Does anyone know why Kevin Nash was simply used as a bodyguard of sorts again for Hall & not booked in an actual program for Wrestlemania 18 in 2002?
I mean, at the time - he had just returned to the WWF & was still a huge name.
Never understood this.

Rumor was Kevin Nash vs. Kane and Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Perfect.
Not sure why they changed it to Angle vs. Kane. I think Perfect ended up wrestling on Heat and like you said, Nash was just basically used as a bodyguard.

They didn't have Nash work a match in fear of Scott Hall messing up. If Hall messed up, then Nash was gonna go in his place to face Austin. At least that's what I heard years ago.

Honestly would have been the best mania card ever if it had Angle vs Perfect. To me, that's on the scale of Hogan and Rock, but on a technical level instead of a flag holder level.
Kane vs Nash woulda been the icing on the cake.

I thought that Nash had some injury that he was still recovering from and the WWF didn't want to take the chance of him getting seriously hurt so they didn't book him in a match.

From what the rumor going around at that time was they couldn't trust Hall and Nash was backup in case something did happen. But Nash wasn't injured because didn't he have a match with Rock on SD! before WM?

I agree Perfect Angle would have been a classic Mania match,
I always assumed it was to be Kane Vs Nash because of the Jakks R3 two packs being Hogan/Rock, Austin/Hall and Nash/Kane

Yea, I always read that it was originally Nash/Kane and Angle/Perfect, but Nash was injured.

This is what was heavily rumored to be the case. However a few reports said it wasn't. I'm not really sure what to believe. I never remember Angle vs. Perfect and Kane vs. Nash to be rumored matches. However I was very busy with college mid-terms so I didn't have a lot of time to surf the news. But man had WM X8 added: Angle vs. Perfect Kane vs. Nash That would have been awesome!

I think there was fear that Hall would do something to mess it up, so they had Nash just in case, to face Austin instead.
