our seats were better, 4th row on the floor. But we ended up not sitting there and moved into the first section off the floor for a better view, better pictures and more space. Once agian they did the 9 belt deal and they sold out right away. Several people were turned away. Hardy Party now included Samoa Joe tonight, so we got that. Headed down to the meet and greet and found Eric Young, Angelina Love, Crimson, ODB, Matt Morgan, Robbie E, Robbie T and Alex Shelley there. Got most of them on my TNA turnbuckle as I did not have them yet. Got ODB in my 2009 program...which she is one of the very few I was missing. And got Morgan on my TNA Richmond poster that I needed to knock 1 of the last 3 names from. So it worked out pretty well.
Once meet and greet was over, we got lined up for the Hardy Party. Jeff, AJ and Joe were all seated at the tables. Jeff drew a cartoon picture on the table in sharpie near AJ, which AJ ended up writing a note to make sure he was not blamed...on the table in sharpie. LOL! Got Jeff to sign an entrance photo from BFG 2011 of him wearing that very hoodie. I wanted to get the hoodie signed next but security thought it was gonna take too much time. I think Ronnie recognizes now that I might be awhile. He was really cool and asked if we minded waiting till the line was down and asked Jeff he minded taking care of me once everyone was done. We both were happy to comply. Got AJ on my Hagerstown poster and Joe on it as well. Ronnie had us wait behind so arena security didnt throw us out. Once the line was done, he told us to have at it. Jeff signed the hoodie, inscribed it with BFG 2011 and we were done.
We left and went to our seats awaiting the show to begin. We were crammed like sardines and figured we should just leave and head to some open space. We went to the first section off the floor and went up about a dozen rows and sat there. Centered and a great view. Really liked UVA for that. I got some really good photos throughout the night, so I was happy about that. Security was super tight there and they tried to tell people they couldnt use flash photography, even though TNA specifically announces before the show you can all night long. I was lucky to get my SLR camera in. Once intermission came around, we made sure to take all our crap with us to not be victimized twice. Backstage had Gail Kim, Bobby Roode, Bully Ray, Magnus, Daniels and Kaz. Got Gail on the turnbuckle, Roode on the Hagerstown poster, Magnus on the turnbuckle and Daniels on an 8x10. Good backstage overall....just I didnt have much for people. Didnt bring the WWE E....otherwise could have added 2 names to it.
Back to our seats we went and finished out the show. Really good show over all. Once again, TNA shows are a lot fun from the matches and the interaction. Storm was pretty much the only person who did not sign in any official capacity on that tour. That sucked. But I was lucky enough to get him the night before and then once again in VA. We waited till the end of the line for the in ring photo and then got in there. Asked Jeff about doing a silly intellectually- disabled face photo and he was down. We didnt think Storm would do it, but Jeff helped sell it. Storm seemed like he would have done it anyway. He thought it was funny too. So we did it and it turned out awesome. I once again spent $10 and had one emailed to me. Want to get both signed cuz they turned out so well.
I had one last major want done and that was my picture from Reading where Storm smashed Angle's face into my shoe. Once he was done, I caught his eye and he was more than happy to sign one for me. He asked what the
is this? I told him about it from Reading and he was like....how did you capture it perfect like that? I told him dumb luck. He thought it was too funny. He signed and then wrote a note to Kurt Angle on it...."Kurt, Sorry About Your DAMN Head!" Now I need to get Kurt on it. LOL!
And that was it. Another successful tour in the bag. TNA showed us an amazing time. We had a blast, minus the theft. Below are some shots of the VA show I took and pics of the loot.
