Mods, please move this to the Banter Board if you see fit.
Like the title says- are there any words you just hate the sound of, or make you uncomfortable?
Placenta (anything related to childbirth gives me the heebie-jeebies.)
Americana (I hate this word. I don't know why.)
Mucous plug (see placenta.)
After birth (see placenta.)
Edible casing (Ron Popeil once had an infomercial for a sausage maker. He used the words "edible casing" over & over. Nearly made me puke.)
Colonial Musketeers (there are a band of people where I live who dress in olde-tyme garb & march in parades playing drums, piccolos & fifes. They travel around in a big green bus. The sight & sound of them make me uncomfortably angry.)
Change of life (my mom & her hen party friends used to say this instead of menopause.)

When people refer to movies as "flicks", I cringe.

I hate it when people call other people a "legend" casually, like between friends. I think the use of the term like this is just a british thing though, and quite recent at that. I think I find it annoying because it reminds me of how youth/pop radio DJs talk here, and the sort of people they are. Which in my opinion is generally arrogant and shallow sorts of people who have no depth of character, talk about trivial things (e.g. celebrity news) and encourage listeners to call in to give "shout outs" to people and say "what they're upto" (seriously, other than the 3 people who actually phoned in, who gives a crap?). People like this often seem to be lacking in intelligence and moral standards and just follow the masses in regard to their opinions and behaviour. And they try way too hard to be "cool", usually talking in a "street"/"gangsta" style which is clearly put on. Basically boring and nasty people in my opinion.
The sort of people I like and get along with are intelligent, independent-minded people who think about others, don't judge or look down on others, and just be themselves. So to me, when people call others a "legend" casually it just leads me to believe they will be the sort of person I won't like.

Irregardless, a whole nother and all of the sudden.
In addition to internet geek words like win, fail, epic, epic win, epic fail, n00b and of course pwned (which to this day I still don't get why the o was replaced with a p)

Bitching or whining. People can't distinguish the difference between bitching and just disagreeing. It pisses me off.
I'll also throw cu*t in there too. Just a disgusting word.

Well neither do I, but I know for a fact everyone who's a fan of WWE uses overrated when talking about the quality of wrestlers, feuds, promos, and superstar popularity.

I refrain from using the word "epic" these days because people overused it to the point where it lost it's meaning.
